type in the Terminal "cd" and then the directory that the .bin is in,
then type "chmod +x ./" and the the name of the binary.bin (No space b/t the ./ and the binary)

For 9.10:
type in the Terminal "cd" and then the directory that the .bin is in,
then type "chmod +x ./" and the the name of the binary.bin (No space b/t the ./ and the binary)
finally type is the above minus the "chmod +x" and the installer should open. Obviously, take out all of the " " 's when typing in the commands. For example:
cd /home/username/Desktop
chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin
./GoogleEarthLinux.bin
Hope that was easy to understand ^^;;

Please note that this will only work with an Ubuntu 9.04/9.10 OS...
JonathanWardUK 2 years ago
@JonathanWardUK No it doesn't, just Right click the .bin, to go properties, permissions, and allow to run as Executable. Then follow these steps. :D
RAMSHALL7 5 months ago
@RAMSHALL7 That is the case now, but when I made this video you did not need to mark as executable. Not sure why Ubuntu did this, but anyways...
JonathanWardUK 2 months ago
@JonathanWardUK Oh, I'm not sure why they thought making Unity was a good Idea either. I hate it.
