  • cold air intakes are shit. you know what hydro lock is> that shit fucks your engine up. ive seen it bend connecting rods. for the extra 8 horsepower it gives it aint worth the risk.

  • Niggas these days, warm air intake smdh

  • that's not a warm air intake, you must have a tube going to the exhaust manifold to be a wai

  • @Cult4d5 yes your right its not ram air but hai is not really a proper term its just a pod filter i hate people who watch fast and furious and think they know everything about cars

  • @greatsk8erxX hey retard short ram is a bs phrase ricers use your a moron short ram doesnt exsist were is there an inlet for the air to ram into?basicaly its just a pod filter no gains just sound

  • lol warm air... you want cold air cuz its more dense you get more in the engine more compression = more power. so then warm air = shitty slow alero. but unless that is a heater in there you = retard

  • sounds like its gonna die

  • Why.. Warm..? WTF

  • My moms minivan has the same engine LOL

  • @mymomsangry mostly all gm cars had a 3.4, 3.5 or 3.8 engines back then..

  • Actually a ram-air intake has some sort of induction system that forces colder air into the engine from the outside. This is actually just a performance filter on the stock intake. Costs about $20 and takes 15 minutes.

  • where you get the short ram at?

  • I thought that cold air is better than normal or even warm air, so why warm air?

  • More like hot air to me...lol

  • why would you take apart a cold air to make a warm air? ARE YOU BLOWIN ME!!!!!

  • your first mistake was buying an alero

  • LOL where do I begin...First off, its a short ram. Secondly for all those posters, its not even a cold air. Cold air bends down to the bottom of the car to suck in air as you drive. If it was a proper short ram, it would be sectioned off from the engine with a vent to bring in cold air, so you dont take in warm air from the engine as cold air is denser providing more oxygen thus engine power. Plus, I still see a restrictive flex hose so this is really an inefficient warm short ram...lol

  • warm air intake is getting heat from exhaust fool

  • hahaha fucker sounds like its going to die

  • lmao who puts a CAI on a alero??? its a fuckin grandma car

  • change it to a ram air intake in the winter the cold rushing air will up your hp by 30 and in the summer the warmer flowing air gives you more mpg plus you get the same sound if you dont have an exhuast i sugest thrush hush super turbo gives a good deep sound but gives more flow

  • @vaulter200 up by 30? Your out of your mind. Bigger engines respond better to intakes than smaller ones, but the MOST ive seen gained from an intake install was 11hp and that was on a dodge 360 motor. You will never and I repeat never see anywhere near 30hp from a simple aftermarket filter. This guys running a 3.4 v6, no v8. He'll probably see 2-5hp.

  • If you believe all the horsepower these cars get with the fancy air intakes is a bigger retard then your cross bred child is

  • hahaha im sure you totally got that from your o'reilly auto parts store! ads lots o power! like 30+ with stickers on the side! get a wing on your car for the downforce, HUGE exhaust(cause everyone knows 4bangers get alot of powerz fromz bigz exhaustz), and the nicest paint job the rattle canz can do! that way you can guarantee the win against EVERYONE and the ladies will always hump your leg...

  • when the air is cold you need more fuel to run the engine and the engine makes more power warm air less power less fuel

  • lol this shit is too confusing to even engage in a argument

  • "Ram Air" haha, I love that saying. Its used by people that can't afford Forced induction.

  • I would call it a intake, I would call a cold air intake one that catches cold air through a vent somewhere. I've never heard anyone call it a warm air intake yet your quite right it would be sucking in alot of warm air where it's located.

  • Sounds like shit bro it's sounds like a v8 fucked a 4cyl and that's the cross breed baby

  • nice man wee did u get da intake is it k&n email me some thinga u can do to an alero i have 03 i pu a glasspack muffler but doesnt make dat much noise as da one u have elmo22_956@yahoo.com give me some ideas please.

