If these two guys faced each other when they were younger they could have had a good trilogy. It had Ali-Frazier written all over it...not on the same level but it could have been a similar touch to it. Too bad they waited way too long for this fight to happen...

Tyson frequently broached the subject of his prolific marijuana usage during interviews in the days leading up to his crushing knockout defeat to Danny Williams in Louisville
Another time he was asked about the Lewis fight, Tyson replied: “Man, I don’t know what I was on. Maybe I just smoked too much weed. There’s no doubt I’ve been a monster.”
@crashsekou24 sorry CHAP, but he lives in Canada now.. as i saw him at my gym the other day with his son training him... aaaand he has medals with the canadian olympic.. nuff said :P
@JoeBlowYo1 so what if he has medals with canada that doesn't make him canadian he was born in great britain his parents were british which makes him british
TYSON'S LAUGHING!; It's a night on the boos for Lennox.
Sunday Mirror (London, England) Date: May 12, 1996
If Lennox was dragged to the wire by 35-year-old Ray Mercer, is there a prayer against Mike Tyson? The crowd have experts on their side. Riddick 'Big Daddy' Bowe claims: "It was Mercer by two. If I landed clean shots on Lewis the way Mercer did, he'd be put to sleep fast."
end of his career tyson lost his head movement for sure, he was unbeatable before king and crew fucked him up and he partied to hard, too mucstrength training as well
ROFL. you fucking idiot mike tyson dick suckers. Tyson paid Lewis money in the 90's to NOT FIGHT. This is fact. I can bring out the article links to anyone that don't know this yet. Mike Tyson literally paid lennox 4 million dollars to not fight in the 90's and to let mike fighter holyfield instead. ROFL. That went real well.
@exploitivex ......Mike wasn't in shape. If he had gotten in shape he would have beaten Lewis. But he quit against Lewis. That whole fight sucked! Lewis didn't do anything great or spectacular! He hit Mike with a couple of shots and Mike got a couple of cuts. Then, Mike tried to quit in the corner, but they sent him out. After that, Mike just laid down. He could have knocked Lewis out if he had only trained.
What the fuck is with all the retarded bullshit posts, on every fucking bout it seems. Calling these fucking gladiators pussies, regurgitating the same lame bollocks about 'oh if he'd have fought such and such in his prime', It doesn't matter, it doesn't mean shit what kind of shape somebody 'used' to be in, how great they 'used' to be. All that matters is the fight, the here and now. Both fighters went into it with eyes wide open, they both knew the score and accepted the challenge.
They both believed they could win, doesn't matter who they are. Show some fucking respect for them, because boy.. they'd make a fucking mess of you on any given day. The lack of respect on youtube 'forums' is pandemic. Lewis and Tyson both deserve the respect they're due.
There was no fear Tyson would need to submit to a drug test for Friday night's bout. Illegal narcotics and steroids conveniently aren't banned substances according to the Kentucky Athletic Commission.
Another time he was asked about the Lewis fight, Tyson replied: "Man, I don't know what I was on. Maybe I just smoked too much weed. There's no doubt I've been a monster."
It's like when Mike Tyson fought Lennox Lewis. Tyson had to take some medication to fight Lewis. You're the champion, and you're going to make sure that somebody takes their medication.
Lewis said. Today's Tyson is no longer the Tyson of legend after being beaten twice by Evander Holyfield. And after the second Holyfield bout - a low point in sports history - things really went downhill.
Lewis said. "I understand that he still has a lot of fans out there, but they're fans that look at him when Tyson was Tyson. The Tyson of today is a different man."
He had fought only 19 rounds in five years against inferior opponents. Lennox Lewis was a different breed of cat.
Lewis doesn't belong with the great heavyweight champions. But he has all the tools, and this was one night when he used them to perfection.
"Everyone is holding on to that image of Mike Tyson from 10 to 12 years ago," Emanuel Steward, Lewis' trainer, said before the fight. "That Mike Tyson is gone."
Tyson=Chump .See also animal and idiot. He was no match for Douglas ,Holyfield or Lewis. In other words ,when he started fighting good fighters HE LOST! You people need to stop making excuses for him. I enjoyed everytime he got his ass beat, especially this fight.
@maximus81071 your comment cracks me up. "Tyson was no match for douglas" lol Tyson was a 42-1 favorite, holyfiled, and lewis fought a washed up tyson. Do you know how ignorant your comment is? you may not like tyson but atleast show some kind of boxing knowledge. Tyson beat a bunch of good fighters but you seem to just hate on him at any given chance
@Zlogical1 Pinklon Thomas at the time was a good fighter, Mitch Green was decent nothing to brag about, Razor Rudduck fought a good fight with Tyson. Bruce Seldon wasnt good wasnt bad, same with Frank Bruno. Not a lot of good competition in that era. especially since he missed sometime in prison
@tappmoney18 So the greatest heavyweight of ALL TIME beat Pinklin Thomas, Mitch Green & Razor Ruddock. That's it? Wow I guess beating Foreman, Norton & Frazier must have been easy as pie. Oh yeah Bruce "did that punch even land" Seldon. On These opponents & having Holyfield & Lewis slap him around he's the GOAT. ROTFL.
