You pay out the tractatus as continental philosophical nonsense...?! WHAT?! That is THE defining text for twentieth century analytic philosophy proper. (I'll grant you later Wittgenstein is post-analytic - like Rorty and McDowell - but the tractatus is analyticity to a tea.) I'm curious, are you going to diss Russell next...?
@rumpranger65 Oh yes, he has indeed! Like Carnap, Husserl, Frege and the rest of these strange guys. Check especially Wittgenstein II for further proof, boy: Continental at it´s best!
@thefirstroom Oh wait, are you one of those postmodern continental philosophers, trying to examine the human condition by challenging my oppressive notion of "historical truth"?
@rumpranger65 Let´s be honest for the moment: the idea is that we shouldn´t try to seperate "analytic" from "continental" philosophy in a general way (like they had nothing to do with each other), that analytic philosophy is deeply routed within the continental tradition and owes a lot to it. The video is just trying to undo the categorisation by exaggerating the standard forms of polemics between them both.