  • u dont have to have a turbo set up to have ram air induction

  • WARM AIR = AIR FLOW UNDER THE HOOD

COLD AIR = AIR FLOW FROM OUTSIDE OF THE CAR

just because you have a stupid 100 intake kit doesnt make it cold unless you can see that the air entering the snorkel comes from outside of the car

  • if ram air is only on turbo engines then why do they have grand pri with ram air and trans ams with ram air. your fucking stuppied. plus your car sounds like shit

  • dude my 86 f150 has a ram air

  • what, what in the butt

  • gay in ur butt with a homo?

  • dude if you gonna put an intake on an alero go check out Dawsons alero intake thats what yours should look like just so you know :) cause its a real intake probly from a real company not made in a grace with some PVC pipe

  • dude you do realize you are doing more harm to that car right? warm air is bad thats why most short ram intakes curve away from your motor not sit 5in from the head all its doin there is sucking hot air from around the motor its called go by parts that are made for your car not make a shitty half ass pice of shit and think it adds power just cause it has a cone filter and buy a real tuner car not an alero

  • warm air uses more gas 2 its retarted

  • Character limit......... cold air may produce more power depending on cal.

  • you need a heat sheild on that short ram intake bud will increase hp if you buy one and or make one =))

  • ram air is when the intakes connect to the hoodscoop, it was an old way to get horsepower

  • Wow, how did this get so out of control. First of all, this technically this is a cheap warm air intake. Please for your own good, don't refer to it as such, trust me you won't get much respect from the ones that actually live, breath and bleed motor-sports. The term short ram is a misnomer but is correct to use, however it does not ram air into the intake. Ran air typically is used in normally aspirated engines incorporating a air-scoop and isn't effective until the car is moving forward.

  • Hot air is your enemy, it causes improper combustion that can lead to pre-ignition or detonation. Which can lead to holes being burned through the piston or worse. Cold air is more dense by volume than hot air. Think of an engine as a air pump, the greater the amount of mass of air that can cycle through an engine for a given amount of time the more power it can make. Think of a turbo, it compresses air and then it cools it through a inter-cooler before entering the engine to make more power.

  • @AlphaEngineering247 you are incorrect. warm air intake will give you better FE.

reducing the density of the intake air by heating it effectively reduces the power of the engine at a given throttle opening (relative to the same engine with a CAI). to do the same work as the CAI-equipped engine, the throttle of the WAI engine must be opened wider at a given RPM. This increases engine efficiency by reducing throttling or pumping losses. CAI gives more power due to the density of air. char limit!

  • @mrbarnes86 but......Consider that the MAF will respond differently to warm or cold air because of the nature of it's operation. In the modern GM calibrations, the engine knows exactly the amount of air it consumes no matter what the IAT is. In short you are correct in theory but the calibration will compensate no matter what. In the end fuel consumption difference is negligible. The engine may respond to colder air depending on how the spark / fuel tables will react to it.

  • dude thats more of a ram air intake and you don't want worm air the warmer the air the less of it can fit in the cylinder you want cold air so you can get more in and a bigger hard explosion

  • wow people have no clue... video maker, you got it right, this is indeed a warm air intake, not a cold air dumb asses a real CAI is at the bumper not by the exhaust manifold

  • ram air is just not on turbos there buddy. and your loosing power having it by the manifold. and the air comin through the front vents of the car is cold enough at highway speed

  • That's why mine is in a heat shielded box soon to be full ram air when I pipe it out into the front bumber

  • it's not called a fucking warm air intake, it's called a short ram o.O moron

  • Calm down. Shit.

  • Doesn't look like a ram intake to me, there's no airflow going to it, just warm engine bay air. So, it's not a ram intake, it's not a cold air intake, what would you call it?

  • @greatsk8erX its actually cold air intake not warm. what a tard! haha but yeah i got ram air on mine to its tight

  • @greatsk8erX good god. it IS a warm air intake. a ram would have piping leading to somewhere away from the engine to bring in cold air.

  • @greatsk8erX I thought it was meant as a joke calling it a "warm air" intake.

  • You will have a drop in top end power, the warm air will have less oxygen in it because it is obviously less dense. Less air means less fuel, and less power. So technically you should see an increase in fuel economy, as well there is less pumping loss. (shorter less restrictive intake) so that should improve fuel economy as well.

