  • Propaganda... really? more like a small mind if you can't see the point behind this video.

  • nice propaganda to make sure poor people have small ambition...

  • That's the price for not having brothers or sisters. Maybe I'll be away from home 5 years and it'll be hard to come back. I'm worried about Ma and Pa, but I have to follow my dreams... too bad I cannot take them with me. But I'll def come back bringing honor to the old man. I hope he doesn't die first. It's hard!

  • This was actually beautiful :) So true.

Why do we walk around thinking it's so important to make that million? You can have lots of success, but what's it worth if you don't have anyone to share it with?

I'd rather have a decent job and be with my family alot than being a wealthy businessman and having shallow relationship with family and friends.

    Thanks for posting!

  • omg this made me so sad D:. i need to spend more time with my parents. man this made me feel like a jerk not spending time with them.

  • so the moral of the story is that it's best to become a good person? if so, then i agree with that.

  • this is an old malaysia advertisement ,but its a great piece of work

  • Tokyo Storm Trooper fans here.

  • i want to be with my grandmother ^^

  • Epic feel time.

  • A lot of professionally successful people care for their parents too... this ad makes sense but it feels like it's also trying to make an excuse for people who aren't doing so great in their careers.

  • real sad :'(

  • I dunno bout lawyers, but doctors who perform life saving surgeries are performing a great service for people. Making tons of money usually means you're doing something important for society. It's good to take care of your family of course, but don't forget that some people have jobs that take care of many people..

  • @jerryku Making tons of money usually means you're doing something important for society. Thank GOD you used USUALLY i wanted to strike you down :) . Hi there im the USA army we can spend A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY on ... ANYTHING , bomb shells , choppers , ships , subs , tanks , rifles , armor , bullets ...... and on and on we help decrease surpl;us population - here is also a valid argument :)

  • i watched that 5 or 6 times in a row...

  • this is the meaning of true family..care for each other..

  • True story. Money and ststus isnt everything. Family IS everything in this life

  • Love of the family is life's greatest blessing.

  • hëh_í_féel_sÓ_lÕnely_todáy

  • One of the best production...:-) hope to see more of such '''down to earth" storylines..

  • so fucking true, money cant buy true hapiness!!!

  • so cool vid... i understand fookien :)

  • Being rich does not buy a person family happiness nor fame. It can instead, make a person more ignorant towards their parents.

  • bt their sons would rather be rich.

  • wad the point of having so much money when you love one is not around?

    thumb up for this video!!

  • I love this vid!!

    fav'd

  • super !

  • hahah~ is remind me my hometown hokkien!!

  • care-lo-lo-gy (:

  • A very meaningful video. It caught my eye to think back for a while that most of us have tendency to be so "STUCK-UP" attaching ourselves chasing towards financial. Which makes us forgotten our origin womb.

Very few of us would do what the guy did to feel close to parent again.

  • So as a human being. It's best that we don't show off everything.

  • did she just called her son guai kia?

  • Toyota AE86 go fetch her mom to cameron wooooooo.

  • Money is not important at all only being fillial..

  • OH THE IRONY

  • wow ! this is a really good ad.

  • Those rich familys just got OWNED

  • i think the idea of this advertisement is to show how children should support their parents...rather than Singaporeans should take care of their parents. Its happening everywhere....

  • oh Al Isaac from superwonderful did this. was going thru n saw his showreel the other day :)

  • i agree wit that! some son are so bitches when oredy rich their 4get they parent!!!

  • Very well liked

  • And the greatest of all is ... love.

  • so touching, btw this is hokkien dialect.

  • Very meaningul

  • 很感動了。

  • there are some things money can't buy. :)

    -love this vid.

and love the penang-y hokkien they use... :)

  • i think this is chu chow [thats how its pronounced, not sure if it's spelled correctly] its an old dialect of chinese , i speak it and i understood most of what they were saying

  • its hokkien not chu chow (teo chew)... and its a common dialect in alot of parts of the world ;)

yes but they are quite similiar but don't tell it to the older folks.. hehe.. spare you half an hour of lecture. ;)

  • @davyoa sorry hor... this is teo chew

  • @cornetchan

As a Chinese-born Teochew, I would say it's a mix of Teochew and Hokkien. They say 'loo' as you, and as far as I know, only Teoyeow (潮阳) people of Teochew say that.

