  • nope standing on ur head isn't possible

  • sounds shit. flapflap

  • @FKNoresome

You didn't like Manda's lessons from expert village? I did, but I had a hard time keeping my eyes on what here hands were doing.

  • Why isn't she in the kitchen?

  • i hate her guitar^^

    it's ugly =D =D

  • It's a resonator guitar.......cool sound! The sound is produced by one or more spun metal cones (resonators) instead of the wooden sound board (guitar top/face) & has found life with several musical styles (most notably bluegrass and the blues).

  • what did I learn?

  • what the hell kind of guitar is she playing?

  • Calm down at least it wasn't a expert village ramble

  • @FKNoresome Oh good Lord. Don't get started on that. XD

  • take it easy guys, it is obviously a beginner´s guitar lesson

  • the most hedious guitar i've ever seen

  • Nice Lady.

  • How is this a lesson???

  • this was yet another pointless lesson.

  • Comment removed

  • whats on your thumb? whats it called ?

  • 'Who says that you can't do both in the same song?'

    Nobody, lady. Nobody says it.

  • I dont like this woman or her sunflower tin guitar.

  • Thank you.

  • dumb woman that aint no lesson

  • Pickin' n' Strummin' with the lovely n' sweet Susan Mazer! Well presented pro. instructor promo. Was that the 'Sweet Home Chicago' theme? That old Reso. sounds like it should. Memphis Minnie'd be proud! Good to see a gal guitar teacher; (before 1900 most folk guitarists were women right?) Watch, listen and learn! Thnx:)

  • if that was a lesson, i have 4 dicks.

  • well... back to the kitchen for you, seeing as you have no skill with a guitar and managed to make a terrible sound from such a lovely guitar... some one gave you perfection and... well... you pretty much bled all over it with your menstrual juices.... go make me a fucking sandwich....wash your hands first...

  • @bowd19 Low self esteem, cowardice, and self hatred; solution?

troll the Internet with quick fix pathetic comments, because it's easier than facing the ugly, bitter truth in the mirror, every time you take a piss. Susan, as with all musician's on YouTube, who give freely of their time and passion for music, have the capacity to inspire. Where as those like you, will die in middle age with a stomach full of ulcers and regret from your lips.

  • @CelticBanner ooo someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning didn't they? hate to tell you mate but i'm a grade 8 guitarist.... and did i ask for her time? no... no i did not... and i'm not the only one who thinks this is an abomination of a fantastic guitar... read the other comments.... so now who's the sad bitter person who can't stand the sight of them selves in the mirror? not me =]

oh and ps: who the fuck has a mirror on the wall behind a toilet? weirdo....

  • @bowd19 what's with the sexist comments?

and the playing is good bro. . .

maybe you're the one with no skill because u don't know what good music is. . .

  • @shyguy189 women are things...

  • nice chops

  • she seems nice <3

  • Beautiful and talented, what a combination :)

  • I'm an italian guitarman please write me!!!

  • @JUN34U it wasn't lol

  • @JUN34U (and the other 60 whiners:

    "How is this a lesson?"

    .

    .

You put your hands on your guitar.....You watch her fingers...see....AND THEN you practice what she's doing...Over, and over, and over, and over..... That's how the whole world learned country and blues guitar before CDs, DVD s and computers were invented. Try it.

  • @JUN34U this is for intermediate.

  • u play good but i hate your guitarXD

  • "you can stand on your head"?Did she really said this?xD

  • haha yeh she did

  • what's the tuning?

  • Id hit it...

  • What the nme of tha song?

    :D

  • sweet

  • What's that thing she puts on her thumb?

  • thumbpick?

  • It's a flux capacitor.

  • Wow where can you buy one of them? I get a bit of flux if I eat too much but I never played guitar with it.

  • You are just brutally unfunny.

  • It's always good to be unfunny when one is not trying to be

  • the symbol is a violin and da sound is lyk a banjo xD....but is great guitar lesson :)

  • not really. i think it sounds pretty cool. for certain songs

  • thats a cool guitar!

  • Girly dobro---kick butt.

  • I had never touched a guitar until 2 minutes before I saw this lesson and now I am playing like Slash!, great lesson. Thanks!