@Zlogical1 who said he was the greatest heavyweight of all time? You bring up Lewis and Holyfield like they fought Tyson when he was in his prime with Rooney. LOL. Din Ali really KO Liston in their rematch?? Doubt it! Bringing up Lewis andHolyfield is like bringing up Leon Spinks, Trevor Berbick, and Larry Holmes when they beat Ali! It has no value
@tappmoney18 That's my point it doesn't matter because HIS Prime was built on BUMS. You proved it yourself because you couldn't name a real world class fighter he ever beat. So while I think he's great he's OVER RATED. Holyfield & Lewis are both older than Tyson and from his 84 Olympic class so yeah They count for beating him. Holmes, Spinks, & Berbick are all much younger than Ali. See the difference. Tyson failed to beat the best of HIS time Lewis Holyfield or even Bowe.
@Zlogical1 Bowe wasn;t great at all. he was good but not great. Lennox hid from a prime Tyson lol. He decided to stay an amateur for another 4 years after the olympics I believe... Holyfiled never mentioned Tyson until he got with Don King. so my point is when Tyson was With Rooney an Properly trained who beat him?
@tappmoney18 Holyfield called out Tyson as soon as he won the Cruiserweight championship in 88 he moved up and called out Tyson. Tyson, Lewis, & Holyfield all tried out for the 84 Olympics. Tyson failed to make his team. Holyfield who slapped Tyson around in sparring at the training center did. Lewis lost in the 84 games. But in 84 had also stomped Tyson in sparring. So neither ever had a reason to fear Tyson. Nor could Tyson's decision to turn pro in 84 have an impact on them.
@Zlogical1 no Lewis got dominated by Tyson when the firs sparred together at the age of 15. Lewis Hid from Tyson until he seen the prime opportunity to call him out. I like Holyfield but he's been caught on hgh.so he credibility has gone down with me. but I do respect what you are saying. your not ignorant like other people on here
@tappmoney18 youtube search Tyson lewis 1984. Mike's own words. I knocked him out of the ring. Interviewer really. What happened ? Tyson then HE GOT BACK IN THE RING AND TRIED TO KILL ME. Cus said u 2 boys will fight for the championship some day. Lewis trainer says the same Mike knocked Lewis down with his first charge. Then Lewis said ok got up and figured out how to out box Tyson for the rest of the week. Both sides agree on what went down. search it on you tube.
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward What did he say after that and in the rest of the video idiot. HE got back in the ring and tried to KILL ME. oops Guess your retarded self missed that part or the part were Cus praised Lewis or the part where his manager said he Lewis handled him pretty easily for the rest of the time. You can't quote mine out of this Tyson semen taster.
'What you mustn't forget is that if I hadn't gotten into trouble and been sent away, you would never have heard of guys like Holyfield and Lewis. I would have gutted them like fish.
'Some people's memories are shaky. If you want to know what really happened when we were kids, ask me?' So, naturally, we did.
'Bang, boom,' he replied. 'I knocked him out of the ring. I've been trying to get him back in there ever since.
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward holyfield was champion before tyson got sent away tyson left rooney like a dumb ass then got kod by douglas if tyson woulda fought evander any time after leaving rooney the result would of been the same holyfield would bully him because tyson became just a puncher
@ItsDatGirlJordz Hard to say, Tyson admitted to abusing drugs and alcohol since his marriage broke down in 1988.
He tried to commit suicide. He looked like shit way before Douglas, had millions in the bank and no hunger for boxing anymore. You can't judge a fighter on their down side, but any Tyson from 1988 onwards Holy has a good chance of beating him, he had a good chin, heart and determination and belief
@ItsDatGirlJordz lol Your comment only proves how ignorant you are to boxing. Lennox best skill was being a opportunist. He knew if he turned pro and came to Amercia he would have to face Tyson. So instad he decided to hold his pro debut until 89 if im correct. But yea being an amateur hs a lot of sentimental value tho ROTFL
@tappmoney18 Coward Lummox Lewis had been hiding in the amateurs since 1983, even competing, and losing badly 0-5 to Tyrell Biggs in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
Hardly surprising, imagine what late-80's Tyson would of done to that sponge cake chin?
@tappmoney18 serously you are embarrising its a great accomplishment to win gold and lewis stayed around to win that tyson wasnt even pro in 84 and couldnt even make the olympic team lewis had nuthink to worry about lewis stayed to win the gold and guess what he won it so now hes got that in his legacy were as tyson he was afraid of lewis he payed 4 mil not to fight lewis in 96 then finaly fought him when he was broke
@ItsDatGirlJordz What about the 13.5 mill Tyson offered Lewis( highest at that point) to fight him but Lewis declined an took 3 mill of step aside money to let Tyson fight Seldon instead. Get your facts rand your grammar right
