I think the beat from Bright Eyes actually works really well with Jay-Z, but the rest is just awful. The remix of Gold Mine Gutted by Hot Chip is really awesome, a great club mix of the song that you can dance do that still sounds great.

I don't see what the problem is. Rappers have always sampled music from other genres, and it's plan to see that rock and hip hop are children of the same mother if you read your history. Someone was inspired and put two things together - that takes a special kind of ear. Props to them for being imaginative.

Bright Eyes is better, of course, but you should look for the beauty, love, and enlightenment in every genre; and Jay-Z is one of the best in his genre for musical truth like you always get from Conner.
