@qwayker You'd probably die. However, the chance of the computer malfunctioning and turning the wheel on the motorway is a huge, huge amount lower than the chance of the human in the car falling asleep/being drunk/accidentally braking...

Indeed, with computer controlled steering and safety systems I'd expect in a few years cars will be smart enough so even if you do fall asleep at the wheel and start driving into oncoming traffic the computer would stop you anyway.

Does anyone know why the Tiguan only comes Automatic and 4motion (In America)? Or why any 2.0T engine from VW/Audi only comes Automatic/4Motion-Quatro? I asked the dealer they just to me some bs about stalling out the car.... Europe has 6speed 4motion :(

Sensors. You heard that beeping? When proximity is high it beeps, and it will stop whenever you hit the breaks anyway, it's not like you lose control of your car. It is simply a system to help you get into those tight spaces or not go through the hassle of parking, it doesn't take over your car, you're in control the entire time with gear shifts and pedal handling.

its a different thing when there is a fixed amount of space between fixed non moving cars at the front and back. The computer has less calculations to do in that case.

But to bring it on the road where there are SOOO MANY variables is MUCH MUCH harder than autoparking.

In my experience the distance from the curb depends on the distance between you and the other parked cars, when scanning for an open spot. Nevertheless 9 out of 10 times the car parks itself almost perfect.
