  • wheres the soul?

  • Hello, please pass me the scores. Thank´s.

  • way to go! :)

  • God damn man! Really good job. Your playing is so fluid .

  • Hi, I would like to share a few thoughts with you...when you play in the high position, don't let your arm to rest on the instrument because it affects your mobility.everything has to be dinamic. try to keep your elbow up and your wrist curved.also if you would start playing sitting on a chair it will give you big technical advantages. I saw that the video is old, i'm shure you are way better now ;) keep practicing

  • don't you just hate fifth position? hahaha excellent!

  • That was amazing. I'm a bassist myself although I'm not as good as you lol how long have you been playing?....an you're really cute too ;)

  • you use the thumb in bass?? xD that's absolutely forbidden in guitar

  • Não é ruim tocar em pé?

    S:

  • you have an elbow to bend.

  • the needs to practice more

  • NICEE

    ARE YOUU

    KAWORU :3

  • you play with really nice feel, great job! i'm working on the second page (playing electric bass though) and needed to get some help on the rhythm for some parts.... thanks a mucho!

  • terrible

  • @schlongenharder horrible, right?

  • @zimbwabe i think its good not perfect but good!! and not horrible!

  • You've shamed me into practicing- I haven't touched my bass in over a week- till I saw this. Thank you for that. Asides from that, great playing! Very beautiful! Can I ask how long you've been playing and whether or not you've had formal training? Also, are you using sheet music? or tabs? or just playing by ear?

  • how old are you in the video?? you're great ! yo go to any conservatory ??

  • This is amazing to see this played on the bass, i hope i can some day but not with that bow hold, i can never play good with it.

  • Play that shit!

  • Wow. I am seriously impressed. I have always wanted to play but never had the money growing up. Now that I'm actually old enough to finance it myself I'm thinking of starting lessons. The fact that you've managed such skill on your own gives me hope. Not that I expect to reach the level you're at but I have hope haha

  • takes some balls to play it on a base.

its a bitch to play it on a cello i cant imagine how hard it was on the base

  • There's this tiny pause that's kinda annoying, make it flow more, it's good tho.

  • what key are you playing it in

  • Wonderfully done. I am a bass player myself, going on my fourth year playing it. ^^ I'm first chair in my orchestra, but you blew me away with this. :D

  • Impressive.. and german bowing if I'm correct?

  • wow the high part sounds hard to do with that instrument

  • That must be a pain on the bass without the A string.

  • @erinrodey bass has a a string

  • huhh, you're very handsome :)

  • is this a 4/4?

  • @AmadeusMetalParkour Yeah, 4/4.

  • @erinrodey Nice! that's my favorite size too since i'm tall.

  • Damn, your hand must have hurt!

  • Oh my GOODNESS! I could die right. But I won't because I want to listen to more of your gorgeous playing. I must say, I almost had an orgasm there. That was so beautiful. If anyone doesn't understand what I mean, grab an instrument, excluding the guitar and piano, they're overrated. Feel the music as you play. It'll make sense. Once again, wonderful performance! Bravo!

  • pour les notes sa gere mais c'est plat du début à la fin

  • That's awesome! I really hate German bows, I can't believe you did the whole thing with one! Brilliant. :)

  • have any sheet music for this? :o this is amazing, and what type of strings do you use? This is amazing!

  • hmm. k lets get married. gorgeous and fantastic taste in music, whos in? hahah

  • my teacher always urged me not to rest my arm on the shoulder of the bass when in thumb position. you do perform this wonderfully though!

  • AMAZING MEN!!!!!!!!

  • Demais ! Já gosto no violoncelo, no baixo então, ficou perfeito. Parabéns !

  • looks like 38 people hit the wrong like button!

  • Hey, where'd you get the score/sheet music? If you don't mind sending me the link or a copy... that'd be much appreciated. I was wondering if I could use this as an audition song for LVA.

  • How can there be dislikes on this? This was one of the greatest pieces ever composed IMO

  • amazing man nice job it must be very difficult to play that on the base

  • is that pops rosin by any chance??

  • wow you went ham. nice...

  • Hey! Nice job man. You played the piece well. I just started at the piece on my upright and your rendition is truly inspiring.

  • good looking fella slaying a masterpiece.

hope you're doing the good work my man, good for you.

  • The rude form to play Prelude from S. Bach with such a Contrabass! I loved it!

  • are you self-taught?

  • Beautiful. Almost brought tears to my eyes, Much appreciated. Happy holidays =)

  • Awesome! I play bass guitar and have been seriously considering learning upright. Well played.

  • Comment removed

  • What fingerings did you use? I'm learning this piece.. but I have no idea how to start.

  • shite. imma go practice

  • That is a beautiful instrument..

  • @Narnar34 no crap. lol.

  • I am a bass player as well, only a junior in high school and I absolutely love it ^_^ I've done so much musically, I joined choir as well. I must say, I am very impressed with your playing. Great job! =]!!!!

