  • does anybsy have advice for a noob like me?

  • Oh and it also is very quick drying. U can prime basecoat and clear in 3 days if u prep right between coats

  • I've used duplicolor on almost all of my models and NEVER seen it melt plastic or damage it.so yes u can use it just make sure u prime the body first

  • I would LOVE to get into this hobby, there are so many great models out there, its just too bad I cant build for my life haha I wonder if there is a place where you can send in your incomplete model and they build it for you! I would pay!!

  • what is that thing on the spray can again? that black thing.

  • Greg how much are the paint sprayers and what section would they be in

  • @MrTyler6499 You mean a air brush? That is the best to use they range from 20 bucks or so and up. The compressor is important as well since it supplies the air that the brush works off of..

  • Hahaha, feeling like you're in a real body shop is important ;)

  • Starting my first project a 1968 Shelby gt 500 cause of a bet hope I can do it looks challenging.

  • Hi please as the name of this paint gun?

  • I would like to ask the community: I did what Greg B. instructed (scuffing, primed) before painting the color of your choice. After 3 coats of spray paint and 5 hrs after. I noticed that my fingerprint stains on the paint. does this mean that 3 coats is very thick or the paint hasn't settled yet? Thanks in advance.

  • @eaxebxecxedx Well, if your coats of paint were close together, like less than an hour apart, they may have "mucked up" a little bit. Also, I have better results when I wash my parts in water after sanding and before priming, as that gets off bith finger oils and mold release from the factory. Finally, your coats should be very thin. the first coat shouldn't cover the part completely. If you're using enamels, the paint will stay wet and sticky for a day or two.

  • the words in the middle dont help at all we wannna see wat is happening

  • @zackron11 captions can be turned off by clicking the CC button next to quality/size button.

  • good JOB :)

  • i love model cars my next one will be a mini cooper but i never paint them cause i didn't know how but this vid helped a lot

  • would a 350 grit sandpaper would work as good as the 500 grit

  • that's what I messed up on didn't wash it off. I got dust on the body and it looks like air bubbles now.

  • does humidity affect the gloss of the paint? coz i painted the body of my revell enzo outside our house.....which is pretty humid, and it ended up less shiny than the other parts i painted inside.....btw, gotta love building these!

  • what is the name of that handle 1: 30 you put on the spray can

  • @flavaj12 its a can gun.

  • do u have to spray paint it?

  • @jairhumphrey

You don't have to. But, think about it: they use spray for real cars and planes. It saves time, and USUALLY looks a hell of a lot better.

  • Excellent! I took notes. Thank you for posting.

  • 1;57 whats that name plz anyone tell me

  • saludos yo tengo una tactica muy buena

    para que quedela pintura brillosa

  • all you guys that paint models use testors

  • testors give u a nice shiny finish without clear

  • im with you u can buy testors paint at michaels

  • thats where i get mine

  • I'm not into model building anymore but he didn't mention that some off the shelf car paints will chemically melt the plastic. You have to put a primer on that protect the plastic, and be compatible with his color coat.

  • I think he did an excellent job on this video.

  • u dont have to sand it down and prime it that only matters if u have lacquer paint then u would need to. You Can also get crap loads of paint using nail polish u would have to thin it down also. there is so many diffrent types ussually cost $1

  • Does Dupli Color have plastic spraypaint too?

  • I used Dupli Color to paint the shell of my Xbox. So yeah, it all works for plastic. I specifically used touch up can

  • can u just spray the paint on the car of do u have to sand it like he sid?

  • wow havent done a model car in years. this makes me want to do one now. wal mart doesnt sell model cars anymore where do you get them. thanks for sharing.

  • any hobby store :P

  • They don't? well oh well, they sold cheap models anyways. I go to the Hobby Bench to get my models. But I live in Arizona, I don't know if they have any locations where you live. But Hobby bench really sells some nice models!

  • can you tell me the brand of the car models?

    thanks

  • I'm doing a model 2009 Challenger R/T. It's the first model I've done in about 12 years. I never thought to use primer back then. I know a bit more now but I'm still an amatuer. Thank you for your info!

