  • Why would Singapore Open be classified as SS Tournament anyways? They are not a strong badminton nation to begin with, let alone their players are all imported products from China and Indonesia.

It's alright Lin Dan, you proved your worth in the London 2011 and you dont have to pay heed to all these first class quality and third class mentality Singaporeans.

  • Saw a news related to this, from China website, Sina..

i can't post the link here, but the most 'wonderful' part are...

well....in shorts.....Li Yong Bo say..." People say singapore are clean, I don't think so, or else how would he diarrhea upon reaching here?

  • @ongbahk

I believe Zhang Yi Mou. i dont think youngsters nowadays can be told what to do,especially when they are big stars, and no one can stop team-mates for making a pact amongst themselves, its true of any team. There are of course team orders during Olympics and maybe some other crucial tournaments.

  • Wave is known for not being very tactful and diplomatic about other places and people. Fact is anyone can catch diarrhea anywhere. There may be germs in the water for eg.

  • Imagine LD being dumb enough to play his heart out in every minor little tournament to meet the wishes of his evil intentioned rivals' fans and then missing out in the Olympics because of some injury sustained. Then the match we want to see to rival 2008 will not happen. LCW is also peaking and focusing on the Olympics. I for one want to see the big showdown and wouldn't want both of them to miss out just for some peanuts and allow a 3rd player to gain from the opportunity.

  • Lets not think that this is Lin's decision - he will be forced to do it by China team.

  • @amleto300 Its known that LD only wants to play to win and hates losing to anyone.Imagine you were LD,

the BWF and cronies force you to play 9 tournaments against your will and wants to take action against you if you play badly against teammates as suggested by some idiots even if you are not in good condition, then you need to bring up your struggling teammates, what should LD do i this situation ? In World's notice that BWF has arranged all LD's teamates on LCWs side of the draw.

  • BWF made a rule forcing players to play 9 SS tournaments. LD probably wants to avoid injury playing too many (unlike big-mouth Taufik who plays crap and talks rot).So he plays below par or paves the way for team-mates.Any team with such depth will and have (esp.Indonesia) have a team order.

  • Well , this is Singapore...

  • This tournament is nothing to him.

  • I do kind of feel sad for him for wat happend. Im a big fan if lin dan, and chong wei (but more with lin dan) but mayb u could have faced ur ilness, and made a sacrifasation for the chinese team. I competed in the LYB with a fracture in my ancle. Wat can b worse thn tht wen ur playing profesionaly, and im only a 14 year old teen. My friend had to choose between badminton and ping pong. He choose ping pong. Next day i break my ancle. The Dr. Said tht i am not allowed to play, but i made sacrifas

  • this is not the lin dan i fell in love with in 2004

  • As much as I disliked seeing Lin dan concede a walkover, let's be realistic. He plays for the Chinese national team which provided for him since he went into the system. Of course the system isn't going to give you something and expect nothing in return. You're expected to make sacrifices for the good of the team. Telling Lin Dan to disobey the team and play anyway is fine. If players start doing that, China will probably stop funding them (just as they did with the tennis program).

  • I was live there, singaporeans are being bastards boo-ing Lindan. Lin dan is still a human. He can do whatever he wants. And after Lin Dan apologises, th crowd jeers at him over and over again. After his conceded, It was FHF/CY against an indo pair. The crowd immediately turned to support the indo's , When FHF/CY won a point, they could care much about it. THe crowd cannot understand how Lin Dan feels, 1 of the audience even shouted in chinese " Go back to China". Disrespectful crowd.

  • He plays great badminton but he never gets my respect.

  • 李永波去死

  • @mynahbird20000

The doc has certify that he was sick....

LD even lost to Sho Sasaki in Indonesia Open...

Apparently, every1 think LD is GOD, but he is just a human being....

  • The problem with this picture is Lin Dan doesn't look like a sick or injured person hence the booing by disappointed paying fans, he should have played to prove he's really sick, but to be fair it is either him or the Chinese officials who is behind this , so we can only guess and rue at the missing chance to see a good game. Bottom line is he should have played, my opinion

  • LD did the right thing to W.O. No matter if it was for CJ's olympic qualification, people need to respect the fact that LD is human as well. People who were booing him are just ignorant bastards who only care about the money they spent to watch a finals match. People don't think about themselves before acting and resort to terrible things like racism and stuff like that.

  • @Aznremix

I dont think LD did the right thing. Assuming he was not sick the least he could do was to play out the finals below par and lose just like in the Indo Open.He has to learn some acting skills and be a bit more of a hypocrite, like some other veterans who never give their best in the tournaments they play crap.

Maybe he is some kind of perfectionist, who only want to do things well or not at all.

as for paying spectators LD actually gave them their money's worth in the QF and SF.

  • @mynahbird20000 Okay fair enough. But remember he had to play the Indo Open right AFTER this tournament. I think he wanted to prepare for that tournament more than risking his life on court and making the illness spread further into his body. Perhaps the doctor even told him not to play the finals, you never know. But i do agree they could at least do a light exhibition. LD looks fine when he was talking. LD has nothing more to prove. Hes already Olympic and world champion. What more do you want

  • @Aznremix That is total bullshit, this is a competition. He obviously let his teammate win to accumulate points and easily qualify for the olympics. This has nothing to do with money or show, in a competition it's always "may the best man win", not a friggin' business, it's the spirit of the competition that matters. Walkovers, unless absolutely necessary because of a major crisis, should never be allowed.

  • What Lin Dan needs to realise is that he has fans all over the world who look up to him, (discounting the irrational, racist and brainwashed hordes of equatorial South East Asia who can be written off without any loss).

Just like Liu Xiang,Li Na,Ma Lin,Yao Min etc.people from America, Europe and many other parts of the world idolise him, and he should do his best to make himself worthy of that trust and admiration in all possible ways, and that message should also be transmitted to his bosses.

  • @mynahbird20000 I feel sorry for LD. It is obviously not his intention to concedes a walkover. It make no sense because he does not gain anything from it. It is only beneficial to the national interests which give CJ the qualification points he need for Olympic and he is ordered (forced) to retire.

LD is a player that always desire to win, and he had mentioned that before. Just look at his face and see how disappoint and sorry he is. I don't blame him but rather the stupid China officials.

  • I'm quite appalled at the way Lin Dan is 'going around', throwing the whatever like throwing leftovers to dogs. Great badminton player? Yes, Sportsman? afraid No.
