  • How could geordi have been affected when he cant see? I mean how could he have played the game

  • heh, in the context of this episode, it's kind of bad ass what he did, but looking at this sequence like this is just pure comedy.

  • Move over MacGyver! Data's coming through. No longer are bubble gum pieces and shoelaces needed to save the day. We now have Data who can do it with only a flashlight! LOL!!!

  • out of context, this scene is pretty hilarious.

  • i seen this before, but i can't remember the name of the episode...does anyone know????

  • @YashaWhiteTiger

    Season 5, Episode 6 - The Game

  • lol if Data did 'flash' them all. He'll probably still look pale.

  • which episode is this?

  • @mashedpotatohead00

    Simply enough, "The Game."

  • bust out the vinyls, it's time to rave lolololol!

  • Data could so rule the federation

  • unce unce unce unce

  • I thought gordi's vizor would filter out the light in this episode???

  • DISCO TIME!

  • Men in White

  • data is a fucking badass

  • The dramatic music while Data flicks a flashlight on and off is what makes it for me.

    Dun...DUNDUN...DUNDUN...DUN. *flash flash flash*

  • HEY EVERYONE! Do you know what the name of this episode is...?

    "The Game."

    Hehehe.

  • @Yonkage you ass T_T

  • "There are four lights!"

  • Data vs the Epileptics!!

  • The episode wasn't too bad, what bothered me was how the game hypnotized everyone without distinction. Every specie on the ship falling for it, even the strong mind like Picard not realizing and fighting it, and two kids alone realizing what was going on.

    Good idea, badly applied.

  • @AmoureuxdeKOSMOS

The sexual pleasure aspect of the game was a little creepy, too. When they made a "score" in the game (no pun intended) they got what looked like a mild orgasm. When describing the game, they said it triggered the pleasure centers of your brain.

  • @Draknfyre When the episode first aired, changing the channel triggered the pleasure center of my brain.

  • @AmoureuxdeKOSMOS Kind of. The kids were just late to the party, after everyone else was beginning to get hypnotized. Data saved the day in the end, as Robin and finally Wesley did in fact succumb to the Game.

  • @TimThomason

"Succumb" in this context means being held down and forced to play it.

  • @Draknfyre Yes, obviously. But I assume that the way the game was "forced" on Wesley (that sounds terrible) probably happened to Picard and Worf and perhaps hundreds of crewmates off-camera at different points. I seriously doubt Wesley & Robin were the only ones suspicious of this game. In the end, they were unable to stop it (except for setting things in motion for Data to save the crew).

Any other crew would've been toast, and we would've had another "Conspiracy" story later on.

  • @TimThomason

I doubt Picard was forced. All Riker had to do was walk in, say something about an interesting game he found, leave one for Picard, and later Picard would try it, and get hooked. Worf is a different matter. He isn't one for "games" like that, and could have been forced.

Remember, the writers often wrote Wesley as the "miracle kid" (a fact that also annoyed Will Wheaton) so they probably intended him to be the only one who realized what it was doing. (continued in next comment.)

  • @TimThomason

(continued from previous comment) and Robin was meant to be a reoccuring character. a love interest for Wesley, so two "genius" kids would have fit into that writing. She was out after that episode (I think for scheduling conflicts) so the overall writing made it seem like it was as it was presented, two kids saving the Enterprise.

  • The expression on Picard's face at around 0:29 captures my reaction to this episode perfectly.

  • Commander Data, did you just flash me?

    Yes

Oh very well, get on with it then- in my ready room.

  • Quit flashy-thinging me. Really. Knock it off. I'm not kidding.

  • I thought the episode was good up untill the flash light. The flash light part just made me angry.

  • So if I need to get my friend to stop being addicted to drugs, all I have to do is flash a light in their face?

  • I have always thought that this episode of NG was the worst. When I saw it the first time I thought that it HAD to be a two-parter.

    Lame. Lame. Lame.

  • How would normal flashes of light work on Geordi? He's blind.

  • @Snowwie88 Maybe his visor picks up light... or maybe it's just the writers not thinking all of the way.....

  • @Snowwie88

Geordie's Visor picks up many types of light, including normal light. He's not blind with the Visor, his vision is just different. One episode showed what he saw as.

  • Well. It works for the Imperial Guard After all.

  • Now if that ship was manned by people who all had epilepsy, that might have worked.

  • behold my ultimate weapon...a STROBELIGHT

  • "Computer, execute rave protocol Data 1."

  • god i want that weapon to slay the humans... ohh humans didn't see you over there . woops

  • The Men in Black could have done it with one flash.

  • Too bad the ship wasn't attacked that week. The damaged and accompanying flashing the consoles make would have did the trick as well.

  • everyone who knows the name of this episode just lost it...

  • @tuseroni The Game, if I remember correctly

  • @jasonlo5 I just lost.

  • a device that cause seizures in photosensitive epileptic people?

  • Can visible light effect Geordies visor then same way as the rest??

  • @asuch874 yes.

  • @asuch874 How the hell did he even play that game?

  • @asuch874

I was surprised he could play it at all. It's probably in HD for him.

  • If only Data had used his flashy light on the Borg, millions would be alive today.

  • I love how the light has sound effects.

  • @qhapaqinka

Strobe lights in real life make sound. When the bulb discharges, it makes a noise. What you hear here is essentially a normal strobe light amplified, and slightly tweaked. They may have even used a strobe light for the sound effect.

  • i now give you... A SEIZURE dun dun duuuhhhnnn

  • Behold the ultimate weapon: Epilepsy!

