  • @LORDMCHUGH Its like sying that I am a Catholic but I don't have any Bishop. You are not a Catholic....

  • Galileo agreed to not to teach what he had as a theory as being the truth. His punishment did not come from the Pope, but from bishops. He basically was under house arrest in a beautiful villa. Hardly the torture chamber people like describe.

The father of modern observational astronomy, of modern physics, of Modern Science. Stephen Hawking says, "Galileo, perhaps more than any other single person, was responsible for the birth of modern science.

Oh, atheists, he was also Catholic!

  • @ffx2fan16 Amen

  • It's a fictional story, The Vatican itself wrote a review on this movie, all this video does is blow any conflict that may have arised out of proportion. It's a movie/novel, so calm down.

  • The church has warred against scientific progress and condemned some of the modern invention. They also burned people at the steak for "not seeing things there way". And now, once again the church has been up to abusing children all around the world, 200 deaf kids in Wisconsin, Ireland, and Belgium.

  • the big bang theory was coined up by catholics ( a Catholic priest working with the vatican) :)

Gregor mendel; a catholic priest was the father of genetics...

Athanasius Kircher; a 17th century german jesuit, founder of microbes.

Francesco Lana de Terzi; another jesuit, known for creating the first technical plans for an airship..

Georg Joseph Kamel ; a jesuit and a botanist who gave his name to the camellia flower.

There is more. I cannot write it all. :) Galileo was a lesson learnt.

  • Why won't the authors of Angels and Demons refute these accusations. I will answer that, because they know they are lying. Trying to gain the whole world while in the process they lose their souls. Its all about gaining the whole world and making money. Its sad that today many make money by corruption and lies.

  • The Catholic Church seeks the Truth and to that end the Catholic Church developed the scientific method, rules of evidence and the college system. God's gift of intellect should be used to seek His Truth.

  • The church demonised? If so, she pretty much brought that upon herself. You cannot trample on people like the church has done and expect no consequences.

    What goes around, comes around.

  • angels and demons is a good movie...the bible is a good horror novel

  • While certainly, large parts of the film are fictional this blatant piece of Roman Catholic propaganda shamelessly edits history and reality. The persecution of luminaries such as Galileo, Bruno, and countless others is a matter of amply recorded historical fact, no less than the pedophilic propensities of a sizeable portion of befrocked clerics.

  • Not true they threatened to kill Galileo if he didn't take back his claims that the earth is not the center of the universe. Now that is a fact.

They endorsed science just as long as it would strengthen their cause.

  • Church and religions, the worst thing that ever happen in mankind history. The Dark ages are finally ending.

  • the view of the Church is already negative

  • doctor, doctor, come quick!!!! The religious loonies have woken up!!! Bring a dose of milky propafol!!!!

  • Galileo is the one laughing now!! The origin of all math, science, chemistry, alchemy, science of the soul,KRSNA(God) come from the Vedas(ETERNAL KNOWLEGDE). This is fact. All religons are doomed to fail because they have a start and a end date, states this in REValations.

  • who is ignorant.. church sign with hitler knowing of his plans to kill jews... from the time of the spanish inquisition down to this day , the church has done nothing but bring terror and misery to all... if they were so good ,, they would not support wars, and invest money in war armentment companies .. my friend is a stock broker.. the largest investor in war armement companies is the church wake up

  • When Jesus said to St.Peter that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church He also meant that hell would never stop trying to prevail,(conquer&destroy)

Everyone it seems has had their little pop at the church and hey! it`s still here, and while every detractor goes the way of all flesh the church remains.

You ain`t gonna destroy this church with your lies and hatred but just like the forces of hell many will try to prevail against her.

  • That is right, it takes a spiritual being, called Jesus Christ to destroy the abomination of the whore (Revelation 17)!

  • Good God. You all never give up do you? Have you any real knowledge of the Catholic church? You cannot deny the fact that at one point in time, the church was completely against science. And that's besides the point. Angels and Demons is a work of FICTION! Do you people know what that means? It means it isn't real. It is a story.

Just get over yourselves. You call Dan Brown ignorant? Maybe you should look in the mirror.

