Thankyou for posting this video. I was in the U.S. Navy from 88-92. I was in the air-anti submarine squadren, VS-33 Screwbirds attached to Carrier Air Wing 9! I was all over this here flight deck chasing birds during launch & recovery flight ops!
I remember flight ops on Westpac '93. I loved watching the takeoffs and landing, especially night flight ops. My squadron flew the F-14A Tomcat, VF24 Fighting Renegades based at NAS Miramar
Ops seemed to be slow. I flew off the Forrestal and they launched every 20 seconds. Things got very fast when we launched a full alpha strike of up to 36 aircraft.
Americanski planes take off with a catapulta, up to 3 at once, and up to maximum takeoff weightski. Something their Russian counterparts can't achieve with the ski slope on the Admiral Kuznetsov. but I guess that kind of performace isn't needed when your carrier can only support 17 fixed wing aircraftski.

russki planes use a ski jump to catapult them into the air, they also dont take off with the weight that we do. They also have the deck room to take off without the cat. We dont.

Russian carriers can't launch any planes that aren't afterburning because it doesn't have a catapult...

Sweet! Thx for the upload. I don't know if I'd have the stones to land on a carrier. Airfields suit me just fine. :P

Are the engines of the jets already accelerating before the catapult is activated, or are they accelerated after the jet is launched into the air?
