@MrTJ1695 Yes I do have a video of us chopping the roof. It is called. Bronco II Goes Topless.. I was planning on doing a roll cage but had to sell it before I got the chance...
@nikkiexninja I think the 2.8 is one of the most reliable motors of all time, i take my BII out bogging all the time and my origonal 84 2.8 ran up until it had 479k on it and i cracked the block, and even after that i managed to drive it home
@nikkiexninja the bronco II had a 2.8, not the best motor. and I would personally go with a 4.0 or extremem mod it to a 302 V8 with a c6. toy purpose of course, but the problems arent with the 2.8 really since my 87 bronco 2 motor was fricken crazy! had almost if not 200000 miles on it with a slight rebuild, just freshened up by an old man in nc.
@nikkiexninja said the cylenders w/o bore had within 5% of stock brand new compression. pretty damn good if u ask me, either way, the trouble is in the transmissions, if you want a good bronco 2 get one with a 5spd, or get a better auto tranny than the ones that came in them.
Hey man, I have an 88 B2. It starts almost instantly every time no matter what the temperature is outside. Diesel battery with fix that cold start stutter.
@ayden14 I like the 2.9 and it is ok for 4x4 stuff. If I were going to make this bronco a full time trail rig I would put a 4.0 in it because that engine has more power.
@RoadWarrior72 - You could might actually be able to fit a 302 if you were going "all out" on a true trail rig, and a C4 with an NP205 would fit. You could do a Dana 44 TTB/Dana 50HD hybrid up front, and narrowed D60 in the rear. B2 has a lot of potential.
That's fantasy though... in reality you need to look at the valvetrain. That little click is the poor little 2.9 bleeding power all over the trail, and a top-end rebuild will restore a LOT of power. It might save you a motor.
@ayden14 I recently bought an 88 B2 2.9 4x4. The 4 low has more then enough get up for most of the offroading I do, which by all means can't be considered "serious" just stuff I do with my friends after schools out. Johns Peak in Southern Oregon is where we mostly go. It does damn well. Lots of low end and plenty of power. Long live the Bronco.
I have an '84 bronco II that unfortunatly got banged up while I was on vacation. So I'm gona be buying an '89 to replace the door and some body panels. Then what's left of the '89 will be turned into an off roader.
hey man thats awesome just the fact that you got it for 300 is sweet. i just got an 89 bronco 2 for my first truck and i have big dreams for it as well.
Thank you so much these videos are really guiding me through my bronco project!

Are bronco ii 's real tipsy lifted?
razan8v92 2 years ago
They are real tipsy to begin with and when they are lifted they are even worse. It's because they are naturally top heavy..
RoadWarrior72 2 years ago
All SUVs are top heavy, bout the same as an old Explorer
Goodspittin 2 years ago
Yes very true. I have seen the older explorers with chopped roofs as well.
