@Hopewolfie No; they're a cross between a bean and a dog. Seriously. It derived from a pun on the fact that "mame" is both "bean" and a prefix for "tiny" used to refer to small Shiba Inu as "Mame-Shiba". The "mame" prefix also is used before "chishiki" (knowledge) to make "mamechishiki" (trivia), hence these bean-dogs provide esoteric trivia wherever they appear.
