You can store a specific tempo in a preset on the Nova Delay. Hold "type" button to switch between "global/preset" tempo. If the preset-button blinks then you have preset-tempo (like DL-4) - if it is steady it is "global" (shared tempo between presets). DL-4 can't share tempo between presets and you can't tap tempo in bypass mode. On the Nova Delay, the "Manual mode"-setting is always "global" tempo.
@DemoColorScheme I think it'd be beneficial for you to add an annotation in the video at about 1:05 that says "it does allow the tempo to be stored with the presets" or something to that effect. It may reduce the amount of comments you get about this because unfortunately not everyone reads the descriptions. Just a suggestion from one someone with videos on youtube as well. Cheers!
Pff .. two completely different units? You should research them on the internet, try them out or read some reviews.
I can describe some basic stuff, like saying that the Nova can hold up to 9 presets but basically is 1 delay that you can shape; the analog/digital/tape knob [tone] does shape the delays differently but as you know, the DL-4 can do more, has different sorts of delays and has a looper as well.
Good to hear you found your Flanger! And what are you looking for in a delay unit? I do have to say that this unit is the one I use the least of all of my delays. Don't let that 'rhythmic' delay fool you. You could do that with two delays - that's just actually what it is is, two delays. To me it's mostly just a digital delay. I find that the DL-4 has more vintage style delays which I found are great. It all depends on what you're looking for. And no, haven't tried the Damage Control timeline.
Just tap once on the "tap tempo" footswitch, quickly followed by a by a tap on the "on/off" footswitch. This will show the current prest number "P3." (notice the "dot"). While the preset number is still shown in the display, just tap the "on/off" footswitch to scroll through preset using footswitches only. It takes a little bit of practice, but is nice if you don't want to bend down. Remember that you can limit the number of presets to scroll through, by holding "Manual" then turning "Mod Level"
Hm .. are you sure? When I tried saving the tempo with my saving presets, it obviously didn't work. Do you have a Nova delay and tried this? If so, I might have another look at it.
You said in the review, that Nova Delay is not able to store the tap tempo in a preset. Actually, it is possible to store a specific tempo in a preset, so it works like DL4. Just hold "Type" button for a few seconds and the "Preset" button will start blinking. This means that you can now store the tempo in preset (non-blinking means shared tempo between preset and manual = global tempo).
What you can do with Nova Delay, but not with DL4, is to tap tempo is bypass mode.
Very good choice. I wouldn't sell the DD-2 or the DM-3. The Nova Delay is great replacement for your BOSS DD-6. You can still do what the DD-6 did, but with 'a shiteload of options' ;). I actually sold my DD-6 for this one. So, maybe that helps as well.

Yes, we know. It has been said before. Read the description:
"Edit: Thanks to StephanRNielsen I've learned you CAN store tap tempo's simpy by holding down the 'type' button.
Thanks a lot!"

The Nova IS much smaller than the DL-4 and can hold 9 different delays while the DL-4 can just hold 3.
I just sold my Nova because I bought a TimeFactor which is whole other step up.

ok..nice demo.but om deciding between nova delay and boss dd-20? anyone can help me decide..pls.thnks
bigskymind81 2 years ago
Try to try them out both? To each his own, of course. I personally prefer the Eventide TimeFactor. I've sold the Nova Delay.

Hello DCS... I finaly found my Flanger and now I'm still for delay..
I still amazed at those textures you get there. The distorted sound in the begining is very inovative..
Anyway this nova seems quite an alternative to going vintage isnt it? Have you ever tryed the Damage control timeline?

Hey thanks for sharing your personal experience here..
I'll have to post a demo of my stuff... soon.. the dl-4 is so ugly but if the sound is there.. who cares about looks.. ;-9
smartti1970 2 years ago
Ha, indeed; who cares what it looks like? I personally don't think it's ugly. And besides that, it's not a garment you're wearing! ;)

Nova Delay or the DL4

Depends on your needs, obviously. Both are different units with different specs and different advantages.

Mwah, not that much. It's doable but I play barefooted, so I just gently press the 'preset' button a couple of times with my big toe. :D

haha! Right on! Dump your BOSS delay and get this one. I did and I've never had a second of regret!
DemoColorScheme 3 years ago
good idea, i just may do that, and have cash left over.
torturesofthedamned 3 years ago
Do it! Trust me. You won't want to go back to the BOSS delays anymore.
DemoColorScheme 3 years ago
think im gonna dump dd-6, and add cash to get it, then ill decide on the dd-2, kinda cant part with dm-3, or dd-2 just yet.