  • Even androids can appreciate a sweet rave.

  • Okay did Wesley come up with this plan or did Data?

  • Picard after being flashed: "There are four lights!"

  • @SwordsmanMercenary I LOL'd.

  • (Data steps out of the elevator)

    IMA FIRIN’ MY LAZOR!!!

    BWLAAAAAAAAARRRGGGHHH!

  • pls what episode is this?

  • @1bulma1 The Game

  • @LTSmash1983 I lost

  • Oh but what a hang over.

  • Reminds of TOS.

Oh, you poor sub-par Vulcan, save us from our glorious humanity...

    Pretty much the same thing.

  • there should be an epilepsy warning.

lol i vaguely remember this episode.

  • Data saved the day (and the Enterprise and the whole Federation, for that matter) so many times it's just crazy. How do the other starships manage? ;^D

  • @FuzzyOrangeHat And yet the daystrom intistute wanted to disassemble him .....fools.

  • Data rox your sox.

  • Which Episode?

  • lalaloola1 wrote: "Which Episode?"

    "The Game" s5e06

  • this is with the game

  • Does this come with an epilepsy warning?

  • lmao

  • i always thought that such hilarious things just exist at tos O.o

  • FEAR THE POWER OF THE STROBE LIGHT! I was expecting trippy techno music to start playing. Everyone just has that "Ow, thanks a lot asshole." look on their faces. XD

  • lol wth?

  • Great episode, but the ending was a cop-out. I would've liked to see Data beat the shit out of everyone, then single-handedly take control of the ship like he did in "Brothers". Then he could take it to the nearest starbase and they could de-program the crew.

  • @EmperorJim

Data versus the rest of the ship

Depending on the situation, Data might win

  • mabe i shuold try this in wow nerd

  • From which episode is this?

  • The Game

  • If you can fix phsychotropic drug effects with flashing lights, how come there aren't a lot of dissapointedly sober people standing around in a night-club after the strobes go off?

  • @SuperOfficerDibble

    its startrek....

  • He tested it on Spot first.

  • out of context this is the funniest scene ever.

    Everyone is slightly annoyed.

  • Their flash lights in the future really suck. I mean look how you have to hold them. At least today we have handles.

  • less QQ more PEW PEW

  • Data flashed everyone on the bridge.

  • @justinaurelius @benfirst, Please make that the title of the video! :3

  • @justinaurelius Good one! :D

  • I love how he manages to be all badass when he's armed with ... a flashlight. LOL. And Riker and Worf are both like "WTF?" and Wesley is all "Buh? Wha? Yikes!"

  • AHAH! dta's secret plan to give the crew EPILEPSY!

  • I HATE WESLEY CRUSHER

  • If you hate his character on the show, you ought to see how annoying Wil Wheaton is in real life now. (See weakest link ST version)

  • The Game

  • DAMN YOU!!!!!

  • lol i dont want to meet him in a dark alley

  • See Wesley's eyes as he realises he was brainwashed, but now he's ok.

Looks like he was given twice the dosage. Maybe that's why he was able to stop time in some later episode?

  • Brain washing and bad acid drips can only be stopped with 20$ strobe lights. I guess they didn't have Spock's sonic "Itching Powder"

  • "Computer: play trance mix 1 and run lazer light show"

  • Computer, commence microwaving of metal.

  • what could have been...

  • @ALoveEternal I LOL'd so hard :P

  • @ALoveEternal The system...is down. The system...is down.

  • @ALoveEternal Hahaha

  • Hopeffully no one on the crew is highly susceptible to seizures...

  • This is nothing compared to his LAZAR!

  • One fist of iron, the other of steel, if the strobe light don't get ya then the disco ball will!

  • PEW PEW LIGHTS

  • I'm guessing this will make more sense when I see it in context?

  • There was some sort of trance-inducing device like the one Wesley was wearing. I guess the strobe light snaps them out of it.

  • You are correct, Sir!

  • I've always wanted to see this clip properly. I've only ever seen the slowed down, epileptic-friendly version that's broadcast. It's like that on the DVD I take it?

  • AHAHAHAHA

they all had the look on their face like "wft? that was kinda bright. whyd you do that"

  • The turbolift ride was merely a facade so he could charge up his ultimate attack. Data...you cadillac of androids.

  • I remembering this one! That was a great season!

  • Oh noes! Not....t3h.....$tr0b3!!!11!!11oneone

  • ha ha ha .........A strobe light from radio shack!

  • why are you looking up star trek videos if you think they're gay?

  • That's the problem with looking at comments on the video's page. You don't necessarily see if a comment is a reply to another.

  • stfu zach

  • Also did you see the captains face at the end. hes thinking "Now why did you have to go and do that for? I just finished a lego enterprise.

  • A STROBE LIGHT! Data's greatest weapon is a stupid STROBE LIGHT!

  • well, thats what you get when you make your robots all pacifists. now if he'd have had lasers and tentacles like sentinels, he'd have made them all his bitches.

  • Did you see Riker? He's like "Thanks, now my eyes hurt".

    LMAO!

  • Behold, the almighty epilepsy gun :D

  • where did you get it from??

  • This was 'The Game' one of my faves from s5. Was pretty perverse when you saw the captain stick his on and play for the big O!

  • ahhhh i just lost

  • I remember that episode. The entire crew plays an addict making game by K'Tarians. The K'Tarians wanted to use it to force the crew for sabotage. But Data was able to get the entire crew rid of the game using his "ultimate weapon".

In this episode we can also see Wesley's security talents.

  • WTF lmao