  • doesn't hot intake temperatures increase the chances of engine knock??!! As well as less power!

  • i dont understand y would u want warm instead of a cold air intake... doesnt cold air provide both more power and better fuel economy?

  • theoretically

  • oh look! a hot air intake

  • cool now enjoy less power as your engine sucks in all that hot air

  • @Abbertont

less power, but more fuel economy

  • i dont know very much about this type of stuff, but can u have a warm air and cold air intake inat the same time,,,,im guessing no? and im ging to buy a cold air...any sudjestions, its my first car i wanan get started right

  • if you are only having a nicer looking air intake im not sure its worth it,propably better of with the original.if you change an airfilter just know what youre doing or find someone who does ;)

  • im lookin at a mustang gt, i wanna build up slowly from the intakes to the rest of the engine, and when everything is top quaility ima throw in a super charger

  • im sure you kan find someone who knows about this, theres garages who only tune cars or selfeducate like i should with my english :)

  • @baddabingbaddaboom18

warm=not racing. just daily driving nice fuel eco.

cold=racing, more hp cooler engine, burning more fuel so it goes vroom vroom

  • why would cold air burn more fuel?

  • Once you go Cold Air you will say WAI's is for Ricers! Trust me, A big cone WAI has less gains then a small cone CAI but a big cone CAI is definetly worth doing when possible. Also add ram air CRAI

  • why would you want warm air intake are you smokin crack

  • @andrew0901280 Unfortunatly for you, dipshit, this intake shown here is better than what came with the car factory. The tubing used is smoother and less restricting, and the filter is less restricting as well, and has more surface area. Besides that, the synthetic material used in the filter protects this engine better.

  • Short ram intake is used for more Horsepower/Torque gains in the lower RPMS

Cold Air Intake is used for more Horsepower/Torque gains in the Higher RPMS

    For example:

Honda Civic VTec - SHort Ram Intake is the best, an extra few torque/horse b4 that Vtaccccc kicks in

And a Mazda Rx8, Cold Air Intake is the best, Because its SUPER fast off the line, and starts to loose horse /torque gains over the higher RPMS, So the Cold air intake helps the Rx8 in a HUGE way (i used to own a rx8)

  • what can i get to add 4more horsepower to my 1999 honda civic LX, with a d16y7 engine that has 106Hp and 103Tq, i have a spectre intake and a exhaust already, how mcuh do you think that added to my car?

  • well said very true about v-tec and short rams

  • Well said

  • I don't mean to be rude but that comment you made about the benefits of SRI and CAI for different torque gains in different power bands is not true all. CAI almost always genarates more power than SRI but often requires more evasive moddification and risk of hydrolock.

However, certain cars can benefit more from SRI depending upon their lay out not whether or not they use V-TEC or suffer from lower torque at high RPM. Cooler air=higher density=more power across all power/RPM bands.

  • why would you take off the cai? and. p.s. taking off the cai or ram does not make your intake a warm air intake. its a short ram but whatev haha

  • he just means by staying so close to the engine that the air that enter is warmer than a far intake

  • Your car is a fail piece of shit, Enough said.

Dont even try to defend your stupidity moron

  • i must say... if your car is leakin oil and all that bullshit and mixing coolant. its called gaskets. oh and every manufacturer has their issues. BMW even has issues. friends 328i 2008 has gone through a fuel pump coolant pump and some wiring issues in 6 months. oh and also... its a damn video sheesh all you people are e-bullies to the max. let the guy do whatever.

  • good call crazymann i like you

  • Ricer, nice try cockfag,

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx WAI increases fuel economy and CAI increases power... and as far as that other guys comments go, he is just a retard.

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx american muscle

  • First off read the discription fag I I have a cold air I was making a tut on a do it yourself WAI

secondly, a ram Air is on turbo engines dumb cunt,

third its a warm air because its right next the the exhast manifold, thats not to much cold air is it fag

  • true, there are such things as warm air intake, but i think warm air intakes are for decreasing the amout of air going into your car to improve your cars fuel economy, am i right?

  • If this was even true its pointless as fuck, they come fuel economic out of the factory, leave the stock box on and its all good

  • No, cold air is better.

