I'm not a big anime fan, so to me Akira stands apart from the rest. Maybe check out "Vampire hunter D." (1985) or "Ghost in a shell" (1995) ...but if you want to see a really fucked up one, check out "Legend of the overfiend" ....the makers of that film are not getting into heaven.

The Manga version of Akira was better than the movie. But then again, I'm one of those freaks who likes to read. Hahahahaha. It was epic, 1200 some pages I think. Takes a lot longer than the Movie to get through, but, it feels a lot less rushed than the movie did.
