  • You have to use Garritan samples with Ambience reverb in a sequencer; the sounds are actually pretty good!

  • @lostinspace771 thanks for the comment, it's all about how you work em.

  • You left out the most important part of the percussions...The snare Drums.

  • Does this sofware work on finale printmusic 2011?

  • @vanbob17 if it can use vst plugins it should

  • Doesn't sound that bad, of course Vienna Symphonic Orchestra and EastWest Gold/Platinum sound better but they're a lot more expensive and are gigabytes larger!

This one costs $140 and occupies 3.5GB of disc space, they aren't comparable!

I just wanted to have a mini orchestra to get started with classical music and midi orchestration without having to steal a bank and install half terabyte of orchestral samples!! XD

  • @PrimiusLovin yes indeed that's exactly where this comes in at I think

  • @PrimiusLovin um um um

  • Yo, You Should Have Shown The Organ-Instruments ... They Are Probably The Only Thing In It Worthy Getting Bought ... (You Got A Lot Of 'Vibrato' In Your Voice :) THX Dude ...

  • @xxllx86 must have missed the organ instruments

  • I clicked on this video having heard good things about garritan. Utterly dissapointed. Anyone considering getting this, DON'T! For the love of god get miroslav philharmonik.

  • @geoboy333 this is why I do the videos, so you can see what's really there instead of buying and being disappointed :)

It's cool for some, others prefer different libraries, I just try to cover things that I feel can be useful to some folks.

Thanks for the comment, really appreciate it.

  • Sounds like Midi

  • You have got to be kidding me Garritan...

Still sounds like farts those brasses... Very toysh

  • @girotube thanks for the comment

  • @SoundsAndGear LOL sorry boss! Hope I did not offend you.. I was aiming at the company.

Once you use stuff like Vienna and EWQL, its hard not to laugh to these libraries. Very arrogant of me.. Sorry

Garritan has acquired Giga Studio Sampler technology. We expect better than this toy. The GUI is nice tho'.

  • @girotube nope, I feel you man. I try to cover stuff at all levels. For the pricepoint it's cool for some folk. Though you can get EWSL Silver for a lil bit more, less when it's on sale (often). And we all know VSL is top notch, there's also stuff from Kirk Hunter which I think is really good as well. Thanks for the input fam, no offense, I didn't make the library ;)

  • As always GPO is Pants! wake up people... there's options.. less expensive options. Garritan Personal Orchestra has and continues to be the worst ORCH collection under the sun...

Stradavari and Grofieler Cello were great.. but Garritan dropped them (thanks guys) in favor of this artificial crap.. shame on you GPO!

  • @OddPoPMusic yep, you're right, there are options, some like GPO some don't, it's only one of the many options out there, like anything else, it's down to personal taste. I've since moved on from GPO myself, but still know many that enjoy it.

  • @OddPoPMusic can you tell me a less expensive option - i'm looking for better saxes, trumpets and solo violins

  • @OddPoPMusic Hey, I was looking for software like this but... Whats the best software like this which can produce realistic sounds, cos im starting to get annoying at my synthsizers of these :P PLEASE HELP ME!

  • It's nice that all the features and editing are provided and that it's easy and quick loading, but it sounds as if they're holding out on the time used for th eindividual samples. This is always especially noticeable in the string sounds, as you can hear them cycling.

The Emulator IV XT Ultra Sounds more realistic to me.

  • Does anyone know if this software can be used as a virtual instrument within Pro Tools 8, running on Windows 7?

  • @bazouteast comes in RTAS format so should be fine with protools. I use it on win 7 but use the vst version so no issues with win 7 either.

  • With the cello, should've at least played the lower notes, what they are good at and sound best at. Still looks good this one...

  • @Goldendroid yeah, you probably right, again, just trying to go through the sounds quickly

  • Are these samples really that quirky? Or is it the fault of the quality of the video?

  • @PrimaveraPictures not the best video audio quality, they have mp3s on their site.

  • I'd have to keep using Edirol Orchestra, though as you said, it's much cheaper than what I use, and the sounds aren't bad.

  • Hmm, very interesting. Pretty good wind samples. Especially that it is for notation software. Also that they included samples from several different companies.

  • nice, it actually has the range of that instrument highlighted on the keys. im hopeless with all that stuff.

but do you actually need a notation software for it or is that built in?

  • @lachlunn that's always cool, I like that too :)

  • @lachlunn you need notiation software, i guess the notation instruments work better with the notation software? I don't use one so I'm not sure how it works.

  • @SoundsAndGear can you reccomend a notation software??

  • @lachlunn I never used one before, but I hear sibelius is a good one

  • @lachlunn Finale from MakeMusic! is a good one.

  • @SoundsAndGear Notation instruments in GPO are designed to work with the playback features on notation programs. (Finale, for example uses something called Human Playback - the GPO Notation samples are designed to work with the way Human Playback uses with the various Continuous Controller (CC) data to reproducing the music in as realistic a way possible.

  • @musichistorynut cool man, thanks!

  • Great vid, I was wondering where can I buy this program at?

  • @13ig13oss thanks for watching, you can get it at timespace or garritan

  • you mind on sharing how its possible to get review copies of sound collections like yourself. im willing to make a blog/videos of reviews if i can get the software for free

  • @cheta1985 I don't get everything free, I started off reviewing stuff I was buying and my site/vids grew from there. This is something I genuinely enjoy doing, some companies just happened to take notice.

  • @cheta1985 cool man thanks for the info

  • this is really random but i know your talented and you have all these programs and kits...are you ever gonna release like a beat tape or something? it would probably sound amazing

  • @blairblair321 lol, nah I have no plans of doing any beat tapes, I have different folks and projects I'm working on, as they come out I'll share those :)

  • It sounds like a Mellotron :(

  • @weaponEX lol I dunno about that one lol

  • man..you have such an awesome job dude..getting free vsts by the gallon lol...tell me you dont have to return these after you review them lol. sheesh.

but i gotta ask how big your harddrive has to be to accommodate all these instruments..

  • @jayboogie222 everything I review I don't get free, some products I buy and some companies will send for me to checkout. I wish this was my job though! I built a custom PC so I have some large storage space. I don't even post videos on everything I checkout, some stuff I don't like so I don't take the time to make a video for it lol.

  • sounds pretty good. kinda sounds like Edirol Orchestra to me

  • @teeblack06 word, thanks for watching

  • I love Garritan products. Good review.

  • @ELECTRICCHAIRRHYMIN have you heard their jazz big band? I see it's a similar price and was thinking about checking it. I also see they are about to release a world instrument library for the same price lol. I dig the interface, sound, and how fast they load so thinking of exploring some of their other products.

  • @SoundsAndGear the jazz big band I heard was the first one released many years ago. I was good for its time. Havent heard anything new.

  • @ELECTRICCHAIRRHYMIN cool, I think they have a part 2, but maybe that's the marching band one?

  • EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Complete is realy much better! The price is very similar but the quality is much better than the GPO4!

  • @danieldonofriomusic I have both, hence my comparison to larger libraries :) while silver is good for sure, it wasn't as "amazing" as I was expecting and a lot of the instruments have a "native reverb" sound about them before you even add fx, which can effect how it "sits in the mix. Pricing is similar, but that's for the lower end (silver) version not the complete version. (gold, diamond, etc)