@tappmoney18 you mean the 13.5mil you just made up? tyson wouldnt face lewis even tho lewis was ranked number 1 by the wbc so lewis sued him and settled for 4mil dont act like tyson ever wanted lewis back then because he didnt
@tappmoney18 How is that they all had Don King? Ali had a long lay off. Ali had Marital Problems. To qoute Antonio Tarver What excuse you got now Mike.
@tappmoney18 Cnt'd Tyson turned pro while the games where still going on as he didn't make the team. Tyson had Cus to help him get promoted and line up concussion cases for him to KO on tv and look good. Lewis did not have that kind of push so to make big money as a pro he had to have an Olympic gold medal. To understand the difference Tyson's 1st contract with Cayton paid Cayton 50% of his earnings for LIFE.
@tappmoney18 BTW stop blaming Don King. Guess what Larry Holmes, Ali, Holyfield, Foreman ALL had dealings with Don King! Guess what they kept winning. Don King another bullshit excuse. How come Don King didn't cause Holmes,Foreman,Ali, or Holyfield to lose. Just Tyson. Yup it was all Don King.
@tappmoney18 Now Tyson with no gold gave up 50% of his earnings for life to Cayton. Lewis figures out real quick a Gold medal was worth 90% of his purses kept by him + millions from cable+ all his expenses living and training paid by cable+ His mom put on salary at 100k. That's all in pounds not dollars. So B4 he threw a punch he was raking in millions. That's called understanding the game. It was money that drove him to get the gold medal. He readily admitted it.
@tappmoney18 You can say that about any boxer. When did they lose when they where with x trainer AND properly trained. See you can always throw out he wasn't properly trained. A fighter's JOB is to be properly trained so it is a bullshit excuse and circular logic. Oh Tyson woulda won but he wasn't properly trained. Or Holyfield woulda or Lewis or Bowe or Steve Zouski woulda won .but he wasn't properly trained. Insert any fighter and the logic holds.
@tappmoney18 lennox hid hahaha he stayed amauter to get gold not to hide when you take a bath does that mean your scared of a showe no you idiot it means thats what you wanna do and that what lewis wanted to bless you with your dumb ass brain
@ItsDatGirlJordz "The World Boxing Council wants Tyson to defend against Lennox Lewis of England, a former champion and now its No. 1 contender. Lewis turned down a $13.5 million guarantee to fight Tyson. Lewis then accepted $4 million from King to step aside and allow Tyson to fight Seldon, with the proviso that Tyson, assuming he beat Seldon, would fight Lewis next. Tyson is expected to receive $30 million for fighting Seldon." there is the answer to your ignorace
If this were the Mike Tyson of years ago Emanuel Steward might be a little more worried
Steward, thinks Tyson is just a shell of the fighter he once was.
"Everyone is holding onto that image of Mike Tyson from 10 to 12 years ago," Steward said. "That Mike Tyson is gone."
Tyson has fought only 18 rounds against second-rate fighters since biting Evander Holyfield's ears five years ago, and his opponents are finding it easier to figure out
Mike Tyson - Before we encroach this subject, lets rewind to 1998 and a statement by Emmanuel Steward about the quality of Lennox Lewis's opposition-"Lionel Butler was on drugs, Oliver McCall was in and out of rehabilitation with drug and booze problems and Tommy Morrison went on drinking binges before the fight,"
Mike Tyson admitted he was ALSO a washed up drug addict in 2002!
In a report headlined \"Did Drugs Make Tyson Easy Target for Lewis?\" on the Internet website boxinginsider
He showed hardly any aggression, although he did win the first round. From round four onwards he seemed to stand still while Lewis picked him off with the jab and landed repeatedly with big rights to the head.
Tyson's behaviour after the bout was equally uncharacteristic. He was like an old-fashioned gentleman loser who praised the winner and asked for a return fight.
'Thus, only one medical battle remained to be fought. It was important to the Lewis camp that drug testing be conducted after the fight; not before it. Emanuel Steward was insistent on that point, and he prevailed."
31.03 - How is Tyson these days? How is his condition?
what appears to be marijuana, which was passed onto him by a bunch of kids. The pipe that he was smoking from was made from a hollowed-out papaya stem and a seashell. After taking a few hits, Tyson laid on the ground and was laughing with a bunch of kids who gathered around him. Tyson looks out of shape and not even close to being ready to fight Lewis
31.03 – How is Tyson these days? How is his condition? Although nobody knows for sure, with the exception of Mike and his camp, which been saying that that Tyson is training hard and is in great condition. Recently Tyson has been spotted by the National Enquirer, partying with a hippie crowd in Maui, in the photos Tyson is seen smoking something, what appears to be marijuana, which was passed onto him by a bunch of kids
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward how was the drug test fine so what was tyson on nuthink he failed a drug test after golota so if he was smoking again he would of failed it again you love making stuff up but guess what tyson lost he got kod he ducked lewis in the 90s then when they finaly met tyson got kod by the best heavyweight in the world at the time

