In psychology we learnt men value youth (less chance of raising another man's child if she's a virgin) and women value status (more resources devoted to raising children). There's room for individual variation: homosexuality is a major example of that, but there may be a biological determinant for odd behaviour like preferring women shaved and men not. Or maybe there isn't and it's entirely societal, who knows?
I agree with Dan though, challenging even behaviour we may be inclined to can be helpful. Overcome stereotypical gender roles, etc. If they demand you shave or let them fuck you in the ass, do likewise.

My boyfriend is 99% hair and I love him, I find ridiculous that women or men shave their armpits or pubes just to please other people or to follow the norm, if they do it because they want and makes them happy, I agree with that.
there is nothing wrong with hair on either gender, its naturally there and doesn't equal being unsanitary if you take the steps to keep your hygiene under control.

Dan, for me body hair is great- but there is a reason why I manscape and require every guy I'm with to do so. Pubic hair (a guy's "bush") is like a pheromone sponge. The thicker it gets the more musk it can and will contain. Regardless of whether they just showered or not. And I have a very sensitive nose. So while the natural musk of a guy IS very sexy- too much of a good thing is . . . too much of a good thing. It overpowers and becomes kind of revolting. Trimming eliminates the excessive musk

Some like a head of broccoli between their dates thighs. Personally, I think it depends on the lady. Whatever suits a person's body shape and so on. Some women have absolutely beautiful pubic hair, and it'd be a shame to shave.
I'm a gay guy and I like not having any hair down there. When I did have it it was itchy and I didn't like it at all. Now I have nice smooth skin there now :)
