Looks keen but worrys me being on the creance with so many objects to get tangled on around. (houses, signposts) I'd do it down the road it's self avoiding the risk of getting tangled up
@fordsforme1, are you signing up in Spring? Cause I think most states start allowing bird catching seasons start in the fall after most Birds of Prey molt.
I wanna start my apprenticeship soon hopefully, but the raptor, my dad is confused and wont believe me, is trained to come back to you because it it trained to come back to the GLOVE for food? right? it relies on u for most part?
Yes. These birds are hunting birds, if you give out free meat to these birds they will come. But these birds are very intelligent, after a while they will follow you very well if trained right.
nice job training that red tail. i am 16 and live in washington and work at a wildlife rehabilitation center and i am a part of the education team there and handle a red tail that was hit by a car and lost her wing she might not be able to fly but she has a great spirit.
no, you need a license from the federal government, pay a fee, and take a test. they will come twice a year to inspect your facilities. it is expensive hobby.
The raptor was most likely taken from the wild & then trained to hone it's hunting skills. But to put a price on being legally allowed to do falconry is easily 1500-2000 dollars for everything needed!
They are training the bird for hunting while its a juvenile(passage)then they are released.Learn a little about falconry here in the States before you comment!
Right. If they DON'T trap the brid and train it, there's a 50-75% (depending on where you read it) chance that they will die before being 2 years old. In fact, the law here in Texas states that an apprentice Falconer's first bird MUST be trapped by the apprentice. It can't be bought.
How do i get one of these and beautiful mountains in the background BTW

What do you mean by Passage... Is it like when you finally get done with apprentenceship and the bird is yours? or is it a kind of red tail hawk?

If they put it back in his/her inviroment there's an 80% chance that he/she will die.Thats why we only trap juvenile birds to help the survival rate!

Awesome, I would love to keep a bird of prey, but you need to have the dedicated time to look after it