The World Boxing Council wants Tyson to defend against Lennox Lewis of England, a former champion and now its No. 1 contender. Lewis turned down a $13.5 million guarantee to fight Tyson

@Superwhodatt Will Tyson be on his meds when he steps into the ring?
Thursday June 06, 2002 5:46 PM
The Tennessee Boxing and Auto Racing Commission doesn't have mandatory drug testing. The World Boxing Council will, however, test before Saturday night's fight, but it allows anti-depressants
"I have no idea what he is taking," Sulaiman says of Tyson. "If there is any medicine prescribed by a doctor to help a human being and it is not intended to create superiority, then that is accepted."
@SuperwhodattTyson at his worst; puts title bout in jeopardy Thursday, 24 January 2002 02:05
He was convincingly beaten by Holyfield in their first championship fight in 1996, and banned for 12 months after biting his opponent’s ear in the rematch.
Since then Tyson, who has been on medication to control his extreme mood swings, has strained what remains of his credibility by beating a succession of patently inadequate opponents
Tyson has fought only 18 rounds against second-rate fighters since biting Evander Holyfield's ears five years ago, and his opponents are finding it easier to figure him out.
Razor Ruddock - a walking Asthma Attack who had already been ko'd by a bum called David Jaco who retired with a 24-25-1 (18 by KO) record, who had never held any version of a world title and no relevant wins
Frank Bruno - 1993- Famous for stamina problems and a caramel chin (James Smith '84 + Witherspoon '86) washed up Bruno had fought just 4 times (against bums) since a KO to Tyson in '89

When asked about his fight with Lennox Lewis, he revealed how out of shape he was and how “I had no business being in that ring” and freely admitting, “I needed the pay check.” Once a name people brought up as maybe the best heavyweight to ever step into the ring, then a name brought up for jokes about biting people’s ears to now “look how fat he got and how sad he is”
Mike Tyson, interviewed in dressing room directly after the fight.
" There's no way I could ever beat ... he's just too big and too strong..he's just a consummate fighter. Asked why not the speed of past years, Tyson said "he had hurt me early, I was just trying to keep the pressure but he just kept me hurt on from early til the end of the fight,,,but he was fighting great, he just basically wore me down"
@Superwhodatt Inside lines: Did drugs make Tyson easy target for Lewis?
The Independent (London, England)
June 16, 2002 | Alan Hubbard
Mike Tyson was on drugs when he gave such an abject performance against Lennox Lewis in Memphis. This is not disputed by the president of the World Boxing Council, the Mexico-based Jose Sulaiman. Indeed, he even gave the former champion his approval to use them.
Mike Tyson - June 2002- This is Lennox's biggest con. Tyson, destroyed by British club-fighters Danny Williams and Kevin McBride more decisively than Lennox Lewis who took 8 rounds to literally push an exhausted overweight 235lbs Mike Tyson to the canvas. This is not surprising, he'd boxed just 18 rounds in 6 yrs and was pictured 03/2002 in the National Enquirer smoking marijuana with hippies in Hawaii
Tyson snapped a ligament or something like that against Williams, you can see him suddenly dip. Would have beaten Williams otherwise. This was 2 years after Lewis fight, Tyson was 38, and past it. Still dangerous at 36, Stopped Clifford Etienne, rd 1, after Lewis fight. CE could have risen no doubt, but would have gone down again, so made the right decision.
Hasim Rahman - A fighter who didn't even take up boxing until the age of 20, making his pro debut at 22 in 1994 a guy with no punch resistance, not just been ko'd, but out of the ring in 1999 by Oleg Maskaev. Lennox got ko'd in 5
Hasim Rahman 2 - Lennox won in 4 in a 2001 rematch, so poor was Hasim Rahman that he didn't win another fight until a 2004 U/D "HBO Ballroom Boxing" match with 41yo Al Cole
Rahman fought James Toney and David Tua to a draw. Was headbutted out
of the Holyfield fight. Known for his right hand. Seemed to have even ( then ) rock chinned Tua hurt momentarily in the first fight. KO'd Jef Wooden, Tua could not. Beat the likes of Jesse Ferguson, (who beat Mercer) etc. Lucky punch made him famous.
Holyfield best victories, Bowe, Tyson. Lewis stops Bowe, rd 2. Lewis Ko's Tyson, with broken hand, rd 8, despite fighting Tyson and Cotton.
Ali's best victory, Liston, Foreman, Frazier.
George said Lewis best ever, Frazier hurt by Bugner + Bonavena, nearly down to Ali rd 2 fight 2. Lewis has easy KO, just like 4man. Frazier far too small.
Lewis way bigger than Liston, 250 vs 215-220, more effective reach, 84"+6'5" vs 84 + 6'1". = Ko to Lewis, as per Leotis Martin, Ali.
@Superwhodatt LENNOX LEWIS = NOT EVEN CLOSE TO "STOPPING" BOWE-THE BUM CAN'T "STOP" ANYBODY-WATCH THE TAPE......ITS ON YOUTUBE

