Im studying the cultivation of mussels for a marine conservation project at university, however, i cant find much on how these ropes are seeded, could you explain the purpose how this is done? thanks :)
Thanks for your comments greenfish. The lead we use to sink our ropes is fully encased in a heavy PVC coating that prevents the lead from being exposed.
Independant tests have been conducted by the Cawthron Insitute, the results showed that lead levels in the water column where zero so you can have confidence that any mussels grown on Donaghys weighted ropes are 100% safe.
cool video I really enjoyed watching it, but I wonder is lead necessarily a safe material to have exposed within the vicinity of a product whose main purpose is to be eaten?