  • HAhahaahah :D Oh, the irony, my sweet poison!

  • oh yeah, that was helpful. "You can pick AND strum, heres how" *picks and strums guitar for 10 seconds*.... "Hope you learned a lot..."

  • you should all give lessons on how to whine, you'd be a big hit

  • who was whining? no one jackass

  • WHAT?! Is that a guitar? that's a freakin' sieve with strings! HAH!! What a JOKE!!!!!

  • haha I know that is a funny looking guitar

  • That,my friend, is called resonator guitar...

  • What ?

  • What??????

  • that is the only guitar lesson i ve seen on here that does NOT teach you anything

  • absolutely

  • Whats the name for the pic attached to her right thumb?

  • we've got google, u know??

  • ohw if u realy don't find: it's 'n ''thumbpick''

  • i just have to say, her rythm is so totally off :P

i dont complain offten, its probebly the first time on here. but god damn :P

  • it's funny how people are talking about technique. Maybe that would be appropriate for classical, but fingerstyle doesn't really have a proper way.

if she develops tendinitous then you can coach her :)

  • I don't wanna butt in but I don't really like the way she has her hand cocked either, she could simply rest the middle of her forearm on the wide part of the body and relaxingly drap her hand over the strings and play without the bend in the wrist.

  • How refreshing [shoganinja]. The term fingerstyle is what people who only play with picks call real guitarists. Pickstyle - that's a useful term.

  • Thanks. Pickstyle it is!

This chick needs to play standing on her head. Might sound better.

  • Worst instructional video on the net.

Women are usually such bad guitarists because the guitar isn't built in their scale for their hands. (sorry, nothing sexist to see here - move along)

  • This woman's right hand technique is terrible. It undermines any information she can offer on fingerstyle guitar. She needs to read or take a lesson on basic right hand positioning.

  • She looks like she wants carpal tunnel. Besides it's hardly called fingerstyle when she's using a damn pick on her thumb.

Fingerstyle is a stupid word. You play whatever style of music you play - no matter if it's with a pick or not. So it's not Fingerstyle Blues, it's just BLUES.

True fingerstyle is Classical or Flamenco. Period. Everything else is just pickless.

If you want to learn to play guitar with your fingers start looking at people like Carlos Montoya, Paco Pena, John Williams.

  • Your right... My landlord is a Flamenco guitar player... and he says the same thing. This man knows his business. So this gal needs to do some learning herself. E for Effort. But this is a lesson, correct?

  • It's SUPPOSED to be a lesson. But, "lesson" is a relative term.

  • You're talking out of your arse, you self-important, ignorant, elitist wanker. What makes you think classical guitarists get to choose what's called "fingerstyle?" You've contradicted yourself, and made yourself sound totally ignorant.

  • Really,I was thinking the same thing about you, cumgargler. You have no videos, nothing in your profile, and your opinion means nothing to me.I am Johann Sebastian Bach compared to you. My videos will be up just as soon as I finish them. When someone with as much experience as me tells you something you should listen and be thankful instead of insulting.

Fingerstyle is NOT this woman's style, she is a douchebag.I came here to tell people not to learn from her but go ahead u'r going nowhere anyway.

  • Technique's relative when you're talking about something as broad as the guitar. Would you say Doc Watson has bad technique? Or Snooks Eaglin? Or Mississippi John Hurt?

This video might be boring, and more or less pointless, but I hate this self-important idea that you have the absolute authority on what constitutes the one true way to play the guitar.

  • There are many ways to play a guitar and there are many styles. No one man knows them all. I never claimed to. I was simply informing people that this is a shit lesson, and real fingerstyle consists of either clawhammer style or Classical Style or Flamenco Style. Everything else is a subgenre. By using improper terminology it creates confusion unnecessary in this community or artform. You don't have to like me, but it doesn't make my words any less true, you simpleton. Shut up and learn.

  • Oh, that's great. So clawhammer guitar, which has been around for about 5 years, to my mind, and, I might add, is a style that I'm really quite proficient in, even though it defies categorisation, qualifies as "true" fingerstyle (whatever that's supposed to mean) whereas the style of Merle Travis doesn't? Or Chet Atkins? Do you even know these names? They're very important, little one. You've absolutely no idea who you're talking to, or what you're trying to talk about.

