  • You can back off and exploit the squat kick to defeat the AI. They always walk into it. XD

  • Landing a roundhouse was oh-so satisfying!!!

  • 1:28 What.

Why didn't anybody tell me how to do this back then?

  • 1:39 KO!

  • I used to play this with my bro when i was a kid. I always wanted to be the guy in white lol

  • I remember playing this game for hours on end.

  • It's amazing how many people besides myself loved this game.

  • I remember getting it and being astounded that there were SIXTEEN DIFFERENT MOVES!!!!

  • All these years, and I never knew you were supposed to punch the bull.

  • one of my favourite C64 games......it was amazing for the time...still looks and sounds good today ;)) so playable.......thanks for sharing ;)

  • wow this brings back so many memories!! LOVE IT!!

  • Crap...! I could never beat the bull, so I was left in a kind of confusion if there was any kind of ending. So the mighty bull can be defeated - that is an accomplishment every obstacle in life pales to in comparison - everything is possible guys! Wow. Punching that bull straight to the kisser... yeah!

  • all i see is white pwning the hell out of red.

great days, a classic from long ago.

  • I always used to forget to turn down the sound while this was loading...that scream scared the crap out of me!

  • punching the bull is because this karate seems to be kyukinshi kai .-D

  • This was great.

  • I didn't know you could punch the bull. I think I always tried jumping over it and ended up dying every time

  • Good game. Can you beat the Amiga version?

  • I used to do spam jump kick to reverse kick to the head trick as I saw here, way before Namco and Capcom implemented anti-AI in their fighters heh. lol didn't know you could KO the bull tho

  • The bull only appeared on later versions of the game. You get to do Mas Oyama's karate stunt

  • Am sure in this case, the sound sampling slowed the game down somewhat, otherwise it should have been (almost) as responsive as the IK series.

  • i remember thinking at the time' it really cant get better than this!

  • You got the bull! I never got the bull..

  • It's the fucking low punch! But the controls were so bad, as you can see here, you can't actually do what you want. Sometimes the kick was in the wrong direction no matter how hard you mishandled your joystick. I think I broke some five Quickshots before I got the last one, which works on the Amiga as well, as they are Atari standard, unlike early PC controllers.

  • true, had c64 in 88,89,90,91,92 i really miss those years :(

  • Nothing wrong with the controls of the game, using Quickshot joysticks explains your problems though ;)...

I still remember those being total garbage. Had you had a Competition Pro you wouldn't complain, haha.

  • This game little better than interkarate.

  • @sergeu78

IK was a better game, but it also came later than Exploding Fist. WOTEF came out in 85, I think IK was 86. Of the two, Fist is probably the game that sticks in the mind of most 64 players because it was the first decent fighting game on the machine. Of course, it was really an unofficial adaptation of the coin-op arcade game Karate Champ.

  • I just remember that the controls were really sluggish, and the sampled "screams" were bloody annoying. The music was incredible.

  • sure, annoying, very well because basically you are bullock!! you can't compare that graphic with today one...1985-2008, I guess there is a Little difference, isn't?

  • arghhh, seeing graphics and gameplay like this is so refreshing. damn, these days, it could never have games like these again. thanks for the upload

  • Still plays very well even now especially with two and has a block function that actually works - IK+ just puts a hand up only to get hit anyway

Never understood why IK+ was supposedly better with it's broken block

Unless of course i'm doing something wrong in that game

  • Wot a great scream i remember buying this excellent game the day it was released love the bonus stage with the smashing of the bull a CLASSIC.

  • Why does this look exactly like International Karate?

  • because it was a spin-off, released just before IK+, if I remember correctly. the follow-up, fist+, was a lot better IMO.

  • This was before International Karate IK was cool though

  • And I was thought you were meant to try and jump over the bull!

This game had so much more character than International Karate.

  • I still think International Karate had better controls and animation though.

  • IK+ on the Amiga was the greatest. Especially when you press T. I never had the C64 version so I don't know if it works on that. Probably does. It's funny anyway.

  • IK+ was the best. But I have fond memories of Exploding Fist. And, yes, it did inspire me to do martial arts! (Lau-gar kung fu.)

  • Odd. My version on the Commodore 64 did not have the bull.

  • Gotta try that next time a bull is charging at me..

  • My God! Where did all the passion go... I guess it disappeared in a hurricane of graphics..... I wish I was 10 years old again... :(

  • Agreed...hey, I guess we're the same age then :)

  • 1976.... :)

  • @OxydesSGN Heres another old timer wtruck with severe amounts of nostalgia over this. That said, I do enjoy the games of today as well, but we can never have that magic back. I remember playing this one at a friends house the same day he bought the game. I didn'nt have a c64 myself at the time so when dinner time came it was a long, sad walk home. :/

  • know what you mean - then again imagine if we had the games the kids have today. we'd have sh*t ourselves with excitement. wow check out the grpahics on the loading screen! lol

  • you can goto the weblink, w w w dot thegamearchives dot com to find old C64 games to Download.

  • I loved this game, even though in game music was kinda boring after a while.

Fist II though...one of the hardest games ever. I never did beat that.

I did however (when I was around 8 or so) beat Dragon Wars, and Mastertronic Shogun. I guess thats an accomplishment LOL

  • oh my god you could punch the bull!!! I always jumped over it. haha. hey Oxy you were pretty good.

  • one of the best games ever

  • anyone got Fist II they can upload?? That game was so fuckin hard lol

  • we always tried to jump over the bull

  • I loved this game. Fuck Street Fighter, this was the beez neez. I was 4 years old when we got our Commodore and my dad copied like 200 games from a friend of his. So fun.

  • I'm glad to see there's quite a few nostalgic gamers out there...remembering these old - but brilliant - games. Will continue posting more videos once my PC is back on track - HD crash :(

  • I agree, though I love street fighter, this is the game that started it all for me!!! Takes me right back to childhood!

  • I always used to play this as a kid (I was about 14) The C64 version was far superior to them all. Id plug in 2 Quik Shot II joysticks - remember those crap expensive joysticks that used to break ??? - me and my brother would play. We would switch the time off and make the men just dance around the screen for hours it was fun. Id record the music on a tape recorder to listen too at night when I wasnt allowed the computer on. Those were the good old days.

  • Interesting, don't recall there being sound effects on my version. Thanks for this, never managed to get to then ending myself.

  • For me, it was dam hard to finish back in the days!!!

I always found probs with the controls (with a joystick), never cud really get into it! :( Then i discovered that i cud use a master system pad as it used the same port as the old 'puters back in the days! Slightly helped.... abit! lol :)

  • Classic, alway wanted to see the ending heheh wicked - nice one man! Now where's the ending of Last Ninja et co? :p

Keep it real, keep it C64, the KING of the 8bitter days!

    ~2PS~

  • Check my other videos for more C64 / SNES and retrogaming fun. BTW, is it me or these games are a lot harder now to finish then back then...lack of practice maybe.

  • LOL! Ox'd!