  • so which religion do you believe then? or you believe in evolution theorem?

  • out of all the options..yes i put my trust in evolution. i consider myself a

    non-religious humanist

  • I am a Catholic. The difference between myself and others - 12 years of religious education. So when people are accusing things like this of being, more or less, sheer propaganda against the Church, I become frustrated because its all blown out of proportion.

  • I find it funny that the Catholic church credits itself for the scientific revolution.

    1. Kepler, who managed to predict the orbits of the planets, was protestant.

    2. They forget the heresy charges passed by them on Galileo.

Another thing is that they get a Socialist, not a historian to back up their claims.

  • so which religion do you believe then?

  • I don't really see what that has to do with anything but to answer your question. I don't believe in any religion. I am an atheist.

  • the catholic church had a history of crediting itself with all knowledge, they did that by stealing knowledge from other cultures.. through crusades and inquisitions, you counted the Illuminati as real it was fictitious, today we find the same thing going on in the United States.. it proclaims itself the developer of science and knowledge.. in both cases they produce and effect of destruction of life..

  • so.. which religion do you believe then?

do you believe in darwin's evolution theorem?

  • quote from this video "The lies convade in the book and the movie lead readers and cinema goers ignorant of history to have a negative view of the church"IF people did know history they would know the ruleing of the church was called the dark ages they would know the church slowed mankind's advance in science and tought fauls science called biblical science they would know the crimes made by the church all in the name of "god" please respond i will happily debate history or science with anyone!

  • sweeet, finally i found a person that shares my thoughts..yea during the time when the Catholic Church was powerful...they were very good at murdering people who didnt belive in their "wisdom" and it was all made in "the name of god"...and i cant say their doing a much better job now days.."AIDS can be cured by faith and condoms are bad" etc.

  • Pope Benedict XVI has called for a world political authority to manage the global economy and for more government regulation of national economies. This is the beginning of Satan's rule of the World. Soon you will be asked to take the 'Mark' of Satan' on your hand or forehead. Without this you will not be able to buy or sell. Refusal to take this Mark will end in your death.

  • Many people say that it makes it look like the Catholic Church is against science, and that it put it in an evil light, but I found it to be quite the opposite. The real evil person in the movie and the book was the camerlengo (or whatever he's called. I'm not Catholic, so I don't know) who killed the Pope because he was trying to unite science and religion, and he thought it removed faith. The other's didn't want to unite it either, it seemed, but they weren't about to deny science's rights.

  • Hmm... for me, IT JUST A MOVIE and bring nothing.

  • The Catholic Church IS of the Devil...people wake up and leave the Catholic church.

  • As for the science part....

Science has progressed in the last century to the point of astonishment. But science had a rough upcoming. In the long run what did it do? it made transportation, communication, technology better and more sophisticated. But theres negitves too. It could bring nuclear holocaust or slowly kill the earth. But because these are FACTS, it may look a little higher than religion in the book. Since religion is stories without proof that needs someone to defend it.

  • God's plan never included people hating Him. He just knew they would. Jesus wanted Jerusalem to be with Him, even though Jerusalem murdered many prophets sent before Jesus' coming. Jesus even wept for them because He knew the great things that could have been if they only believed, but they didn't want to. It was their choice, not God's.

Ab3, you said you are not religious right? But you sound like a guy who really wants to find God, at least from what I understand from your other comment.

  • im just a guy who read the book. I don't see how someone could think negative about it. I wonder why people put the whole catholic church in the spot light and say it's under attack. But maybe your right. Maybe I am trying to find somehting more with my life. But i don't think it's god. There was some sarcasm in my post.

  • 'I wonder why people put the whole catholic church in the spot light and say it's under attack.'

Being Catholic is not as calm as other people think about, but always calm to force any defiance.

  • If i told myself i was athiest than i would be lying. Because I do believe that we're infinite with the universe. I believe we could find peace within us no matter what the circumstance is. I could understand the theory on souls. But I'm really just putting my thoughts about the book. I could really be harsh about "GOD" like an angry kid, but i respect the power it holds.

  • My first comment meant.

