We Call them Spanish Mackerel in Australia, and I believe they are the same as your King Mackerel. Great fish and can get up to 40 Kilo's or more, but most commonly caught 10 - 20 Kilo's. We also get a few varieties of smaller mackerel which must be similar to your Spanish,
@Reefari actually they aren't the same but they're very similar there are a few small characteristics that are different...i live in florida and we have both here i caught 30 of them today...it was unbelievable
Sounds a top fishing session and 30 would be alot of fun, would love to get to Florida one day, sounds like some awesome fishing and great variety of fish,
@Reefari yeah it was the best spanish mackerel fishing that there has been in 10 years there were three people fishing including me and altogether we caught about 50 or 60 we usually only go a few times a year in spring and then wait till next year but it was nice
Up those are not Spanish macks the kings macks I don't know where your fishing but in the U.S. Spanish macks are a lot smaller and have orange spots on them they do not get that big only king macks do
Best time to catch Spanish mackerel is June to October, but loners are around all year round. Had a top weekend just gone, caught 7 around the 10 kilo mark in 45 minutes trolling lures, awesome stuff, Video coming soon, Cheers Greg
Hi, most of your local tackle shops should have one, or be able to get one, Good for gaffing Reef fish, I prefer a bigger gaff for Spanish Mackerel, you're a bit to close to those razor sharp teeth. Plus you can reach them further out from the boat,
Brute Strength is a 21ft Centre console, more for Sportsfishing for GT's, Spanish Mackerel and anything else we catch around the Island. Still got the cougar cat, but blown a motor up and has been out of the water for a month, hopefully next week, back fishing again, and off to the Hardline for 7 days, will be awesome 200kilometres offshore. Should be some good videos,