  • I've only played bass for about 3 months and I felt nobody really appreaciated what it really means to play bass. You just changed my mind, thank you.

  • You are handsome and play very well, congratulations! rss

  • I dont know how u play this well holding the bow like that but nice job nonetheless!

  • lol dude ur a beast u sond beter than most cello players i know lol

  • Muy interesante arreglo, nunca lo habia escuchado en este instrumento.

  • I'm an beginner level bass. Lol and I use the German bow as well :)

  • @Silverflame702 if it's making a screeching sound, then your attack needs work. In other words, how you start the note. Rosin may also be an issue. There are many different types of rosin for solo and orchestral playing. In my opinion the 2 that are the all around best are Carlsson Swedish bass rosin and Pops bass rosin. But don't overuse rosin. U just barely need enough to where u can get a good attack, but not too much to where u have to work to get the bow moving.

  • By the way, I have a question... I'm a bass player/student with three years of experience. Do you have any tips on how to control the bow and not make weird noises? It gives a kind of screeching sound when I use the bow. I use French bow hold. I'm not sure if it's the rosin or just my playing. My bow is straight and in between the bridge and finger board.

  • that awsom!!

i recomend more piano at the ending. fortisimo is not required there in my taste

    great job though :)

  • WOW! it's great! Fregonsísimo! Ja ja ja

  • awesome ;) btw that must be a real pain in your left arm xD

  • Who did the Bass arrangement?

  • Lies. "In an apartment practicing." Such lies! This is not "practicing". It's too good xD! I hope I can play this soon... 3 years of bass so far xd

  • Danm and on a french bow.

  • @Manowar572 thats a german...

  • @Manowar572 German bow hold on a French bow xD?

  • Pops? Pops.

  • very nice job! :D

i really want to play this, but, i have to practice A LOT hahah

    and again, very cool

loove it! and love you, lol hahah

  • very good old bass ...

  • holy shit tht is sick?!??! dude no way?!?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • @bremyers16 This is a BASS!!!! NOT A CELLO!!!! GAH!

  • dude! this is awesome! i've been playing cello for about 7 months, and I've been wanting to play this for a while now! :D Good job! Keep it up! :)

  • Well done! My music theory kids were just asking if it was playable on the bass so we watched it in class.

  • i wonder do people complain about the music? Also how did you get that good?

  • HOT

  • That was awesome...im an intermediate level bass and i must say where did you learn to play like that?

  • @Galoren62

    Mostly in my living room.

  • That was perfect but, german bow FTL. You woulda got 100 but now you get a 32 for that damn bow. :D

  • oooooo... like the german bow. Not as classical looking but nice nonetheless

  • in my attempt to understand why anyone in the world would dislike this for any reason i realize that we are in a world where there will always be people who wish to hate on beautiful things.

  • very nicely done! u shouldn't rest ur wrist on the upper bout tho... leads to carpel tunnel syndrome. but I like the thumb position back on the neck. gotta try out that fingering for myself :) gorgeous bass btw. sounds wonderful. keep up the good work!

  • in the thumbnail, it looks like you are hugging a pumpkin

  • beautifully done...Bravo!!

  • This was beyond awesome.

'Awesome is an overused word. But this surely inspired awe.' Mythbusters narrator

  • Nice work. I like your bowings.

  • well done! way harder on the bass :D

  • hey i play double bass and i was just wondering how you learned that,,,,its my favorite song in the world.

    and im 12 :D

  • I think you did great! But Hmm, I'd like to make a stupid question: how does one figure out where the notes are in say, a bass, a cello.. if there are no frets (as in a guitar?)

  • @Arabelladarcy

By ear, practice and muscle memory.

  • Sorry, I've got to be honest. But it sounds more like a donkey than it sounds like music.

  • @SuhmMusic you dont have to insult the guy. and if you think that sounds like a donkey then you should get your ears checked.

  • Looks harder on a base than on the cello

  • Oh my god that was gorgous I've never seen anyone so young play that song so beautifully on the bass.

  • you are simply amazing i just started playing and i hope 2 be like you someday you are a true insperation!!!!!!!! :) you did marvalous

  • This is very good! Im a cellist, and can play this. GOOD JOB!

  • @TheSkitsOrigin i want to play i play bass guitar but cello is the shit

  • @consityis1 haha thanks! I love the cello. The bass guitar is Awesome too! xD It looks like you would be good at it too!

  • keep on Working on the Rhythm.. it isnt steady espacially in the parts with the low note on the one.

  • @2fat2die I don't he intended for it to be steady. Playing Bach is all about the phrasing.

  • Your bass is beautiful. 200 years old, it must resonate so beautifully. I am jealous.

  • Excelent, hugs from Colombia.

  • That was wonderful.

  • Bass Bows just creep me out...O_O so stubby and wide O.o xD

  • simply beautiful

  • where did you get the sheet music for this. i am quite interested.