No Jesus was resurected, No God saved the day. As in he didn't PROVE he was among us. Church did good things for us over the centruries but it also caused wars over who's god is better. This is what the book really shows... It doesn't say religions bad throughout the book. It's facts turned into fiction. i don't know if anyone gets me. but thats my opinion

  • The main point though, the book makes the Catholic Church look like it's against science. How is the Catholic Church against science? And please don't use Angels and Demons.

I'm not trying to sound rude. Its just that if for example I had spreading falsehoods or misunderstandings about atheism, atheists would be all upon me getting mad. The same way if a person spreads

something false about the Church, even just for fiction, I would have to defend the Church. And people have believed this.

  • Where does it make church look like it's against science? oh, you mean that one guy that was in the book. But what about the fictional pope in the book? he was with science. So many characters respected religion in that book. I could see how someone's view on religion could be twisted by this. But thats ignorances existance. And if a million people started hating god.. isn't that god's plan? If there is a god and if he's there when i die. He'll understand me and know that i did my best.

  • one phrase:

Charles Darwin and his Theory of Evolution

  • Well I think: IT'S JUST A MOVIE.

i think you shouldnt exaggerate. there are so many movies who are against sth. not just church. and angels and demons doesnt show the church from his bad side. its more like the modern world and the church should come closer together and not be against each other. but its still just a movie!!!

  • this isnt defacing any view. It's pretty much showing the facts. We never seen god come forth and prove his existence, so why should dan brown write something that does?. science is portrayed in this movie as it is in the real world, productive. And this movie shows what religion good sides are by the whole world banding together in prayer and what not, but it shows the down too. So whats wrong with that? why does the catholic church see this movie as a bad thing for them?

  • Because Ab3r. It was meant toattack the Church. I have not seen the movie nor read the book but I have seen the Da Vinci Code which was also meant to attack the Church.

  • i read the book, it shows facts, it shows the good and bad for religion and science. in the book, god doesnt come and save the day and it seems like that at a point in the book. But has god come in real life? No. Has religion brought peace to people? yes. Thats what it shows in the book. I don't know, i respect religion. But if i was religous, i would not of fell like i was"attacked" by this book. But we're different and we stand on a whole different view point.

  • Well God has shown miracles such as Fatima.

God has always worked through men. Look at Abraham, Issac, Moses, Isiah, Elijah, John the Baptist, and in the New Testament, Peter, Matthew, John, Mark, Luke, and the other apostles. Also Joan of Arc, and St. Francis. When it comes to real life catastrophies I feel God is using men to save the day. He uses men even when they are not needed to save the day. Each man has his own talent but it can be misused.

  • LMAO!

Christianity invites human understanding through the sciences? Religion, specifically Catholicism, has always preached that Science is playing Gods work and has NEVER accepted findings as acceptable, but rather heretical.

  • people need to realize that it's just a book and a movie. While yes it could be taken that way, you don't have to believe everything a movie tells you. In fact I don't believe anything that I see in movies. Movies are for entertainment purposes only.. Just because you watch a movie where someone murders someone doesn't mean that you agree with that or that you going to go do it.

  • Yeah iFischer, but if it's meant to attack sometthing making it look like it has a bad reputation then it should be boycotted. Another example is The Golden Compass which was also meant to attack the Catholic Church.

  • Oh yeah yeah, Catholicism was totally the start of the scientific revolution. The way the church associated alchemy with black magic, and forced Galileo to take back his findings on the nature of the universe really prove this guy's point. In fact, the church has been "helping" scientific progress since the dawn of man. I'm sure you all remember what progressive and enlightening times the dark ages were! Gee, thanks video, for putting it in perspective like that!

  • You need to look at history books instead of learning it through chinese whispers!

Islamic conquest was rampaging through the world. The crusades gave them a bloody nose that took them centuries to recover from.

from 1095 AD to 1254 AD all seven crusades had a total 2 million deaths. They only resulted in several small Crusader states were created, notably the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

The inquisistion sentenced to death 10,000s of people over hundreds of years, not millions.

  • Your figures are estimations at best, you think every religious murder was charted and recorded?

