The purpose of playing a defensive chopping game is not to score points. It's to play more consistently than your opponent and try to make him mess up by returning his own spin back to him.
This highlight video only shows the good rallies, meaning the rallies where Kreanga gets his loops over successfully and continuously. The normal rallies which the ones Joo would probably win are where Joo chops and Kreanga's loop eats the net.

A defensive chopping game requires quicker reactions than an aggressive game. Joo beat Ma Long in the 07' Worlds in Zagreb, because Ma Long was younger, with less experience & possibly patience. Now I don't think Joo is better than either of them but he's up there because of their mistakes. That is what defense is all about. (it's also why a chopper'll never be top of the world - it's so much harder than attacking)
Can I just say, the reason Joo has such trouble with Kreanga is because he's one of the hardest & fastest hitting players in Table Tennis today, with possibly the best backhand around.

The purpose of playing a defensive chopping game is not to score points. It's to play more consistently than your opponent and try to make him mess up by returning his own spin back to him.
This highlight video only shows the good rallies, meaning the rallies where Kreanga gets his loops over successfully and continuously. The normal rallies which the ones Joo would probably win are where Joo chops and Kreanga's loop eats the net.

oh come on, armedshot, u cant deny that joo is one of the best defenders in the world, if not the best. kreange is, as haydonlee93 said, imo the most energetic player in the world, he plays not like any other attacker.
joo looses because kreange smashes/loops to hard, but he won 2 sets against him, so he can't be that bad.
hes doing a great job, by bringen defensive style back to the top of the world, where it imo belongs.

kreanga won because hes an all around player and his smashes are the hardest ive ever seen (especially his backhand) and the fact the he loops everything thrown at him so well it has almost no effect

A defensive chopping game requires quicker reactions than an aggressive game. Joo beat Ma Long in the 07' Worlds in Zagreb, because Ma Long was younger, with less experience & possibly patience. Now I don't think Joo is better than either of them but he's up there because of their mistakes. That is what defense is all about. (it's also why a chopper'll never be top of the world - it's so much harder than attacking)

Can I just say, the reason Joo has such trouble with Kreanga is because he's one of the hardest & fastest hitting players in Table Tennis today, with possibly the best backhand around.

i disagree and agree joo beat kreanga in the 2003 semi finals and went to the finals and became second place in the world, but kraenga is one of the most energetic players and smashes/ and loops very hard. listen to his racket see how much speed glue he applies and kreanga has one of the best backhands in the world