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx dude you are so wrong, warm air intakes have to go thru a heater box so they're actually warm not warmed up by the exhaust manifold. when ur goin 65 that warmth from your exhaust manifold will do little to warm the air going in. lol. secondly you don't need a turbo to have a short ram intake, thats exactly what you have right there, it was prolly written on the box when u bought it haha. no turbo needed. you can't just make up names cuz u think they sound right.

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx My lord you really are a dumbass no wonder you got a POS alero.. Lol

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx

No, Ram air intakes are not on turbo engines. What I bought for my evo is actually called a turbo air intake. Ram air is short ram style. It sucks in warm air, that is true, and loses power, as the factory box is built to suck in cold air, just not large sums. This takes the engine heat from around in the engine bay and sucks it in, causing power loss, bu gain in sound. It is a ram air though.

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx thats a short ram intake. being turbo has nothing to do with what kind of intake you call it. turbo cars can have short ram or CAI. but this is just drawing hot air into the engine. if anything you probably lost a few hp. all this does is make your car louder. there is no such thing as a "warm air intake". you can call it that if you please, but it makes you look like a "dumb cunt".

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx first off dumb fuck u cant put a cold air intake on something that is turbo charged dumb fuck and second off d bag even if it is by the exhaust its still gonna be a cold air cuz cuz it sucks air from the air flow when u drive so fuck off

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx LMFAO. U said "ram air is on turbo engines"

    LMFBO

    U are one dumb fuck!

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx Ram air are not always on fi cars... ever heard a pontiac grand am? They are na and they have ram air.. and btw your car sounds like shit and before you start bitching about that its in the description... who the FUCK would want a warm air intake? what the hell does that get you? and please dont buy a more aggressive cam for a fucking alero... save your money and buy something else.. not trying to be mean its the truth...

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx short ram isnt exclusive to turbo motors dude...

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx

RAM air is where you use non forced induction to increase horse power with resonance, for example if you have a 2.0Litre engine you need 305KMH of ram effectt to really improve power.

Cold air is always the key when improving the engine, colder air is denser and contains more oxygen helping alot in the combustion chamber, you also need to take in mind the amount induction created by the natural vaccum of the head when producing these,.

-10 degrees air temp = 3% more power

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx ram air is only on turbos???? ummm....no

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx Ram air are not for turbo engines alone lol.... Grand am Gt has it, Trans am's have it Stock..

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx I still dont think he'll understand

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx So if they only put "RAM AIR" on turbo charged cars why does the Trans AM WS6, Grand Am GT and the Grand Prix GT come with them? But who am I kidding. Finding people who know a lot about cars on you tube video comments is like trying to go into an Advance Auto Parts (or equivalent) store trying to find someone that knows what they're talking about. Usually doesn't happen. "Oh sir can you tell me where the Flux Capacitors are"?

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx ummmm i would have to respectfully disagree...im not a fan whatsoever, but i always see those grand ams farting along the road with their silly RAM AIR badge...and those grand ams DEFINATELY dont have forced induction...

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx Pontiac Grand Am GT.

Is not a Turbo Charged engine, Came with a Ram Air Intake.

    You sir, Don't know shit.

  • @gibsonlespaul2 Grand Am's have pathetic ram air intake that come into the the grille of the car, not like the actual ones that have a notch in the hood

And Grand Am's never came turbo charged, and if anyone did t/c it they are stupid

    You sir, are retarded

  • @TempleOfDogg

I know the ram Air intake on them sucks, And you don't have to have a notch in the hood, All you have to do is cut a whole in the wheel well, And install a Air Intake there, And the air is being forced into the Air intake.

The ones with the notch on the hood is just a Hood Scoop, Those are just for Aerodynamics and Looks.