  • Actually these figures are taken from accounts on both sides. these are actual historical figures as opposed to the obviously fantasy image you have in your twisted brain :)

You are seriously mistaken about the effect of christianity on the world. The truth is out there.

If it wasnt also for people like Charles "the hammer" in france and the polish peoples response to islamic agression, you would problable be hopping around on one foot and one hand missing too.

  • Explain to me HOW this work of fiction constitutes hatred against catholicism...

As for your second point, I can think of cases of violence BY catholics. But it's irrelevant to the topic, let's steer clear of that, eh?

  • christianity=slavery

  • hahaha!

  • The people inside the Church has made mistakes, but that doesn't mean the Church itself its bad. That's the point in the movie, I think, and to make people understand that religion and science are not enemies.

  • What is a church? An assembly of believers. If the believers making up the assembly are bad, then, the church, by definition is bad. There are plenty of warnings in the New Testament to flee "babylon" and people bringing in "destructive heresies"--you dont just stay around the devil.

  • I'm Catholic and I saw the movie and I see the Catholic Church as bad or as if the movie was against it. The Church in the movie was looking for Good, the only thing that was bad were the Illuminati, and the fact that they infiltered the Church doesn't mean the Church is bad, it just means that evil might inflirt anywhere to take control and destroy Church...

  • sorry, I mean I DID NOT see the Catholic Church as bad or as if the movie was against it ***

  • I loved this film, I knew well enough to suspend believe and take it for what it was, a fictional film. As a scientist I didn't get all upset when they started making up mad science about the CERN project, and frankly it made the catholic church look good. 1 power hungry priest tries to take it over from the inside. All the other cardinals and religious people were displayed as level headed, kind hearted folk. None of them were power hungry and clearly wanted the best for the church.

  • Who doesn't deamonise the Catholic Church?

  • People who are not bigots? People who are not blind to the immesurable good it has done to the world?

  • Crusades + Inquisition = Immeasurable good...

  • Crusades = halt of islamic agression for 300 years = very good!

Inquisition = first attempt at international law = very good!

Cheapshots by cheedillow = not so good.

    :)

  • So, if the catholic church "invites human understand' then why the hell do they preach that their religion is the only religion and that none other should be practiced. Almost every catholic I've ever met could care less about science and couldn't tell you what a Shiite is if their life depended on it.

  • Then you have only met stupid catholics. I have a scientific degree and am a catholic.

As to what the church preaches. Its very simple. The church is making a truth claim. If that claim is disgarded there is no validity to any thing the church teaches.

Truth is objective, we only think things are subjective when we are deluded by false or delimited understanding.

  • You have a scientific degree? What is you're degree, and which university was it at.

  • i never heard of this preist loving a nun then having a child ???????

  • FACT

Did You Know That The Vatican Church became The Vatican Church by People who scam money from people they say something like "Gives us money and we will forgive your sins" thats partially how the vatican church started I am a devowed Christian too i do not Know if this is true i read it somewher please dont get offended =)

  • Is this some kind of joke? The church that spawned the Inquisition and the Dark Ages was for science all along?! Are you freaking kidding me!!??

  • i thought angels and demons was an amazing movie. :)

    its a movie.

    relax yourselves.

  • What's great about Dan Brown's books is that he leaves it for you to decide. Brown never says science good and religion bad. He gives both sides a chance. The real problem is that people never give him a chance. I'm a Christian and find his books to be interesting BOOKS. He says that it is just a book and nothing more.

  • Are you saying he is impartial? What evidence does Brown ever offer for belief in Messiah? He degrades the real Jesus, while at the same time attacking easy church targets. Sure it was a good novel.. but with the implication it contained higher knowledge- long hidden from the simple-minded. The attacks on the Biblical Jesus are simply an old heresy, spit shined, and glamorized by Hollywood.

Nothing more.I've seen only the first film, but Hanks has done other infinitely superior work

  • Yes he degrades Christ but he also degrades science as well. I wasn't too happy with what he said about Christ in the Da Vinci Code but all I did was remind myself it was a book. Remember he supports evidence for God in Angels and Demons though. I take the side of the Pope in the book. That is antimatter can prove there is a God.

