If you liked this movie, i recommend these similar movies: Twilight Zone The Movie, Creepshow, Akira, The Neverending Story, Willow, Fantastic Planet, The Dark Crystal, The Fifth Element, Wizards, Fire and Ice, Ghost in The Shell, Nausicaa, Ninja Scroll, Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend, Robot Carnival, Haunted World of El Superbeasto, South Park the Movie, Heavy Traffic, Wicked City, Conan, Beastmaster, Golgo 13, Fist of the North Star, Blade Runner, Once Upon a Girl etc
You saw this on Cinemax or on TBS back in 93? i did bought the movie uncut, uncensored and remastered when i was 15 and also bought the soundtrack as well, i did bought the DVD after my high school graduation and now i own it on Blu-Ray. i even own some old issues of the magnificent. What are your top 13 animated babes? mine are Taarna, Jasmine, Lady Amalthea, Cheetara, Adora from She-Ra, Teela, Sailor Pluto, Minerva Mink, Teegra, Aurora, Callie Briggs, Kida and Nausicaa
Would you bang her? how old were you when you saw this classic animated movie? i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS in a cut version that still had blood and salty language when i looked up on my city's TV guide to see what will come to TBS and i saw it, i loved it and i had a crush on Taarna since. i also watched Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, american Pop and Rock and Rule as well. I bought HM when i was 15 with the soundtrack.
@26moonbeam1 Yes, it surely does. This is one of the most powerful, emotional and truly evocative themes of all time and Heavy Metal has my all time favorite Elmer Bernstein score.
This is such a beautiful, epic and breath taking score....that for some reason came after a story about robots having sex with women and aliens snorting crack.
I know it's funny isn't it, the score to this movie is awesome and very epic. It's a fun, sexy and gory animated Sci-fi horror fantasy movie that is kind of like a cross between Avatar, The Fifth Element, Akira and Twilight Zone The Movie
Indeed and did you know James Cameron is a fan of this movie and the magazine as he used them as some of his inspirations to Avatar? true. It's like he combined Last of the Mohicans, HM, Nausicaa, Ferngully, Mononoke Princess, Fantastic Planet, Lightyears, Star Wars, Total Recall and Dune in one movie.
Awesome! This is such a beautiful rendition of Taarna's theme. I actually have this version on a sci-fi / fantasy compilation CD called Space and Beyond. Great stuff!
I own the CD of HM the score, awesome movie. How old were you when you saw this movie? I was 12 about 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS thanks to TV Guide with Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, Watership Down, Hey Good Looking, American Pop and Rock on Rule and loved it. I even bought it when it finally came to video then later replaced it with DVD, Do you think Taarna is almost on par with Adora from She-Ra and Cheetara from Thundercats in terms of hot warrior chicks?
@Johnlindsey289 My 8 year old brother woke me up in the middle of the night when i was 3 1/2 years old back in the summer of 1983 to show it to me because he was watching it on HBO and thought it was the coolest movie he'd ever seen. We were both hopelessly hooked on it from that point on and made a point to watch it whenever we could. I finally recorded it off of Cinemax back in 1988, bought the Laserdisc in 1996 and then the DVD years later. Taarna is the hottest warrior chick ever, i think.
Was it your first exposure to animated tits, asses and pubic hair even to animated gore? so you recorded HM about 23 years ago when you were 8 without your parents catching you? awesome. Did you ever watched Fire and Ice, Rock and Rule, Twice Upon a Time, Warriors of the Wind (Nausicaa), Watership Down, Pleague Dogs an dother adult animations as a kid? and was Taarna your first crush? you still like Adora and Cheetara right but Taarna is queen right? i would bang Taarna and Cheetara
@Johnlindsey289 HM was my very first exposure to animated t&a, but our parents didn't mind us watching R-rated movies at all back then. As long as it wasn't actual porno we were allowed to watch pretty much whatever we wanted to in our household. I didn't see Plague Dogs until i was a teen, but i saw all the others as a kid. I still think Adora and Cheetara are hot, but Taarna is still #1 for me. She was my first animated babe crush along with Lady Amalthea. I would like to bang them too. lol.
I adore Amalthea too as her Taarna and Teegra are the 3 best babes of animation in the early 80's. Elmer Bernstein's score is just magicial and magnificent as it ranks with Ghostbusters, Animal House, Werewolf in London, Great Escape, Ten Commandments and others in his best. Even the producers of Ghostbusters did this movie and do you think the animation is similar to Raggedy Ann and Andy a Musical Adventure's animation, same animators and designers.
@Johnlindsey289 Yeah, Elmer Bernstein was one of the best. The Black Cauldron had a really magical Bernstein score as well. The animation in the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie does resemble Heavy Metal quite a bit, i must say.
@Johnlindsey289 Yeah, i saw Black Cauldron in theaters as a kid too. The Horned King is one of the creepiest animated villians of all time, i think. A video of Avatar scenes with the Heavy Metal score over them would be very interesting to see. Although i'm kind of surprised that no one has made one by now, actually. lol. I'm really glad that Cameron is going to produce and co-direct the new Heavy Metal movie, and i think that it's going to be awesome.
Now that is a haunting and majestic score to an awesome animated movie. The film is a unique, trippy and wonderful animated classic that is like a cross between The Fifth Element, Twilight Zone The Movie and Akira.
I wish this had been included on the Heavy Metal Soundtrack .... the rest of the music rocks, but this is simply awesomeness ...
