I wanna know if a professional violin player can see this video and told us if the finger movement goes with the notes? Is the only way for finishing all this discusion about fake playing from bond.
There are millions of classical musicians across the world who are able to play the same music almost identically every time, especially when working with an orchestra. Just because these are beautiful women doesn't mean they aren't able to do that too.
It's true this does sound the same as the recording but that doesn't mean it's not live necessarily- just great talent.
Or I hope it's that, I don't want my Bond bubble popped!
@mentalguitarisist I keep wondering about that myself. Peopl insist that it is live, but it's like way too perfect or something. I also noticed strating at about :38, they have an orchestra playing along with them? How do we know that THEY aren't actually playing it? I don't know much about hte mechanics of playing the violin, but there are parts in the last one I watched (Oceanic) where it sure didn't look like the motions matched the music. But Bond is wonderful all the same.
@justforever96 Perfection is what classical musicians strive desperately, as is identical repetition. They are musicians of a high caliber who have worked a long time to achieve exactly the things that people are saying they're using play back for!
@ghajnrazul Yes, but I recently had to play the long version, and it was tedious and awful. I'm glad they played a shortened. Aren't you? (This isn't an attack, just discussion)
oh how gay-yee makes those strings come alive as if from her heart...love this song haha coulnt resist lets be friends and enjoy bond,,it was written to commemorate the battle of borodino and despite the russian retreat and subsequent burning of moscow by the russians, napoleon had to retreat from russia which ended in diaster for the grand armee. napoleon and alexander I would cross swords again
There are a lot of people who are posting that this a "song". Doesn't anyone bother to check their dictionary before they post? A SONG is music WITH words.! Ergo this is a tune or a piece of music etc. anyone care to check their dictionary before they make comments
So when you hum a song... you're mumbling words? It's not the exact definition, but song in the common vernacular also means tune, melody, music, etc. Relax, mate, don't be so uptight... you'll give yourself an aneurysm.

Humming does not constitute singing. There are no words. When you hum you hum a tune or a melody or a piece of music etc. A song is music with words. It's basic English!
SkeletonJake. Why don't you check your dictionary before you make idiotic comments? A song is music WITH words. Violaplayer1987 is absolutely correct . This is a piece of music or a tune or even a melody etc. Think back to Kindergarten. If there are no words, it is NOT a song.
i would make the left one straddle me while the middle left watched, while the middle right was over my head getting her shit munched, while the fourth one was licking random tits. Thank you,, thats my fantasy ill go wax the carrot now.
Why is everyone here at YouTube getting upset so easily? I'm just saying it sounds exactly as on the CD, period. Good for them they're live as good as in the studio.
The performance was recorded live at Royal Albert Hall. The DVD and CD were recorded off of the live recording. Of course there was probably some audio processing done before the recording to DVD and CD. But to say this wasn't live.....hmmph
@coleturner16 What he hell are you talking about? My comment was about a well known problem with You Tube... I love Bond and their music....I was NOT bashing them...

de verdad , no lo puedo evitar , pero este tipo de mierda es una falta de respeto para genios como Tchaikovsky , si él estuviese vivo se vomita y se muere del coraje...
i no. i LOVE this song, but were doing it in orchestra & it bloody impossible. (im 2nd violin) i mean, theres TWELVE notes in ONE BAR & each of those notes id TWO bow strokes. that TWENTY FOUR BOW STROKES in ONE BLOODY BAR!!! its impossible.
the violin ensemble played this song when it was the competition amongst all the schools in my country, it was nice. but we didn't win . but the judges enjoyed it. true, this song rawks :)
love watching them especially gay-yee love that cello..doesnt get any better than this..one of the great overtures...can almost see the french and russians battling it out
I think they did a great job, always keeping tchaikovsky in mind: The part tchaikovsky composed powerful, they played powerful, the folk song part is played like a folk song, just more up-to-date-"rocky". Of course it's by no means a replacement of the original version, but it is an interesting piece of art.
Many purist are appalled at the "rockification" of Great Music. But then, at least it keeps it in the public mind, and when the kids grow up, they are more likely to search out the real thing! And that's good!
Agreed. Being a young liberal mind, I sometimes can't understand why people are so uptight about these things. At least they didn't butcher it completely, right? They kept mainly to the original tune, adding a modern twist to it sure, but it should be thought of as adding flavor to an otherwise very good dish & thereby making it all the more tasteful & appealing.
The only thing missing is the cannon shots.

So if they're not playing it for real, they're some of the best fakers I've ever seen.

Hey Pratt, simple English... read through the definitions. Words are an option when singing.
sing /sɪŋ/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [sing] Show IPA verb, sang or, often, sung; sung; sing⋅ing; noun
Use sing in a Sentence
verb (used without object) 1. to utter words or sounds in succession with musical modulations of the voice; vocalize melodically.
2. ...
3. to produce melodious sounds, usually high in pitch, as certain birds, insects, etc.: The nightingale sang in the tree.

Technically a "song" involves having lyrics. If it's just music, it's a piece of music, or a "tune."