  • Viva el Vaticano! Viva el Papa! y VIVA CRISTO REY!

  • i feel the film and book was very pro sciene and pro religion is showed (especially at the end) that science and religion and co exist and that science and religion can help each other, if you take affence to this then you are very shallow its a fictional book based on myth and legends and also on small parts of history, its a fantastic novel which no one is meant to take seriously or actually believe and if they do they are idiots, its a novel to be enjoyed about an ongoing debate

  • "angels and demons demonises the catholic church, presenting her as the enemy of science"

Untrue, it portarays the church more as a friend of science than anything else. And really, to a non-catholic, the church does a pretty good job of demonising itself.

"The lies conveyed in the book, and the movie..."

It is a work of FICTION. Perhaps you should make a video to tell people how Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Shrek are full of "lies".

  • from my understanding, Dan Brown wanted to tell us that religion is an essential element of civilization even it is all "lies", however he didn't want to tell us that religion is a friend of science. It never will because religion has slowed down so many scientists in the past.

  • Actually lilphil, Lord of the Rings is strongly based off the Catholic Church. J.R.R. Tolkein was avery devout Catholic and used this story to promote it.

  • How is that relevant at all?

It's still a work of fiction, no matter it's inspiration.

  • Did you watch the movie before making this video? I say the movie shows the Church as friend of science more than "enemy." A priest collect the antimatter himself. The cardinals look more like pacifiers between science and religion. The only one that is crazy is the carmenlengo because that is his character.

I'm Catholic, but the maker of this video is plain ignorant. If the Church really support "all" science why did they imprisoned Galileo for life?

  • Why did it take so long for the Catholic Crurch to ask for forgiveness from Galieo for all the suffering they made him go through just for saying the truth.

The Medici family patronize art and science but they themselves were not the Catholic Church, so the reberth in Europe was in spite of the Catholic Church.

  • Disgusting.

  • "Anti Christ" is "Lord Maitreya".

He is truly "Lucifer" himself !

"Little Pebble" & "Father Jean-Marie" defeat "Lord Maitreya"!

  • the catholic church is trying to cover up and prevent the truth.

  • Agreed

  • In mexico we have a saying: if the river make noise is because it is carrying stones.

i was raised a catholic and by choice i am not one any more, my education was very strict, and i don't have any problem seeing this books as novels.

  • I'm sorry to hear that adbra. Not to sound nosy but what made you want to leave?

  • Mixing real people in false situations, give me a break. This is a fiction book and movie. Most fictions take some real context otherwise they would not be believable and most likely not interesting. Religion has just as much right to be included in stories as anything else. You people need to find something better to do with your time.

  • crazkh84, he is doing this to attack the Church and some people actually believe what the books say to be true. Are you saying we have no right to be upset? Worse, many people have been mislead. Shouldn't we show them the truth?

  • Who is "He"? Dan brown? Ron Howard? People will believe or not believe what they choose to. You have a right to be upset, but you don't have a right to force your beliefs on other people. Furthermore, you should understand that to most people, this is simply an interesting story about a kidnapping and a bomb threat, not to mention a beautifully shot movie in Rome.

Pretty soon you will be saying "The Negotiator" with Samuel Jackson is an attack on the Chicago Police.

  • khsrm, we chistians don't force our beliefs on others. If anything many others try to force their beliefs on us. Look at the Freedom of Choice Act, trying to force Catholic and christian hospitals to either perform, or support abortion or shut down.

Look at the media, promoting eveything else but attacking anything even slightly christian. It has always been the christians who have suffered because they refuse to conform to the beliefs of others.

    Think about it.

  • You know what i've learned from the book is that it justifies those dedicated scientist's discovery who are then persecuted by Christians. Both Science and Religion are equal...none could even earn superiority but both are capable of mistakes.

  • If christian are persecuting scientists, then how come the Catholic Church founded chemistry?

Dan Brown believes what he wrote in his book the Da Vinci Code is real. Most except Robert Langdon.

