Op deze opname ben ik inderdaad wel bovengemiddeld trots. En het was nog m'n eerste YT-gitaarfilmpje ook!

Echt supergoed; complimenten. Ik heb veel Sacksioni gespeeld, maar dit doe ik je niet na - helaas. Ook de de opname klinkt puik. Heb jij toevallig de tablatuur? Ik heb wel de "gewone" bladmuziek, maar dat ben ik een beetje ontwend.... Cheers.

Dank voor je complimenten, Ozuidema! Prettig om te horen dat anderen ook plezier scheppen in mijn gitaarspel (dat doe ik zelf namelijk ook).

De opnamekwaliteit viel mij ook mee, rechtstreeks in een goedkoop Compaq laptopje (399 euri).

Nee, tabulatuur heb ik niet; ik leerde noten van blad spelen met Harry's muziekboeken. Doorzetten dus maar!

Marco Polo behoort tot de weinig gespeelde Harry-stukken. Zo zijn er wel meer. Heb je ook zin om zo'n onbekend Harry-stuk op YouTube te zetten? Why not?

Wat voor microfoon en software heb je gebruikt? Ik heb al eens iets met een camcorder opgenomen, maar de kwaliteit was substandard. Ik zou "Nonna's Nachtmerrie" of "Tranen" wel 's willen opnemen; die heb ik op YouTube nog niet gezien.

'Rechtstreeks in een laptopje', dus zonder tussenkomst van een microfoon. Al is een goede microfoon wel te prefereren natuurlijk.

De webcam-software poept een wmv-file uit. Daarvan heb ik het audio-deel in Adobe Audition binnengehaald, er wat nagalm aan meegegeven en die weer in de wmv teruggeplaatst (met Windows Movie Maker). Niks bijzonders dus.

Zie (ik bedoel: hoor) ook het andere filmpje, met Harry's De Lifter. Da's wel een heel andere (nl. spotgoedkope) gitaar.

There are no fixed of common values for this quite unknown guitar, or guitar brand. Japanese guitars from 1975 on have a good name on the market, since they are usually made of good materials en well constructed.

Anyone with good ears and proper knowledge of guitar construction will appreciate this Rokkomann guitar and pay a good price.

I would not sell mine for under 500 euro, anyway. And that's just because there are Chinese competitors.

Actually, I would not sell mine, period.

Remember to put good strings on your guitar. It's worth it! I use D'Addario phosphor bronze, medium (.012).

I also changed the saddle and nut for those made of bone. That helps to transfer the string vibration to the guitar top. More sustaining lows, more vibrant and 'tingling' highs.

Good luck with your Rokkomann - and maybe you can put a video on-line!

Thank you so much for your nice compliment. It is not really the 'classical' style I play here, but a kind of elaborate fingerstyle that I learned from Harry Sacksioni (the Dutch guitarist who is world famous in The Netherlands). He has developed a style that combines fingerpicking with classical elements, playing bass, accompaniment and melody. He has just released a comprehensive guitar method, that is unfortunately only available in Dutch (as of yet). You can find him on YouTube, if you want!

Hihi, ik gitaar, jij gitaart, wij gitaren... Je kunt wel merken dat je een ex-letterenstudent bent.

Maar grote dank voor het compliment, Ellalt! Dit is natuurlijk wel een highlight uit mijn repertoire, niet alles lukt me zo goed.

Tien jaar geleden hebben Roel en ik wel eens onze gitaren meegebracht naar een koorweekend, om onze kunsten uit te wisselen. Maar sindsdien houden we ons gitaargeweld verborgen voor andere VUKK-ers, omdat we ze er toch alleen maar jaloers mee maken :-)

And how i discovered the 12-stringed guitar was when i whent to a music shop and than i said to one of them who works there "That guitar looks a little wierd with all these strings" and than he showed it to me and the sound and so on :P

I've seen one of these guitar's there where i bought my 2 guitar's. (Normal acoustic and a electric) but right now i don't got the money for one or the skill for that matter :P

By the way... I heard in a music shop you play them like on a normal guitar, you just push 2 string (them beside each other) instead of 1?...

Ah, to be young and to have been playing the guitar for only 1/2 year! Kudos to you! Such a lot of good times and good music ahead!

I bought my first (electric) guitar when I was 16 (not 'to punish my ma', as Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame would sing). A half-baked Korean strat that I completely rebuilt. 1 year later I discovered the music of Harry Sacksioni & another 1/2 year later I bought this guitar (I had a part time job allowing for this). Next I fell in love with the Spanish guitar.

By the way... How do you turn a 12-string?... I got a guitar-turner but i guess you need something speciel for that, you do you?...

You can tune it just like your other guitars. The only difference is that the high E and B strings are doubled (two similar strings) and that the lower G, D, A en E strings have an accompanying thinner string that should be tuned one octave higher. So the whole setup in standard tuning would be:

e-e b-b G-g D-d A-a E-e.

Of course you can also use open tunings. That is quite common on 12-string guitars, such as:

d - b - g - D - G - D' (open G) or

d - a - f - D - A - D (open Dm).

Thanks for your compliment, Jesper! Though I mostly play the classical guitar, I keep on returning to my 12-string all the time. I first heard the instrument played by Harry on his (rare) album "Live in Amsterdam" and was immediately sold to the strong and 'tingling' sound. But handling the instrument is also nicely different, with your right hand suddenly having "12 options" instead of 6. A secret hint is to tune each string pair slightly dissimilar, which yields many overtones overall.

Geweldig, heerlijk om weer eens een nummer te horen van deze LP. Voor mij het beste album wat Harry ooit heeft gemaakt, alsof hij bij je in de huiskamer speelt.

Dank voor je enthousiasme, Dulles! Inderdaad een prachtplaat, die gek genoeg niet zo bekend lijkt als veel eerdere of latere lp's. Hij is maar één keer op CD verschenen, ruim 20 jaar geleden. De productie van 'Strikt persoonlijk' staat ook mij erg aan, je zit er inderdaad bovenop. Jammer dat Harry zijn interesse voor de 12-snarige gitaar min of meer verloren is. Hij deed er op al zijn eerste lp's toch bijzondere dingen mee, van "Tranen" via "De optimist" en "Svoboda dans" tot "Suikerspin".