  • In reference to your comment about the carpal tunnel. Silly comment. Have you ever played a resonator? Watch the video again, and see if you can figure out why she's picking the strings where she is... Holy shit! You didn't just learn something, did you?

  • funny how no other videos on YT have anyone playing like that. But you go ahead. You know everything anyway. Go ahead and keep learning that "Fingerstyle". Better off sticking that finger up your ass where it belongs.

    Besides who plays dobros anymore?

  • Ha. Jerry Douglas?

  • Wrong. Have you ever played a resophonic guitar? Take another look at the bridge. She knows what she's doing. Check out her other videos.

  • The grasping function of the right is used to play guitar - open and close your hand. It is more difficult to execute this motion if the wrist is cocked in the dogleg position. It's easier if the wrist is relaxed or straight. Give it a try. This is one of the most common right hand problems for guitarists of any style.

  • Sure. But the fact that there is a huge bridge over the top of the strings doesn't really allow for playing without cocking the wrist.

  • The bridge has nothing to do with it. Nothing about a resophonic guitar requires you play it with poor technique and risk permanently damaging your tendons.

  • Well, it's about the only way to dampen the strings. Check out her other videos where she's not playing a resonator.

  • ITS A GIRL!

  • wtf ?

  • I usually don't get into these discussions and most likely won't again, but I couldn't resist. One of the very first lessons that I teach my own private students, is the relvance of the 12 bar blues form. Is the Blues that gave birth to so many ground breaking styles of music. Styles such as: Jazz, Rock, Funk, Soul and R&B. It is for this reason, that I believe the Blues to be relevant in any age.

Miles Davis once said, "If you can't play the Blues, you can't play Jazz." Peace.

  • Dont realy learned anything out of this lesson..besides from the crapy music okey lesson. (I just dont like blues, classical is more my taste:P)

  • D A D F# A D

already mentioned but there it is again,

great guitar playing right there, its not country!

  • That isnt fingerstyle..its blues, and 12 bar blues isnt important in todays age.

  • Walking blues by R. johnson or somebody else...

  • nice :)

  • quiet a nice basic blues sound, played well.

  • Gay? What? I hate it when really really stupid people post stupid comments like that....it's the blues...Robert Johnson style...this stuff had so much an impact on music and you don't even understand what it is. Educate youself!!!!

  • i know that melody, but don't know from what song that is.

  • that style is kinda more used in country music

  • thank you!

  • the gituir is cool

  • IDIOT!!!!! its nice

  • In his defense, it's pretty hard to capture all of the complexity and depth of a resonator guitar, properly recorded or not. I dig that guitar myself.

  • its sounds great, it part of the music style

  • whats the thing on her thumb for???

  • To tech1316...Thats a thumb pick she's wearing...Its a personal choice...Whether you use a thumb pick or not, both styles require practice.

  • ok!!! thanx!!!

  • How come her guitar has a double dot marker on the 15th fret?

  • It might be because it's a Resonator, but I'm not sure. Wouldn't mind one on mine.

  • Sounded real good.

  • Hmm, well. Veeeeeeery good, but please try to eat more =0

  • dude, she's like 6 feet tall. and looks just fine! ;)

  • good, but you should show more of your left hand

  • nice rendition of elmore jame's dust my broom in open tuning of D

  • Great video, is this in standard tuning?

  • yup

  • No, Low string is D, just listen to the bass at the beginning. The rest im not sure.

  • Where can I get this tab?

  • that's nice

  • Very good presentation on a beginners level, that helps...Thanks

  • I think shes tuned to open D.. if you guys wana start to learn cool slide stuff tune your guitar to open D and you can mess around with it, its the most common blues slide key, drop low D A D F# A D

  • perhaps it doesn't sound brilliant-in your opinion-because she is demonstrating to new players. remember before you where an expert? or maybe you where born an expert? hehe i luv this a simple blues lesson and for 1 minute and people are blowing their lids.

  • Granted, it could be better, but I've heard a lot of 'delta blues' by so-called masters that sound about the same. It's a style.

  • blatz need tabs, hahahahhahhahahaha, use ur ears mate

  • where can i find the tabs for that