  • Are you sure the church founded Chemistry? In fact no claims and agreements about who should be the founder of chemistry. Ask your inaccuracies to yourself before you raise your antithesis to others..

  • I dont think these film makers would have the intention to attack the church. It's a pure work of art, a fiction and its purpose is for entertainment.

  • It is not the novelist who demonizes the catholic church. The Church has gain it's own label and reputation by protecting, hiding, and absolving pederasts priests, war criminals and rapists all around the world. I respect if someone needs to believe in any God, but I also demand the same respect to my judgment, criteria and way of life. None can decide if I am capable or not to raise a child or to have an abortion. I don't leave to any God will my destiny, my responsibilities or my consequences.

  • djuna, you did not answer my question.

If this movie were attacking the Jews, would you feel different about it?

  • Oh, give me a break! I'm a woman. Equality issues? We make women "Doctors of the Church", we honor the woman chosen to be the mother of Christ... What do you in secular society? Degrade women by posting billboards of scantily clad females and use sex to sell products. The ones who have an "equality" issue are those who promote the idea that women are commodities. In the Catholic Church, the beauty of my nature as a woman is honored.

  • sorry, how many female popes have their been? i rest my case. both men and women are used to use sex to sell stuff. diet coke break anyone? yes your child bearing is honered, but is your mind as an equal to men in your church? why can't women priests do the sacrement and conduct mass?

  • Ha... It's not because women are any less in the eyes of the Church like the comment below... a woman is honored as the greatest human (non divine) that ever lived. Mary! Women aren't priest because they aren't called to do that it just isn't there job. Priesthood has nothing to do with inteligence or superiority

  • The Catholic church the model of equality. Please lady, your the loony one here. How many bishops are women? How many priests are women?

I rest my case. The Catholic woman just has to make babies for the priest! That is her role.

  • in history, the church HAS been the enemy of science. why won't the pope endorse condoms in africa?

  • Not true at all. Louis Pasteur, Copernicus, Alexander Fleming... lay Catholics. For a list of cleric-scientists, go to Wikipedia and search for "Roman Catholic scientist-clerics". The Catholic Church developed the scientific method and created the university system in Europe. The achievements of the Church and science are too numerable to list here, so suffice it to say, the smear against the Church as being anti-science is demonstrably false.

  • evolution, origin of species. explain how the church supported that in the 19th century.

  • What are you asking? Your comment isn't clear.

  • the catholic church has never liked the whole fact of evolution.

  • It leaves the faithful to judge whether it is true or not. It only says that we must recognize ultimatly that God was the creator.

  • Why would the Pope endorse condoms? The success rate of abstinence outside of marriage is 100%. Not even condoms are that effective! The Pope is wiser and respects people more than those endorsing the Darwinistic atheist belief that we are nothing more than animals and unable to control our urges. This is why the secular media hates the celibacy of priests and looks for every opportunity to report a story of priest who have fallen... The existence of celibacy is a poke in the eye Darwinists.

  • This is fully understood by evolutionists. They realise humans are not like animals and glad as rather than just the strongest surviving, we work together as a human race, even though capitalism is pretty Darwinistic. Atheists are not like that and just have different beliefs. I see nothing wrong with using contraception. Anyone who says they haven't thought about sex or masturbated clearly has their head in the sand. I love my girlfriend very much, I do not need a ring and wedding to prove that

  • Your statement couldn't be further from the truth. If you want to remain ignorant that is your right. 1Catholic2theCore made a good post and if you care to know the truth I'd read "How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization" and see directly how the Church advanced science and thought in Europe and the world.

  • Does anyone have any intellectual comments not based on religion? If not, then you are fools duped by the masses. I feel sorry for you.

  • To djluna who said: "Does anyone have any intellectual comments not based on religion? If not, then you are fools duped by the masses. I feel sorry for you. " Well what if this movie were attacking the Jews? Would you feel different?

  • Catholic church, the guardian of the unborn? Please gimme a break! What about the descendants of men and woman who were sent to the flames in the inquisition? The church weren't the guardians then?

What type of loony are you!

  • The Inquistion was horrible, but the Catholic Church did help the Jews during WWII.

