  • This was last used December 1985. All January 1986 releases had the shield, although the December 85 releases did carry the newer logo on the covers.

  • this makes me hate the warner music group more

  • Love the logo, despise the company!

  • I miss logos of this quality.

  • Thumbs up if you want a plushie of the \\' logo.

  • Its lone post-1986 appearance was on the 1964 film "Ensign Pulver," released on video in 1990.

  • i have the original uk issues of police academy 1 and 2 the copyright says that rank phicom duplicated the tapes

  • Deleted in 1984 Replaced With Chessy Shield In 1984

  • Also appeared on the original VHS releases of "Police Academy" 1 and 2.

  • I think this was on a VHS copy of A Clockwork Orange I used to rent from a local library.

  • Memories of the first Tiny Toons episode fill my head, seeing the WB shield chasing this logo around with a mallet in Wacky Land.

  • This is available on The Road Warrior, Death Race 2000, THX-1138, The Amityville Horror, Any Which Way You Can, and the Kung Fu pilot movie. This logo later made a surprise appearence on the 1990 release of Ensign Pulver, as well.

  • I Have this on Fandango.

  • This can also be seen in Gremlins as well

  • Yep! I had it on the Gremlins VHS. lol ;) Ive also been told that was the last video ever to use this logo. Im not sure if that is true or not though...

  • @AngelicStorm1 I saw the 1980 Warner Home Video logo on the 1986 VHS tape of Just Tell Me What You Want so it may have been used on a few 1986 releases.

  • @Jac2Mac I Saw A Copy Of Just Tell Me What You Want At A Flea Market In La Grange

  • @AngelicStorm1 It was indeed one of the last, though Never Ending Story may have been slightly later (or before). Reasoning was the covers and labels carried the newer shield logo, but the recording had the older bubble logo. Police Academy 2 I think was one of the first to have the shield, as unlike most other releases, it had a copyright warning before the logo whereas that logo usually went straight in.

  • I took that logo on my dad's Clint Eastwoods. It only showed up on ''Tightrope''. I needed to use different logos than this logo.

  • Taken from the 1982 VHS of "The Looney Tunes Video Show #3" and the Original UK Rental Tape VHS of "Risky Business".

  • I always thought they looked like fingers !

  • This logo also makes WMG sucks big time!

  • I have it on The Canidate and Sudden Impact.

  • Taken from Rock N Roll High School, Gremlins and I think The Goonies

  • The Goonies is from 1986 on VHS so it would most likely have the Cheesy Shield instead of this logo.

  • I remember this one from their mid-80s Golden Jubilee cartoon compilation vids...what I found interesting was that there was no fade-out after the FBI warning screen, it just slid right into the logo.

  • Not as good as the "Cheesy Shield" (Which might of been created by god himself), But still an enjoyable and cute logo.

  • This logo is currently used by the Warner Music Group, which spun off from Time Warner in 2003.

  • Pure nostalgia! I used to love renting movies that had this Warner Bros logo on the cover, because I knew they weren't copy protected and I could make myself copies, LOL! Ah, the days when VHS pirating was a big deal... Now, they're much more focused on people pirating DVDs... Times are a changin' :)

  • I got a Macrovision-busting box right away, so copy protection wasn't an issue for me! (Served 'em right for pricing movies at 80 bucks! It also works now for recording tapes to DVD and defeating the don't-record flag!) A bigger concern with the old logo was that it wouldn't have Hi-Fi, which meant it would only play in mono on my VCRs and be worthless in my mind. I've got ones that'll play the old linear track in stereo now so no big deal.

  • This logo reminds me of The Rubber Band from Dough For The Do-Do

  • Of course, WCI is short for Warner Communications Company.

  • Or, rather, Warner Communications Incorporated.

  • I have many tapes with this logo. This appears on the clamshell tapes mainly. I don't own any of the cardboard ones though. Magnum Force may have the WCI logo despite having Warner on the cardboard box. This can also be found on some small box releases like Gremlins and Purple Rain. At that time they were used in tandem with the clamshell cases (Ladyhawke may have been one of the last releases with this logo.) Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome uses the "Cheesy Shield" logo.

  • i know one prianah

  • Piranha is one of many films from the Roger Corman era of the New World Pictures library to be released under this label with this logo. Humanoids from the Deep, Rock n Roll High School, and Death Race 2000 are examples.

  • I think the last tapes to use the \\' logo were the Super Powers tapes with the Filmation cartoons featuring Superman, Superboy, Batman, and Aquaman.

  • Looks like these tapes also used different labels than most tapes of the time. These tapes were from 1985.

  • And the "Super Powers" videos as well. I have a 1996 reprint of the Batman Super Powers tape, with the \\' intact.

  • I have this on Heart is a Lonely Hunter.

  • I'm so glad they got rid of this "W" and brought back the old shield. The W now has a much more fitting home as the logo for Warner publishing.

  • Used from 1978 to 1985

  • The WCI Home Video variation of this logo ran from 1978-80.
