Is double tracking or quad tracking where you go back and record the same guitar line again and pan accordingly or is it where you just make a copy(s) of the single guitar track and pan accordingly?
@evillemonkey Yeah when we talk about double and quad tracking guitars we're referring to recording the same guitar part over again and panning them hard left and right.
@evillemonkey Double/triple/quad tracking sounds big because of the slight differences in each take. Copying a track, pasting and panning it achieves nothing more than if you had the one track and turned it up.

Great episode guys! Very informative and nice mixing with the videos! What program are u using for mixing your videos? I use power director, but I still feel like there could be something better out there for me.
I run it through a ART Tube Preamp into an Audio Interface and i use a compressor plug in on garage band. i mic it 4 1/2 inches way from the 12th fret. How do you get a smoother sound?? the sound im getting right now sounds really harsh and isnt easy listening to.
I have a Behringer C3 mic. When I place it near the 12th fret and 4 inches away from the fretboard, I get a very low signal. When I boost the level in the post production, I get the Hiss. Any tips on getting a good signal?
Thanks for the tips you guys Merry Christmas!!!

@evillemonkey i'd like to add that you should never copy the signal... all you're going to get is level gain.... nothing special

@thesoundcanal
adjust the gain on your recording device, adjusting the gain in the software always adds hiss, start wit a loud enough signal dont try to create one

@AcousticTransmission
Thanks for the response. What I use is the M-Audio audio interface and I have my gain cranked up to 3 o' clock. Anymore than that, I get the Hiss.
thesoundcanal 1 year ago
@thesoundcanal yeah the hissing sucks, so even at 3 oclock still not loud enough.
