Those MD's are plagued with issues and should be taken out of operation, regardless of "all" the tweaks that were made to improve their safety!

I agree the MD-11 is an awesome airplane, especially with the winglets. DC-10 was ok but not as graceful looking... There's something about the tri-jet setup with the winglets that makes it a balanced, pleasing shape. The wings add to that being attached further aft than usual - kind of like a missile - like the 727!
