Ben was one of the most talented people on earth, but I think I'm watching too many tribute videos of him over the last few days, I dreamt about him last night, about him being my Biology teacher at school, which is weird as I'm a 41 yr old with 2 kids. God bless him though, deeply missed!!
@CAZJANE - That isn't even for starters. I woke up dreaming that I had to go back to work, ended up at the Federal Reserve in Washington, absolutely DREADING what I was anticipating - but to my plesant shock, found out the entire staff were the present-day members of the Daily Racing Form.
That wasn't what was weird.
What was unbelieveable is that they all had fantastic senses of humor!
The people who dislike this video are pro-war big-spending idiots who support Obama's borrowing money from China and spending billions in U.S. tax dollars to invade and brutally occupy sovereign nations in the middle east, creating more deficit, more enemies and acting as an imperialist Hitler type when the money should be spent to create new jobs and help our own people while bringing home the troops and putting them to work protecting Americans on U.S. soil. It's been 10 long Years on October 3,2000 that we Lost Ben Orr to Pancreatic Cancer at 53. I still Miss you and Enjoy all of the Great Music you left us with. You were not just Beautiful but Talented & Humble besides.
I never had a chance to see them live being a fan based in the UK was a bit difficult in the 80's. followed them as closely as I could & broke my heart when I found out Ben had died. Their music was everything to me when I was growing up and still listen to them to this day. I always hoped he was as nice a person as he looked 'cos he was so damn gorgeous......RIP Ben we valued your music more than words can say.
Loved The Cars and took a lot of ribbing for liking them when they first came out...but then the rest of the world took notice and caught on. Benjamin Orr...loved him...so sad...
Benjamin Orr, an icon of the 80's. Just hearing his voice makes me smile and takes me back to the good old days. I had such a crush on him, my room was covered with his pictures and you could hear "The Cars" 24 hrs a day. They just don't make them like that anymore. Great voice, great music, great band!!!!!!
This is a great music and great tribute to a greatest man in rock music's history. Rock music is never the same without such legendary icons like Benjamin Orr, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson_(he did some rock songs too beside pops), and Jeff Porcaro, including many others too numerous to name.
Nice tribute dude, shame the music Nazi's from WMG can't be cool, Always loved the cars, Just downloaded an excellent Karaoke version of you might think and best friends girl. I liked Bens singing style, sad loss.
Don't insult "nazis".......a more apt description would be the "the music JEWS at WMG". I'm sick of people who don't know anything about WW2 disparaging a movement they know nothing about. And actually, before he died, Benjamin Orr saw how Jews run the music industry and rip off artists. Ben was quintessteially cool....carried concealed weapons and was totally against the whole leftist, multiculural ethic.
@seandeyoung01 The track is owned by WMG, the lip reading experts, so they removed all the audio from this video... I completely agree with you, this is ridiculous.
Dear YouTube friends: Mr. Orr was a genius. Unfortunately, God only knows why people come and go. I will never agree with God's design. I am not a catholic. I believe some alien (God's envoy) made earth and men. It seems for God life has no meaning. Some are born, some die,so easily,so sadly. Ok, let's forget it!
I don't wanna argue, just wanna show my opinion :P
In my opinion, God made the whole universe, every star in it, every detail in that star etc. (and you know that the universe is endless) God made Earth and people and he made nature and all that stuff, and destiny for me and other people and he said when am I and you are going to die, and we'll die in that exact mili-second. My beliefs! :P ;)
@Slance1Himself What has god got to do with any of this? I don't understand why religious people always have to bring people down, down, down. It's always a lecture about the world view. Let's talk about the music and forget about the rest for now.
I always loved the Cars..kinda lost my passion for the for awhile. But now it's coming back. Will always have great respect for Ben Orr. Checking out The New Cars. Sure will miss BO, though!
Ben and I went to school together in the Cleveland area (Parma) in the early and mid 60's. He'd bring a guitar with him to Pleasant Valley Junior High in '63 and play it whenever he could. I loved his passion for music then and for a career in it. He made it big-time!
Can you share a bit more of your memory of him? What was he like...did you ever talk to him...what h.s.crowd did he hang out with...did you ever hear him sing or play back then...was he as friendly to everyone as in my imaginings? anything, just anything, miss him so much...thanks, wireless
God, I was always so in love with Benjamin Orr! I was so shocked when he died...I never even knew he was sick! This was a nice tribute for a great musician!
i saw the cars a few times back in the days. what a great band..they put out such great long lasting songs.one of my all time favorite bands...thank you the cars for turning me on to alternative rock they were so far ahead of their times..
Great tribute!! The cars are still my favorite band. I saw them in concert back in the late 70's-I was a freshman in High School. They were fantastic. Now, I have 4 sons and they all love their music too.
My sons and I like the same music-believe it or not. I was lucky to see them in the flesh-I live in New Orleans and my friend & I went to see them-they were unbelievable. They will always be my favorite.
Do you have a video of their song All Mixed UP? That is one of my favorite songs by them,I love all of their songs, but All mixed up and Candy O are my absolute fav's.
I have 4 sons, ages 24, 22, 18, and 16. They like some of my music, but not all of it. The older ones like Pink Floyd, Led Zeplen, Cake, Green Day 311. The younger ones like Green Day, 311, better than Ezra, Cowboy mouth, cars, The Police. One song we all agree on is Blue Oyster Cult-Don't fear the Reaper. We like the same movie as out favorite-The original HALLOWEEN.
Oh my God, I love that song-I did not know who sang it. You are correct-it was a big hit when I was a teen. Thanks for letting me know, I forgot about that one.
great tribute! i was fortunate to have met the entire band during a recording session at Electric Lady Studio on 8th St, NYC, NY in 1986. It's interesting how a few years later in summer of 1989 I ran into Ben Orr with his wife and niece at a balloon festival in vermont. Ben was down to earth! On the other hand, on several occassions I ran into Rick Ocasek at Tower Records, 4th St Broadway, NYC. and once in Boston, MA on commonwealth avenue near the commons. Rick you fucking ego prick!
awesome tribute, i just really found out about the cars last year and i just love their music, and i saw the new cars at common ground, and it proves that nobody can replace the voices of The Cars