LENNOX LEWIS = SPONGE CAKE CHIN
LENNOX LEWIS = WORSE CHIN THAN FRAUDLEY + DAVID GAYE
@Superwhodatt Mike Tyson interview: The iron man melts
The Observer, Sunday 5 December 2010
Article history
Both came with Tyson well en route to becoming a recurring sideshow, featuring mostly drug-related arrests. Lennox Lewis, who effectively put an end to Tyson's career in 2002, called him a "train wreck waiting to happen".
(c) LENNOX (COWARD) LEWIS
So what were you thinking?"
"I was on fucking drugs, thinking I was a god… I was already done."
@Superwhodatt George Foreman remembers Joe Frazier November, 8, 2011 NOV 8 6:33 PM ET EmailPrintComments 14 By Dan Rafael Even his fighting style was his way of life. When the bell rings, he would not back up from King Kong! I know. I knocked Joe down six times in our first fight. When our fight was over, Joe was on his feet looking for me. JOE FRAZIER = IRON CHIN LENNOX LEWIS = SPONGE CAKE CHIN LENNOX LEWIS = THE MAN WHO COULDN'T FIGHT KEEP TALKING
Tyson is out jabbing Lewis in the beginning of the first round, that's interesting, it's the one advantage that Lewis is supposed to have. Things only change when Tyson starts foolishly diving inside. Also look at how much Lewis is clinching early on. Shows how dangerous a prime Tyson would have been to Lewis.
Evander Holyfield - Lennox cleverly waited until Holyfield was 37 years old to finally muster up the courage to fight him. Holyfield had already once retired with a congenital heart defect and looked a shadow of his late 90's-Early 90's prime. After Holyfield winning a controversial decision against Vaughn Bean in 1998, Lennox Lewis realised this was the "perfect moment" to face Evander Holyfield
@Superwhodatt Friday, 31 May, 2002, 14:11 GMT 15:11 UK Common opponents Evander Holyfield Although he was given the decision in the second fight, many felt the British fighter was lucky to get the nod. it must be noted that fighters such as Biggs, Tucker and Holyfield were past their prime when they fought the Englishman. REALLY?? Evander Holyfield = Born 19.10.1962 Lennox Lewis = Battered by a washed up OLD MAN Vaughn Bean > Lennox Lewis John Ruiz > Lennox Lewis KEEP TALKING
After Vaughn Bean lasted 12 rounds against Evander Holyfield in their heavyweight championship fight last week Lennox Lewis complained that Holyfield looked like a has-been
(c) LENNOX LEWIS-SEPTEMBER 1998
AND THE SPONGE CAKE CHINNED COWARD THEN WAITED ANOTHER YEAR BEFORE HE HAD THE COURAGE TO FACE HOLYFIELD
LENNOX Lewis was reminded here last night of the harsh truth that he has waded to the top of the world through a pile of washed up drunks and junkies.
It reads like the cast of villains from NYPD Blue.
"Lionel Butler was on drugs, Oliver McCall was in and out of rehabilitation with drug and booze problems and Tommy Morrison went on drinking binges before the fight," said Steward.
Bowe was showing the signs of a shot fighter in the third Holy fight. He was hurt badly by a fairly weak hook. By the Golota fights, his conditioning and massive weight swings had caught up to him, thats why he retired. Watch the HBO Legendary NIghts on Bowe-Golota they break down as clear as day by interviewing doctors and comparing his speech patterns and reaction times
Bowe badly hurt by Lewis at Olympics, in opinion of referee...who stopped the bout.
That with soft gloves + head gear.Maybe premature, just like Lewis/McCall 1. Bowe beaten by Tubbs, in opinion of many, pre Holyfield wars. McCall said to have put Tyson down in sparring, soft gloves+headgear notwithstanding. Lewis up at 6, firm on feet 2 secs after fight stopped, McCall should have had chance to remove all doubt. As it is, plenty of doubt.
Andrew Golota - A bum with no good wins on his resume.
Ray Mercer - A gift Majority Decision, Lennox could have fought him much earlier. But here, Mercer was 35. More shockingly, Ray Mercer hadn't actually beaten anyone since 1993.......The fight took place 3 years later in 1996!
David Tua - In 2000, Tua ballooned up to 250 lbs Looking like Jabba, That's when Lennox finally decided to fight him
Razor Ruddock - a decent win in round 2. But this guy never held a title. Add to that the fact that Ruddock had already been knocked out by a bum with a glass jaw called David Jaco and later an HIV+ Tommy Morrison in 1995
Oliver McCall - Oliver was 29 years old and stopped Lennox easily in the 2nd round.
Tommy Morrison - Tommy was 25 years old, and and HIV+ so this is Lennox's best win?
Sports of the Times; Lewis's Legacy Is Taking a Beating

