what a band, awsome, i grew up in the 70 and 80's, this bad covered so many genres, i didnt like everything they did, but every album had something special, would love to see ther next album have a harder edge like they did when they started, rock and roll hall of fame, time Rush was there, great trio, the one great band i have not yet seen live, increadible body of work, i mean, how many bands have ever put out this much music

I'm a huge Rush fan too...but I think their best years were from 1974-1981. The only weak album in those first eight studio albums was Caress of Steel. Even that album isn't bad, but it just doesn't stack up against Rush, Fly, 2112, Farewell, Hemi, Waves and then the crowning achievement Pictures. I like their 80's stuff too but I think it takes a back seat to the 70's stuff. I find those 80's albums had 3, 4 or 5 strong tracks and the rest was filler...there were very few weak tracks early on.

I remember when GUP was released in '84. Everyone hated it. I felt I was the only one in my town that liked it.

I think people are finally coming around to giving GUP the credit it deserves.

I honestly feel that most of Rush's albums from the 80's were unjustly maligned. I guess everyone expected them to do "Tom Sawyer" over and over ad nauseam. Oh well, their loss. I just bought this album (I've listened to it before but until now it never made it into my collection) and I must say that it's probably one of my favorites by them!