  • i use that and i use testors brand paint they both r good and i did that car i painted mine blue tho

  • I like to use Humbrol glossy paints , add some thinner & stir the paint well . Then paint when the temperature is cooler , and by not adding to much on the brush , spreading it quick & well . Then sand between the coats , it actually looks quite good. Spraying is hard this guy makes it look easy. Think the Testors small sprays are the best , big regular cans spay on to powerfull and you may muck it up.

  • is that a 40 ford

  • I usually build 3 or more at one time......It can get quite complicated....Moving from one project to the next.Sometimes it is necessary because of glue and paint drying times....Plus it's fun to work a little here and there...............

  • I am working on a Mr. Norms 1968 Dodge

  • i use a paint brush but it never comes out quite right also i use enamel paint

  • Making Model Cars sound fun,but im very impatient so i would quit in the middle of one.

  • bulid up your coats then u get a nice paint job

  • has he ever done one? XD jk nice job..

  • I use TESTORS brand paint and they all turn out great.

  • I love making model cars. There so much fun. I'm starting on a new one soon.

  • When i was a kid,i tried building/painting a model and it turned out like "s__t.Now that i'm older,i find my models turn out GR8!!.I just finished a 1:25 scale 1969 Torino Talladega and it turned out lookin like a real car. Thanks Greg!!! I owe it all to you

  • guys remember to shake the cans like CRAZY before spraying, that way you never get drips

  • you get drips from loading on paint

  • Nice video!

Little tip: Dont spray so thick layers. Result is better when you spray very light coats.

  • pretty wierd how your primering a model car and you have a car sale paper under your model.

  • how he make the stand?

  • do you have to prime it, becuase when i do mine i usually dont

  • I would, your car might rust erlier than usual :P

  • so u have to rub it with a sand paper first????

  • yup but not to hard because all your going to get is a pile of plastic powder! i have done it before!

  • Is it safe to use any spray paint on plastic model car?

  • Yes...

  • whats the best tempter to spray pant in? Will cold weather affect the spray paint?

  • Don't spray in cold weather. Room temperature is best.

  • k thanks

  • OHHHHHh scuff down and spray primer

    im an idiot

  • i would do primer if the body is molded in a light colored plastice, but yeah, you need to scuff it. :)

  • i actually never scuff mine. i just primer and paint them and they turn out pretty nice

  • well i guess its either cuff or primer huh lol :) maybe its just a matter of preference on that one :)

  • i never prime mine and some of mine look great

  • "It gives you the feeling liek you're in a real body shop". Amen, that's part of the fun of modeling! Very well-put, I'm really enjoying these videos.

  • cool thank you for the tips. I haven't built a model in years and of course all of my painting efforts turned out like goop, but im going to give it another shot using this and see how it goes.

  • where did you get that painting pistol?how much it bayd and is the gualiti petter than usual spray?

  • Lowe's, Home Depot or Wal-Mart. They usually cost no more than 4 or 5 bucks and they allow more precise spraying

  • Ok.I all ready have Revell Airbrush now:D

  • Do you sand the paint when it dries, Im getting ready to paint my model Camaro, I want to make a model right for once. Thanks for the video.

  • I allready know how to do all this simple stuff. I want to know how to do illusions of rust, dirt, mud, etc. make it look like it was a rod built back in the 50's and driven every day since.

  • also how to do landscapes.

  • it makes it shiny so it looks better i never do that i just paint it

  • what's the point of wasing it in dish detergent and warm water?

  • the models are coated in a kind of acid wash so that they remove from the moulds better. Washing with soap and water cleans it off and you'll get a better more even coat of paint.

  • So that the oils from your fingers and other junk left on the surface of the car is washed away. You want your primer to stick to as clean a surface as possible

  • Did you used ordinary spray cans ?

  • what kind of paint do you use?

  • he said something about automotive touch up colors, ive heard of people using bottles of touch-up paint and using it in their airbrushes for a exact color match to a real car

  • Dont rub your hand all over it like he did, lol. It gets the oils from your hand on there.

  • I just have to add my 2¢. Spray front and back first, then start on one side and paint strips straight over the top, then turn it and finish the other side.

  • hi,

what is the black plastic device that you attached to the spray can called?