  • If you go bald, you can pass for Jonas Starkner.

  • is this the bass version transposed to c?

  • I've been listening to this almost nonstop since about... let me check... 11:34 when my friend sent me the link. It is now 1:39. Congratulations, my friend.

  • so is it bettter to play in the upper octave than the lower for this piece?

  • The subhumans who pushed DONT LIKE, I hope they get diarrhea for 12 months.

  • @LittleGothick Nice one :) LOL

  • @PianoProdigy112 Thanks lol

  • @LittleGothick It is out of tune bitch.

  • Comment removed

  • @bassscape so? he still played freaking awesomely.

  • @LittleGothick they were cellists

  • @LittleGothick Oh God where's the bathroom? I'm KIDDING!!!

  • beutiful i play fhorn and love this song but i need sheets for ittt

  • @velaeagle I have them, but in bass clef. if you'd like to transpose, shoot me an email at sgiavaras@comcast.net

  • I used to play bass (long time ago). I appreciate how wonderful this is!!!! Thank you.

  • I can play this on the bass and i've been trying to convert it to double, except my tonation on the higher notes is horrible, haha....But very nice job man, even had vibrato and everything

  • Bravo... very very good..:)

  • I have to say, I am a cellist, but I love this more on the bass. To me, it sounds much more mellow and relaxing, and not too harsh. Beautiful Job.

  • Wow-- I'm really impressed. I used to play the double bass and switched to viola in my late teens. One of the reasons I switched was because pieces like this, which are relatively straightforward on the viola, are total virtuoso pieces on the double bass. I'd never seen any of the Bach suites performed on the double bass until watching this, and boy, it looks hard! But this dude does an admirable job-- the music comes through despite the really serious technical challenges. Nice job!

  • toka fácil kara, essa música ja é terrível no cello, no baixo então eu num quero nem tentar...

  • Marvelous vibrato 0:24. It'll bring your performance to yet anther level if you can use that on every top notes through out the piece.

  • This is a hard piece for bass. Sexy. :-)

  • Dude your intonation is amazing

  • dude bass god lmfao

  • i have been looking on the market for an upright and was wondering how much you piad for yours and the brand and model i would appreciate it if you replied

  • @garett1055

The bass is appraised @ $13,000. There is no brand or model #. You will not find another like it. It was made in the early 1800s, restored by a luthier based in NYC, and its maker is unknown.

  • @zimbwabe well seeing as it is one of a kind what are some up rights that you would recommend? in the 1000 to 2000 dollar price range?

  • @zimbwabe that looks like a bass from a point but i know its a cello

  • @Zimbabwe it looks easier than the cello

im a cellist myself and u make it look to easy

  • This must of been very difficult on bass. I tried bass when I was shopping for a instrument. It had my hands aching all night long, I prefer viola or cello. Good Playing!

  • parabens!! cara!!

  • Very good job with the thumb! Congratulation from a cello's student

  • I play the bass! I wish I had the talent and the patience to learn that song. You did a fantastic job.

  • I agree, I love classical music. I also love Punk Rock, but I've found a special place in my thinking for classical music. :D.

  • wow, veeery good. Congratulations..... Nice double bass!!!

  • the piece is probably very difficult on the bass.

but you pulled it of amazingly!

  • WOAH on the bass! Awesome! I play it on the viola but this has a really nice tone quality! Loved it!

  • How do you do that? It looks hard I don't like bass it stretches my fingers a lot you seem to know how to handle the instrument.

  • great skills bro!!!!

  • hardcore:D

  • omg amazing thumb work truly talented

  • nice work, but why play it in G on the bass? the edition I have is in C, and its a bit easier from my experience, plus you get to play a low F :)

  • wow

  • amazing job <3

  • sounds good but why on earth are you gong into thumb so high (towards the nut). My only guess is that you play cello? but sounds good

  • this is ridiculous! this dude is like, insane! I play cello, and it is hard on that! to play it on a monstrosity like that bass would be suicidally difficult! Props to you zimbabwe!

  • Hermosa interpretacion!

  • this is good, but the piece really needs to be played expressively to bring out its emotion, very skilled playing though :)

  • gross...

  • @TpainPDFR why did you say gross....

  • Talent Is the Best word to describe this! I love it completely!

  • I love the tub of Pop's in front of the camera

  • very good job i love it!

  • keep it up dude! lots of time for this!

  • i love your transition at 1:52!

  • u play wonderfully but why do u hold ur bow like tht?

  • @Aaron1211 He is playing with a german bow, and that is simple German bow technique. =]

  • @jasminjwhite thanks for clarifying that

  • @Aaron1211 No problem

  • EXCELLENT !!!!

  • WOW!!!!! You just changed my mind about basses not being able to play solos... wow... I can't play the piece nearly as well on viola (which is a billion times easier)

  • Just beautiful. I like your interpretation.