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx grand am gt's have ram air

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx Ram air isnt only on Turbo Engines,

    IE Trans am Ws6

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx first, i understand the concept of the vid. "warm air intake" is pointless either way, doesnt help nor does it hurt... just adds the rushing air sound that people think adds power.

secondly, ram air is not on turbo engines, turbos dont need the ram effect because they suck in air where ever the fuck it can get it from, which can acctually make a ram air system void

third and final... why the fuck u modding an alero anyways?! they are grandma cars

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx a ram air is a custom box with an opening directed twards the front og the car. Its designed to take in much more air to the filter. It has nothing to do with forced induction. You should really make sure yout facts are straight before calling the guy whos right a dumb cunt.

  • Depending on when you want more horsepower? I have always wondered what the difference between a CAI and a short ram is. Are you saying that one of the other is for lower or higher RPM? I don't know what a warm air intake is either. o.0

  • @Hooning4Life Dude hooning ur a fuckin retard dude. just shut the fuck up. This is his video, his car, when u get a fuckin license you 12 year old homosexual, you can too make a video with your farcan civic. Thankyou

  • @Hooning4Life where is the intake gonna get cold air from sitting in the engine compartment unprotected. its not isolated from hot engine compartment temperatures is it

  • @craigodorius Im not gonna repeat myself or try to defend myself with dumbass rednecks and their Aleros.

  • @Hooning4Life how is this a cold air intake??? when the filter is just sitting open in the engine bay right next to the motor...dont you think its going to be sucking hot air thats comeing off the motor while driving??? mabe if he had a heat sheld to seal up the air filter so that the heat of the motor cant get in... but that looks to me like a hot air intake.....just becaus you buy some chrome pipe and a air filter doesnt make it a "cold air"

  • @Hooning4Life sooo dumb...

  • @Hooning4Life What a retard! Turbos are FORCED induction but all cars, turbo or not can have ram air. It's about how the air filter is 'fed' air from the front of the car, i.e. air is fed directly to the filter so it is 'rammed' into it.

  • Well. Hot air makes less power then cold air does. I do not see the whole idea of a "warm air" intake, Your decreasing power. Unless of course that was the idea

  • in the discription it says this learn how to read

I was showing someone how to make a Warm Air Intake for there alero so I took my cold air apart to make a warm air. At the end of the tut I made this video.. the sound isn't very good and the cold air sounds much better.

I have a cold air in my fenderwell right in the air dam of my front bumper

  • @xXMaHaNxCoReXx yeah smartass it says nothing in the discription about why you want a warm air intake.

  • @RiceReaper but it does have its benefits like in colder climates a WAI is safer for your car than a CAI due to the fact that when you have freezing tempatures outside your engine will have trubble starting up and running because then you are defeating the combustion triangle (heat, air, fuel) which in turn can cause damaging effects on you engine at those tempatures

  • @RiceReaper Does make a little improvement and more throttle response. Since the Hot Air helps the fuel to be burnt faster.

  • @09204418448 cold air actually helps fuel burn faster. Cold air is more dense so more of it can be sucked into each cylinder on the intake stroke. More air means more powerful burn.

  • @RiceReaper Your both wong, and its not called a warm air intake. That setup is a short ramintake design. The difference between the air temperature up there and down lower if it was a cold air intake isnt very much. When your driving even 20-30mph the entire engine bay is like a tornado. Short ram intakes actually give more of a lower end power gain. Cold air with their longer pipes produce power increases that can be noticed at much higher rpm's. I've always liked short ram more.

  • just buy an import they aren't going out of business anytime soon and last a lot longer.

  • It's been 8 months since I visited your page... I was asking about gas mileage in a false hope to keep the car tuned up, and taken care of!

The engine is mixing coolant & oil (chocolate milk!), leaking out oil, loosing engine power, head and mainfold intake gaskets are done for!

Steering rack leaking, power window motor gone!

I have been driving it for 10 km a day (literally!), only drove it 12,000 KM, spent ~ $1500 in repairs, and still breaking down!

    GM deserves to go broke

  • just saying. buds got an alero. nuttin bad with them but sounds like you have some knocking and ticking going on. das not good. otherwise hey your intake plenum looks nice. my buddy painted his the body color (greyish)

  • the 3400sfi always has knock ALWAYS!

  • fuckaleros4life owns a gremlin his father gave him.. he has been really mad lately.. he is myu neighbor!!! hahaha,, what a loser you are John..