When the best heavyweights of the past lost, it usually was to worthy opponents.
But the best champions never got knocked out, as Lennox Lewis did, by somebody like Hasim Rahman or Oliver McCall. Or needed an asterisk to get by somebody like Vitali Klitschko.
Tyson definetly won the first round easily. If only Tyson was younger, he could have kept moving his head and not got so frustrated and sloppy. Tyson was too stocky for this fight and needed to use his jab constantly. I believe even the Tyson that fought Julius Francis at 15st13 the year previous could have beaten Lewis. Absolute shame as he could have proved he was the best of his era then retired. "To see a man beaten not by a better opponent but by himself is a tragedy." Cus D'Amato
the first round lewis kept clinching like crazy. tyson was wayy to stocky and didnt have the endurance to handle lewis weight on him for so long and got tired quick. first round was tysons round mainly because lewis clinched every time they got inside while tyson lead the action
@ironball84 i dont know y he should use his jab he has -13 reach i think he should have got a bit more condition kept that head movin and got inside on lewis. not hating on what your saying just giving my take
TYSON'S LAUGHING!; It's a night on the boos for Lennox.
Sunday Mirror (London, England)
Date: May 12, 1996
The result brings a scathing attack from Jay Larkin, senior vice-president of Showtime TV sport. He alleges Lennox has no genuine intention of facing Tyson.
"Lewis is welcome in a ring with Tyson on July 13 and we will pay him 10 million dollars - the biggest purse of his life.
"Lewis and his people have refused.
LENNOX LEWIS = COWARD-WAITED UNTIL 2002 WHEN TYSON WASHED UP
TYSON WAS A GOOD FIGHTER NOT A GREAT ONE. LENNOX LEWIS WAS ORDINARY BUT BETTER THAN TYSON THAT TIME AND NOT TYSON AT HIS PRIME. ALI , FRAZIER, LOUIS AND GEORGE ARE ALL IN A DIFFERENT CLASS. IT IS FOOLISH TO THINK THAT EITHER LENNOX OR TYSON COULD EVER COMPARE WITH THESE GREATS.
LENNOX LEWIS IS AND WAS SHIT, ON HIS DAY TYSON WOULD HAVE REALLY SCARED LEWIS TO DEATH. FROM THE SOUND OF THE BELL LEWIS CAN NOT HANDLE HIM, NOW TAKE TYSON BACK SAY TO HIS PRIME YEARS AND MY GOD, YOU MUST BE INSANE TO THINK LENNOX COULD HANDLE MIKE TYSON. IVE WATCHED BOXING A LOT AND HAND ON MY HEART I WOULD SAY ON HIS DAY TYSON RD2 KNOCK OUT.
Stating the bleeding obvious here but there was never a man Lewis faced who he didn't beat. Here he beats Eddy Cotton and Tyson is one go. Along with Ali greatest heavyweight who walked the planet. Live with it.
You can all knock LEWIS but ask yourself a few question, WHO won this fight? LEWIS . who retired at the peak of his carrier? LEWIS. Who beat every person that was put in front of him?LEWIS .Just because he is not from the u.s.a doesn't mean hes not the best.
lennox is pure shit... tyson was old therefore problem. tyson better than lennox anyday but much inferior to ali, frazier, louid and foreman - the young foreman
@ambika5694 Tyson is 9 months YOUNGER than Lewis. Tyson actually started fast in this fight and Lewis clobbered him with a right uppercut 20 sec into round one. Tyson, boring in, weaving like the old days was shook. His spirit collapsed. Looking at the way Lewis caught him with that uppercut I believe if the fight had happened 12 years earlier Lewis would have won even more convincingly. Ali, Frazier, Louis and the young George Foreman were as good, but not provably better than these two.
TYSON NEVER FOUGHT ANYONE GREAT OTHER THAN AN OLD LARRY HOLMES. HE NEVER FACED REAL COMPETITION. SAME WITH LENNOX.
People can say what they want about Lennox, he was a good boxer. I still think the younger mike tyson trained by cus and rooney would have knocked him out though. He may have jabbed him off at first but he would have caught up with him.
lennox lewis relies more on his size than his boxing ... he grabs him all the time and put his own weight on tyson the whole time - so cheap - even the ref tells him to stop holding tyson ... tyson would have finished him fast in his prime

Q+A: George Foreman
With the June 8 Mike Tyson-Lennox Lewis bout coming up, we grilled HBO boxing announcer George Foreman
By Richard Deitsch
SI: What's your pick for Tyson-Lewis?
Foreman: If Tyson comes in at 222 pounds or under, I give him the edge. I'll take him in a knockout. Three rounds.
SI: In your prime how quickly do you knock out Lewis?
Foreman: Two rounds.

Mike Tyson’s Marijuana Use May Have Been A Factor
Posted by tss in Articles on July 31, 2004 11:00 pm
Tyson frequently broached the subject of his prolific marijuana usage during interviews in the days leading up to his crushing knockout defeat to Danny Williams in Louisville
Another time he was asked about the Lewis fight, Tyson replied: “Man, I don’t know what I was on. Maybe I just smoked too much weed. There’s no doubt I’ve been a monster.”

ROFL. you fucking idiot mike tyson dick suckers. Tyson paid Lewis money in the 90's to NOT FIGHT. This is fact. I can bring out the article links to anyone that don't know this yet. Mike Tyson literally paid lennox 4 million dollars to not fight in the 90's and to let mike fighter holyfield instead. ROFL. That went real well.
exploitivex 3 weeks ago

Mike Tyson's Marijuana Use May Have Been A Factor
| August 1, 2004 | Tim Graham 07:10:52 BST
There was no fear Tyson would need to submit to a drug test for Friday night's bout. Illegal narcotics and steroids conveniently aren't banned substances according to the Kentucky Athletic Commission.

It's like when Mike Tyson fought Lennox Lewis. Tyson had to take some medication to fight Lewis. You're the champion, and you're going to make sure that somebody takes their medication.

Lewis was one of the best heavyweights of all time.
People would rather give up their belts than face Lewis.
1992 - Bowe dumped the WBC title in a trash can and relinquish it.
1996 - Rather than fight Lewis, Tyson relinquised the WBC belt and the title was declared vacant.
Even George Foreman declared "He is, no doubt, the best heavyweight of all time. What he's done clearly puts him on top of the heap."

Irritated Lennox Lewis tackles Tyson question
By CLIFTON DOWELL
(November 6, 2000 9:55 p.m. EST

Iron Mike Is Overmatched As Ring Rust Shows
BY VIC ZIEGEL
Sunday, June 09, 2002
He had fought only 19 rounds in five years against inferior opponents. Lennox Lewis was a different breed of cat.
Lewis doesn't belong with the great heavyweight champions. But he has all the tools, and this was one night when he used them to perfection.
"Everyone is holding on to that image of Mike Tyson from 10 to 12 years ago," Emanuel Steward, Lewis' trainer, said before the fight. "That Mike Tyson is gone."

