nobody may realize this but this is an exact replica of the early stages for the Kenny Brack / Mario Andretti crash. Car crashing early, another car coming. but this time Graham doesnt hit debris and go flying in to the overhanging portion of the catch fence. Its on you tube, I was there, just happening to watch mario test after school one april day for a few hours, and at 6PM u know what that means. It was the last lap, and there was only mabye 50 people to witness. Sweeet...that he was ok.
Damn, Rahal did some serious steering in his car. He had only seconds to make a manuever and then he had to avoid the other wall and all of this at what, going a football field a second.
Actually the Newman Haas team is different than the Haas that shares ownership with Stewart. As for the King, the team that prepared this car is Indycar team Dryer and Reinbold. Petty allowed John to use his name to assist in gaining sponsorship but thats it. Both teams are Indycar operations with no Cup presence. I can see how it would appear otherwise though.
If they weren't best buddies before this, they are surely now. If not for Graham's sick driving , John might have had a long recovery from the crash injuries.
Gotta give graham credit on that one. First not to hit Johns car, then to get his car slowed down fast enough not to hit the inside wall. Pretty sick driving.
Graham is the shit!!! I could tell you 100 drivers that would have t-boned the crashed car but Rahals got those quick hands. Although he saved his car i doubt he didnt save his john andretti's underwear...
Great move by Graham. Though, to WWE, as much as I'd like to make it safer, I don't know what else they can do besides slow down the cars. Those things are already cocoons.
I'd like to see them make the sidepods wider, so they extend to the outside of the tires, which would reduce the chances of the tires climbing when they hit, and it would also allow for more side protection for the drivers.
I'm glad they don't sit as far forward as they did back in the '80's...
wow I thought he was going to get killed...thank god, this is why I can't stand to watch Indycar racing...they need to make it safer, great job by Rahal to miss it or else John Andretti might have been killed
Man, Graham saved his life that day.

Grahams escape and Doornbos' drift. Great moves at more than 200 mph!
Great drivers!

That was a bad ass save by Graham Rahal there, no doubt about it. I don't care what anyone says this is so much better than NASCAR
