Here is a fun fact. The bridge of NCC-1701 in this episode and every episode of Star Trek after this episode was built by a diehard fan who is now making fan episodes, James Cawley (Star Trek: New Voyages).
TNG did a great job on the original bridge.. However scotty's comment about kirk would make rick berman scratch his head around the time that "Generations" was being put together.
@generalBlasto Part of the effect is actually Green Screen using a short clip from TOS, so it actually is the original bridge. The genius is that the green screen and the seats used by the actors fit seamlessly.
Scotty mentioning Kirk would later be handwaved as Scotty being disoriented after being in a transporter buffer for 80 years.