Tyson beat a bunch of good fighters but you seem to just hate on him at any given chance
tappmoney18 1 month ago
@tappmoney18 Name the good fighters he beat? Light Heavy Spinks old Larry Holmes who else?
Zlogical1 1 month ago
@Zlogical1 Pinklon Thomas at the time was a good fighter, Mitch Green was decent nothing to brag about, Razor Rudduck fought a good fight with Tyson. Bruce Seldon wasnt good wasnt bad, same with Frank Bruno. Not a lot of good competition in that era. especially since he missed sometime in prison
tappmoney18 1 month ago
@tappmoney18 So the greatest heavyweight of ALL TIME beat Pinklin Thomas, Mitch Green & Razor Ruddock. That's it? Wow I guess beating Foreman, Norton & Frazier must have been easy as pie. Oh yeah Bruce "did that punch even land" Seldon. On These opponents & having Holyfield & Lewis slap him around he's the GOAT. ROTFL.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@Zlogical1 who said he was the greatest heavyweight of all time? You bring up Lewis and Holyfield like they fought Tyson when he was in his prime with Rooney. LOL. Din Ali really KO Liston in their rematch?? Doubt it! Bringing up Lewis andHolyfield is like bringing up Leon Spinks, Trevor Berbick, and Larry Holmes when they beat Ali! It has no value
tappmoney18 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 That's my point it doesn't matter because HIS Prime was built on BUMS. You proved it yourself because you couldn't name a real world class fighter he ever beat. So while I think he's great he's OVER RATED. Holyfield & Lewis are both older than Tyson and from his 84 Olympic class so yeah They count for beating him. Holmes, Spinks, & Berbick are all much younger than Ali. See the difference. Tyson failed to beat the best of HIS time Lewis Holyfield or even Bowe.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@Zlogical1 Bowe wasn;t great at all. he was good but not great. Lennox hid from a prime Tyson lol. He decided to stay an amateur for another 4 years after the olympics I believe... Holyfiled never mentioned Tyson until he got with Don King. so my point is when Tyson was With Rooney an Properly trained who beat him?
tappmoney18 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 Holyfield called out Tyson as soon as he won the Cruiserweight championship in 88 he moved up and called out Tyson. Tyson, Lewis, & Holyfield all tried out for the 84 Olympics. Tyson failed to make his team. Holyfield who slapped Tyson around in sparring at the training center did. Lewis lost in the 84 games. But in 84 had also stomped Tyson in sparring. So neither ever had a reason to fear Tyson. Nor could Tyson's decision to turn pro in 84 have an impact on them.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@Zlogical1 no Lewis got dominated by Tyson when the firs sparred together at the age of 15. Lewis Hid from Tyson until he seen the prime opportunity to call him out.
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 week ago
@ItsDatGirlJordz lol Your comment only proves how ignorant you are to boxing. Lennox best skill was being a opportunist. He knew if he turned pro and came to Amercia he would have to face Tyson. tappmoney18 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 How is that they all had Don King? Ali had a long lay off. Ali had Marital Problems. To qoute Antonio Tarver What excuse you got now Mike.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 Foreman had a long layoff & Don King kept winning.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 Cnt'd Tyson turned pro while the games where still going on as he didn't make the team. Tyson had Cus to help him get promoted and line up concussion cases for him to KO on tv and look good. Lewis did not have that kind of push so to make big money as a pro he had to have an Olympic gold medal. To understand the difference Tyson's 1st contract with Cayton paid Cayton 50% of his earnings for LIFE.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 BTW stop blaming Don King. Guess what Larry Holmes, Ali, Holyfield, Foreman ALL had dealings with Don King! Guess what they kept winning. Don King another bullshit excuse. How come Don King didn't cause Holmes,Foreman,Ali, or Holyfield to lose. Just Tyson. Yup it was all Don King.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 Now Tyson with no gold gave up 50% of his earnings for life to Cayton. Lewis figures out real quick a Gold medal was worth 90% of his purses kept by him + millions from cable+ all his expenses living and training paid by cable+ His mom put on salary at 100k. That's all in pounds not dollars. So B4 he threw a punch he was raking in millions. That's called understanding the game. It was money that drove him to get the gold medal. He readily admitted it.
Zlogical1 3 weeks ago
@tappmoney18 You can say that about any boxer. When did they lose when they where with x trainer AND properly trained. See you can always throw out he wasn't properly trained. A fighter's JOB is to be properly trained so it is a bullshit excuse and circular logic. Oh Tyson woulda won but he wasn't properly trained. Or Holyfield woulda or Lewis or Bowe or Steve Zouski woulda won .but he wasn't properly trained. Insert any fighter and the logic holds.

