okay ive been using straight minor pentatonic scales with the occasional blues raised 4th note in there... getting sick of the same sound. ((F#m is a good one to check out))

What other scales should I check out for funk sounds?

Mixing pentatonics/blues scale with the Mixolydian scale for dominant chords would be a good starting point. That's just a major scale with a flat 7th.

I can understand the mistake though. The hot water bassline is heavily enhanced by a synth bass so played just using slap would sound very similar to sandstorm. That said, a little research goes a long way... especailly if your say is being broadcast worldwide!