  • @hwasia A lot of Hokkien speakers in Southeast Asia (Penang, Burma, S'pore, etc.) also use lu (汝) instead of standard li (你) for you, as well.

  • what are they speaking?

    its a very interesting language.

  • hokkien

  • Very Penang accent haha

  • i always love Petronas's commercials alot... so meaningful~ looking forward for their new commercial...

  • beautiful commercial

  • yea .. it is meaningful~

im agree with this ~ money not everything~

  • Well-made and delivered social commentary about how the best things in life are NOT things. A timely reminder that we should be striving for significance and not just success.

  • Comment removed

  • nice commersial video.. the meaning is really deep..

  • actually not deep at all juz how foolish we are to miss the point..

  • so true, i come from a hokkien family, i showed all the oldies this ^^

  • cried.

  • aaaaaaah

  • Simple but good video. To a lot of Asians - the Chinese in particular; & I say this as a Singaporean Chinese - it's all about "face": people talk about how successful & rich their kids are, how many degrees they have, which expensive universities they've attended, when really, a filial child like the one in this video is more worth being proud of. We should really learn to focus on what's important.

  • I agree with you. Having a filial child is much better than children having degrees from expensve universities and power earnings from the professional careers. Thanks for sharing..

  • @richwee this video should be broadcast into the media of the Chinese-speaking world!

I totally agree with you two! I wished my parents thought like the two of you! It's honestly tiring and absolutely stupid how its always about your appearance and who has the "biggest" whatever. I feel that our parents forget what's really more valuable.

  • very true. i'm indonesian-chinese

  • @ctti i agree man. what the point of earning so much money. Why dont we balance things out by earning what is sufficient and using the extra time with family. If you are a Singaporean, im glad to have you as a fellow Singaporean:)

  • @ctti how bout rich son who is filial!

  • @jovitheman a rich and filial son? hmmm? that wud be the best!

  • @anneam14 yeah

  • Very true

  • I like the actresses, very convincing.. especially the way the mama look into the makeup mirror..

  • I'm from Singapore. Interestingly my government tells me the exact opposite thing. Strive harder... and send your mother to Malaysia to cut cost.... In many ways I like Malaysia.

  • huh? im singaorean too since when they said sent our parents to malaysia??? wtf man!!!

  • PLEASE DO A SEARCH health+ minister+ send+ parents+ to+ JB

    and wtf them! not me.

  • I am Singaporean too. Yes they did, they even recommend we sent them to old age homes there!

  • huh... i never came across such statements from our mm or whatsoever. where did u hear such ythings? was it in the paper or news? wow... i didnt know that

  • malaysia's government's corrupted. there isn't any concept of equal rights

  • You may be right. They should learn from Singapore government and remove all priveledges and let only money dictate rights. Equal rights? I wonder how much bribe money one needs to colloct to equal a Singapore minister's legitimate million dollar salary. Go start your political views somewhere else. This is about moral values which Singapore is definately weak at.

  • nice

  • so touching.. i miss my Mom so much... i wanna go home soon.. Mom, i'm back 4 holiday.. ^^

  • Family Come First!

    Remember our mom

  • lol what about Dad?

  • Male often die ealier. So be even nicer to your dads..

  • what a mobid point of view....

  • have to agree wif you. Just that das are often underrated. And we do have shorter lifespan.

  • I miss my mom.

  • The truth of life. :( It seems like the successful people are always so caught up in their careers they have no little time for anything else. :(

  • true true.... the simplest htings in life is ftten the best

  • "A touching Ad to serve as a gentle reminder for us to treasure our parents & not to neglect them who had labored in sweat & tears to bring us up. May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly...''

  • This is the best video i've seen lately...

Some how it bring my tears out...

make me wonder... what's the point that how rich we are and how successful in the career we are...

when u lost the love and care in your life...

then? what's the point we came to this world?

    call your family now...

  • I like this Ad.

hi who thought of this idea?

I wana shake your hand. Excellent job!

  • im not surprised if the late yasmin ahmad did this clip. remember the advertisement funeral about beautifully imperfect? anyway petronas commercials are always over the top! i ♥ them! especially during festive seasons. try youtubing them see if they have any more petronas commercials for festive seasons. :)

    cheers!

  • None as good as this.

  • It was well directed as well.

  • the other aunties got pwn'd with their bullshit lol.

anyways yea i see the message of this - its good.