  • warm air intake

  • I haven't checked this in Months and I see now that I should have, First off cockbags, if you could read, you would see that I said I was making a tutorial on how to remove the stock airbox and add an Cone filter for someone. Secondly My Alero would walk over the majority of you shit talkers cars, if not my fully built CRX or 2jz big turbo swaped 89 supra would.

  • you put a fucking INTAKE in an alero! what the fuck is the matter with you homosexuals go castrate yourselfs.

  • haha you dont really have a point. OMG you put an INTAKE on a scion tc...or HOLY SHIT you put an exhaust on a 240sx!...of WTF you put rims on a cobalt!!!

haha if you are going to bash on someone atleast have a good reason to dumbass haha

  • Your account name make you look like you have no life..... sorry just putting it out there.

  • your a fuckin idiot bud what you ridin in , u probly still got your training wheels on ur bike, grow some man balls btich ass

  • homofagotmaster

  • Wow your an idiot. Olds kicks ass you just suck on it. Get a life.

  • make sure u keep the air intake sensor connected to the air inlet hose, unless ur doing a cold air intake, in that case leave it off, so ur engine will prematurely die and you will get yours for being a gas wasting turd muncher

  • a true cold air intake won't be open like that, it will be routed down out of the engine bay and away from the heat. i put an air raid air filter off of a 6.0 powerstroke on my alero. i was actually impressed.

  • im sorry to hear u have a alero

  • Comment removed

  • a true cold air intake blah blah blah racer homos

  • what is this garbage? you took apart your cold air intake to make a warm air intake? your an idiot. cold air is wayy better for your engine. i dont understand what you are trying to achieve

  • Do you know that a warm air intake actually improves MPG because is has less oxygen per volume, which forces the ECU to cut back on fuel? It has it's benefits, increased MPG, quicker warm up times, and better atomisation of the fuel. All round it is a great mod if you're sick of paying through the nose at the pumps.

  • maybe at first.. you also do know right engine that efficiency is the main thing? cold air intakes cool the engine down more than stock.. therefore increasing the efficiency of your engine.. therefore increasing horsepower.. but I've found with my injen CAI that i do get a MPG increase.. mainly because the increased air flow... not to mention the 3-5 rwhp gain. Im sure if you ran your car all day long or took a solid road trip you would find that thing more harmful than beneficial

  • I appreciate what you are saying, but hotter engines are more economical than colder engines, and by raising the intake temp's you CAN save fuel. Have you noticed that in the winter months your MPG takes a dive, but your BHP appears higher? It's because the colder air contains more oxygen, the O2 sensor has no option but to maintain the air/fuel ratio at stoichiometric value, so it injects more fuel and you get a power boost. CAI's are great for power, WAI's are great for economy. I have both.

  • I'm pretty sure you meant cold air intake.

Besides it's the cold air that is better for your engine haha

  • he says warm air as a comparison to his old cold air intake, that is an open warm air intake, however it makes little difference on an engine with the hood up which one you have

  • lol no i think he does mean a warm air intake. There is no heat shield lol.

  • whats warm air? doesn't engine perform better with cold air intake why would you want warm air intake?

  • better fuel mileage

  • sounds like its dieing

  • sounds like its what? lol.

  • LOL

  • How do you get it to sound that good? i got the same filter as this it gets a whistle to it but how do you get it louder?

  • sell it and get a real car

  • YES THANK U WHAT A PEICE OF SHIT!

  • yea it is

  • IS That the 3.4L stock engine ?

  • sounds......

    interesting

  • Yo MaHaN , What kind of motor do you have in that alero ?? i wanna change mine for a bigger one =D

  • he has a 3.4L 170bhp.

  • i have been looking for a cold air kit for my alero for weeks. where can i find one and dont say doctor speed that piece of shit website dont work

  • try doctor speed.

  • you can get them from ebay

  • did the intake make your exhaust any different(was it any louder)

  • It sounds louder, but the sound comes from the Intake not the exhaust.

  • I know!

  • Rev limiter is set so low, drives me nuts with my alero

who sets it at 4k.... when it goes to almost 6800
