  • how much is that thing

  • Nice improvisation and a very beautiful instrument!

  • Can i use a regular acoustic guitar and play it as a lap guitar.

  • Yes, it is a good way to start. Search on eBay for a 'nut raiser' a cheap metal piece made to get a lapsteel style action with a standard guitar. A good steel can also help.

  • I own 2 of Daniel's hollownecks; a fixed bridge blackwood and floating bridge cedar top. both 6 strings. Ienjoy having the different tonal response to keep inspired.

This untitled improvisation is very pleasing! I hope you record more as you create.

do you have to use a longer slide-bar to accommodate all 8 strings?

Check my music page: jim brobeck, myspace, music.

Plenty of slide. The acoustic pieces are on the Brauchli blackwood fixedbridge.

Thanks again for sharing your excellent music.

  • Thanks, I am glad you like it. I was trying to take a full advantage of the 7 strings with a new tuning (Bm7-10) , but I grew lazy and I now play it in B12 (BF*BD*F*BF*) and it feels more "confortable". It is not a true 8 string, since the low B is doubled with a b 2octaves above. A standard bar does the job. I have not found your mp3s, please send me a PM with a link.

  • WOW--what a neat sound.the 8 strings alliowing the range of high and low and lovely tone-----!!! very nice improv!:-) LaurieLee

  • Thanks Laurie, I feel like re-learning the instrument as my hands aren't too confortable on it yet ! The low B is addictive !
