  • they sounded just like the cd when you saw them live and I see them 5 times. A band that stuck to the nusic they liked to play.Someone tell APPLE they have the wrong BADLANDS on I Tunes where is Badlands self title and Voo Doo Highway. Rest in Peace Ray!

  • badlands chugs out the blues sweetly and in a straight line. Faithful. When you feel so whipped up and lost in a salad of hard rocking acts don't despair. dust off your badlands records, press play button then listen to jake's rumbling train intro riff. tell me if there is more art and science to the sweet blues still waiting to be understood, moving forward. Stray away from the badlands definition and be prepared to be sucked into a celluloid fantasy twirl. but then again don't forget that yo

  • What's Jake up to these days?

  • I was at that show and have some still pics. Do have the full length video for trade or sale?

  • Love the "solo" departure from the album...and the feel of playing live is the best in the world for this. Jake had the right formula with this band and will never find this formula again without Ray....I could only hope some young dude is studying Ray Gillen's vocal style and will someday emerge before ALL is said and done and we are too old to enjoy that moment!!! Peace in Rest Ray!

  • @longwhip ...Indeed...

  • Damn Ray was good!

    RIP.

  • BADLANDS,i owe them alot, carried me though prison 1988 till 1992.best biker bar blues ever..jake was with ozzy before badland as was ray gillen and singer both with sabbath before badlands. jake formed badlands in 1988..they released 3 albums badlands in 89,voodoo highway in 91 and dust(recorded in 92 and 93)released in 98. rumbling train has the best guitar solo i had ever heard in 1989(the recorded version).hands down the best biker blues ever..acdc led zep stones jimi clapton boston pink floy

  • Rest in peace, Ray - you were a one of a kind!

What an awesome band Badlands was!

  • In my opinion this is vocals 101 in session professor Moss taking the great Ray Gillen and rocking the house

  • Ray Gillen was one of the greats. What an awesome metal voice! I miss Badlands. I saw them at a small club in Indy in 1989 - blew the roof off the joint. One of the lesser-known gems of hard rock history for sure.

  • badlands....one of the greatest bands of all time in case you didn't know.....now you know biyaches

  • Get it Ray! <3 Badlands

    R.i.p

    Ray

  • Ray's vocals and Jake's shreddin compliment each other perfectly. Badlands was such a rhythmically tight band!

  • Jake was and I hope still is, a great guitarist. But this tune is a horrible rip off of ZZ Top's "Been Waitin On The Bus", musically. Ray Gillen had the look for the era, but poor material and his "sounds like every other hair metalist" voice held them back. Back in the day, they made a small dent because of Jake's having been with Ozzy, but they never amounted to anything more than an opening act or small club band. Damn shame too, Jake is still one of the very best of that era.

  • The only other hair metal singer he sounds like is Coverdale.

He is leaps and bounds above most of the other "hair metal" singers...

  • Uhhm well, Jake don't need to rip off Billy Gibbons. Seriously, I like both and Tres Hombres is great, but so is this. Jake plays circles around Billy if you wanna go there. You're not listening, and too hung up on genre classification and sterotypes. "metal" and "hair bands" is stupid shit for magazines and people who are casual observers. Ray Gillan is one of the best, anyone with half an ear would recognize that. Go back to your own era and pretend like you understand that.

  • Your title should be, DON'T KNOW SHIT!!!

  • That made a more than a Dent, & they made because they were good........ Man, more musically retarded people on youtube.

  • you have no clue and obviously no clue about the dedication it takes to be "an opening act or small club band". Ray sang with Sabbath in the largetst arenas there are dunce!

  • ray gillen never sang with sabbath you stupid F!!!...get your shit straight if you're gonna talk shit about someone...it was Jon Gillan who sang for Sabbath on the Born Again album...and by the way Badlands paid their dues way before you could probably walk..

  • Comment removed

  • @freebanger: Ray Gillen DID sing for Sabbath and it's IAN GILLAN not Jon!!!

  • @freebanger You need a serious history lesson bro. Go back and do your homework on this.

  • double dunce!!!!!

  • yeah ih8thishit eats shit because he has not clue about music and what it takes to climb as Badlands did. This guy just thinks about outward trappings of success and not true success which means to spend your life pursuing what you want to in life. Get out of your parents' basement, get a job and then come and make comments when you grow up dude. You are very stupid and show a serious lack of understanding. I figure you for between 15-21. Just the age you think you know things but dont know

  • poor material!!! I love it because so ignorant. Go back to your myspace and be more productive posting vids of yourself in your parents basement!!!ha ha

  • @ih8thishit

Man, you couldn't be more wrong on all counts, except that Ray had the look. He was MILES beyond most any vocalist of that era, and this song is hardly a ZZ Top rip off. Do you know how many songs use those chords or similar riffs? It's just a shuffle blues.

  • I still miss you ray! & will always remeber badlands forever!

  • The blues scale never sounded so great! God I miss this 80's hair bands. Take your Poison.... Jovi..... even the Crue. Give me Badlands, XYZ, and LynchMob.

  • Fantastic song! Eternal Gillen!

"He's singing with the angels in heaven"

  • God, Ray was too good. This is one hell of a performance...from the whole band, but OMG RAY's VOICE!!! lol

  • Thanks for posting.....Rock & Roll Heaven on Bloor Street.......lots of memories in that place back in the day.

  • this is my favorite badlands tune jake and ray just kill on this tune. thanks for posting. rock on jake. r.i.p. ray.

  • Awesome song, waited forever to hear and see this one live, Badlands rocks, thanks for posting

  • i believe that he went to ozzy after badlands

  • no Jake was with Ozzy before Badlands and Ray was with sabbath before Badlands

  • @njtattoo2 And Eric Singer was with KISS after Badlands.

  • One of Badlands best songs. Thank god he left Ozzy and had time with Ray Gillen to make the albums they did.

  • I couldn't agree more. The band (especially Ray) appear to be in fine form during this concert.