Lennox "The Vulture" Lewis: career breakdown
Here are Lennox Lewis' most difficult opponents:
Hasim Rahman - A fighter who didn't even take up boxing until the age of 20, making his pro debut at 22 in 1994 a guy with no punch resistance, not just been ko'd, but out of the ring in 1999 by Oleg Maskaev. Lennox got ko'd in 5
Hasim Rahman 2 - Lennox won in 4 in a 2001 rematch, so poor was Hasim Rahman that he didn't win another fight until a 2004 U/D "HBO Ballroom Boxing" match with 41yo Al Cole
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward
Re Rahman.

Ali would not havea chance against Vitali Klitschko.

Ali is an all-time great. Holyfield is an all-time great. Holmes is an all-time great.
Who did Lewis beat? He needed a favour of the judges to "beat" an OLD washed-up Holyfield. An even more washed up drugged up Mike Tyson.
Lewis got taken out with ONE SHOT by guys you can only label decent - McCall and Rahman
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward
Ha ha. Lets look at Holmes best victories and how Steward era Lewis would have fared.
Old Norton. Lewis, Ko's Norton in 1, as per Shavers and Cooney. Holmes gets controversial SD.
Cooney. Lewis KO's Cooney, rd 1 as per Golota. Spinks and grandpa George KO'd him easily.
Shavers. Lewis KO's glass chin no defence Shavers in 1 or 2, unless Shavers lands lucky punch, as Lewis watching out, not likely.
Holmes lost two decisions to Spinks. Lewis KO's Spinks inside 2 rds imho.
Superwhodatt 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward
Holyfield best victories, Bowe, Tyson. Lewis stops Bowe, rd 2. Lewis Ko's Tyson, with broken hand, rd 8, despite fighting Tyson and Cotton.
Ali's best victory, Liston, Foreman, Frazier.
George said Lewis best ever, Frazier hurt by Bugner + Bonavena, nearly down to Ali rd 2 fight 2. Lewis has easy KO, just like 4man. Frazier far too small.
Lewis way bigger than Liston, 250 vs 215-220, more effective reach, 84"+6'5" vs 84 + 6'1". = Ko to Lewis, as per Leotis Martin, Ali.

TUNICA, Miss. (AP) _ If this were the Mike Tyson of years ago, Emanuel Steward might be a little more worried.
Steward, who trains Lennox Lewis, thinks Tyson is just a shell of the fighter he once was.
"Everyone is holding onto that image of Mike Tyson from 10 to 12 years ago," Steward said. "That Mike Tyson is gone."

Vitali Klitschko-Never down in 8 years as a pro and 210 amateur fights,in the hardest hitting division in boxing.

Lennox "The Vulture" Lewis: career breakdown
Here are Lennox Lewis' most difficult opponents:
Evander Holyfield - Lennox cleverly waited until Holyfield was 37 years old to finally muster up the courage to fight him. Holyfield had already once retired with a congenital heart defect and looked a shadow of his late 90's-Early 90's prime. After Holyfield winning a controversial decision against Vaughn Bean in 1998, Lennox Lewis realised this was the "perfect moment" to face Evander Holyfield
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward
Holyfield was 36. Lewis was nearly 38 when he stopped Vitali.
Holyfield, due to nearly unequaled physical conditioning, was near
prime at that age. No shoulder problems in fight 2, which was ud to Lewis. Still beat Valuev, imho, millions of years later.

LEWIS WARNED: THIS IS FOR REAL.
CORRECTION.......TOMMY MORRISON WAS ALSO HIV+
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
Bowe was showing the signs of a shot fighter in the third Holy fight. He was hurt badly by a fairly weak hook. By the Golota fights, his conditioning and massive weight swings had caught up to him, thats why he retired. Watch the HBO Legendary NIghts on Bowe-Golota they break down as clear as day by interviewing doctors and comparing his speech patterns and reaction times
JoeCalzagheTheCoward 1 month ago
@JoeCalzagheTheCoward

Lennox "The Vulture" Lewis: career breakdown
Here are Lennox Lewis' most difficult opponents:
Andrew Golota - A bum with no good wins on his resume.
Ray Mercer - A gift Majority Decision, Lennox could have fought him much earlier. But here, Mercer was 35. More shockingly, Ray Mercer hadn't actually beaten anyone since 1993.......The fight took place 3 years later in 1996!
David Tua - In 2000, Tua ballooned up to 250 lbs Looking like Jabba, That's when Lennox finally decided to fight him

Lennox "The Vulture" Lewis: career breakdown
Here are Lennox Lewis' most difficult opponents:
Razor Ruddock - a decent win in round 2. But this guy never held a title. Add to that the fact that Ruddock had already been knocked out by a bum with a glass jaw called David Jaco and later an HIV+ Tommy Morrison in 1995
Oliver McCall - Oliver was 29 years old and stopped Lennox easily in the 2nd round.
Tommy Morrison - Tommy was 25 years old, and and HIV+ so this is Lennox's best win?

"Lewis and his people have refused.

ambika5694 2 months ago
@ambika5694 Tyson is 9 months YOUNGER than Lewis. Tyson actually started fast in this fight and Lewis clobbered him with a right uppercut 20 sec into round one. Tyson, boring in, weaving like the old days was shook. His spirit collapsed. Looking at the way Lewis caught him with that uppercut I believe if the fight had happened 12 years earlier Lewis would have won even more convincingly. Ali, Frazier, Louis and the young George Foreman were as good, but not provably better than these two.