  • I am Catholic, by choice!

    No cradle Catholic here.

I see this an opportunity to engage other in conversation. To offer them the truth and to show them where this "Fiction" is wrong and miss leading. Give people a little credit! No I don't think its something to be "upset" over. It is a chance to allow the Holy Spirit to work through us to enlighten others.

God bless you & God bless Dan Brown for this opportunity.

  • Its just Fiction!!!!

  • Are you saying b/c it's fiction a Catholic shouldn't be upset? That is illogical. If a person made a movie or wrote a book about you or your family and accused it falsely of wrong doing, you wouldn't have a problem with that?

  • I think he/she is just saying that Dan Brown did not write the book as a way of expressing hatred of the Catholic Church. It's just for entertainment. Not much else. If someone wrote a book that just flames the Catholic Church that you can freak out over. But it's just harmless fiction. No one is resenting the church because of it.

  • Yes, but a Canadian priest named Fr. Bernard O'Connor was hanging around with the set of Angels & Demons over several days, while not in his priestly clothes. He said he overheard "some of the most vicious anti-Catholic statements, made repeatedly. He claims that Ron Howard said...

  • "Within a generation there will be no more Catholic Church, at least not in Western Europe. the media deserves to take much of the credit for its demise. The public is finally getting our message: the Catholic Church must be weakened and eventually it must disappear from the earth. It is humanitys chief enemy.

  • Doesn't Religion and logic contradict itself?

  • No it doesn't. If anything they need each other.

  • oh, and wasnt the whole purpose of alchemy to try and create gold so they can do a get rich quick scheme?

  • lol. Its because of all this "DONT GO SEE IT" im going to go see it. Its a friggin book. Dont get all hurt over it. sheesh.

  • Comment removed

  • uh bad cuz they were facing racism.

  • Comment removed

  • I' say that most non-catholics pity you as opposed to hating you.

You see, the difference is, black people in the 60's were quite literally getting "bashed", and were viewed as second class citizens.

Whereas you have to put up with a novelist writing something about your church that has quite clearly been stated to be FICTION. Oh poor you, yeah, that's EXACTLY the same...

  • The black person in the 60's who kicked off the revolt against segragation )Rosa Parks) was a Roman Catholic btw. Did you know that? Nuns and priest and parishoners from her parish marched with her.

    Thats not fiction.

  • Or relevant.

  • I think it is relevant. The book claims it is non-fiction. The movie takes the same plot line as the book.

You said black people were being bashed, and catholics werent. I revealed to you that Rosa Parks (along with many other black people) were catholics. You're neat little boxing, doesnt fit.

Lies are lies. Every catholic priest is painted either as a pedophile or a warped shifty intellect. That trend of defamation is the hatred. This movie is the next in a long line of slander & abuse.

  • Please reference a page in the book that states "this is NOT intended as a work of fiction" or something similar, or link me to a video of Dan Brown claiming his book is NOT fiction. Otherwise you are making a baseless assertion

The fact that she was a catholic is not relevant to the discrimination she suffered because of her skin colour. Non-catholics blacks suffered just as much.

Yes lies are lies. But to call a work of fiction a lie is redundant. By definition, fiction is not true.

  • Go see if you want but beware of what you will be watching. Be informed.

  • I used to like Tom Hanks and Ron Howard. Making one film like this you can forgive, two looks like a vendetta. They are a couple of douchbags as far as Im concerned. Very saddening.

  • It sounds like what the network news has been presenting. Dan Brown is out to make money, and that's it. So is Ron Howard. Two things that do that is to smut something up or bust on the Catholic Church. I believe the premise in Angels And Demons just as I would End Of Days. The Da Vinci Code would have died out quicker if it was not for the hoo-ha that sold it. I rented it from my library same as I will this one.

  • Too true, the whole uproar is what really made tickets sell out. Few directors get kicks from things like that but this guy is only doing it for money. It makes people upset because he mixes facts with fiction in a douchebag kind of way. People are going to see Tom Hanks no matter what though because the guy can act and is one of the best

  • The Dan Brown books stink anyway.
