Yeah, umm.. there's an easier way to test if a blade is sharp. Just gently run your thumb or finger perpendicular on the blade. (this will NOT cut you) If the knife is sharp, the blade will feel really catch-y and rough. If it's dull, it'll feel slick. It'll work with any sort of blade that's not serrated (axe, kitchen knife, machete, etc.).
