@GBagley thanks, i'm so hell bent on trying to get your tone, i'm willing to sell my arsenal of guitars. it's that perfect to my ears. did the bad-ass bridge offer good low end too, or was it mostly mid-rangey? also, do you remember anything else about the bass? type of body wood used? pre-amp? type of bart pups? was there a cap of different wood on the body? fretboard? was it a certain type of model of vj modulus? anything you can remember. thanks a mill. adam. :)
hello fellow thudstaff operators (bass players). what do you guys think, a moon bass jj-4 or a modulus vj bass? which & why please.. also are they both good for slapping? any feedback would be highly appreciated! thanks, adam. :)
How did you practice? Did you use a teacher? How did you learn how to improv beautifully and write music that doesnt suck. everything i do is horrible.
Congrats on a nice video. How do you like the Briefcase? I am thinking of getting one myself for my Fender CS Jazz Bass '64, playing mostly funk and blues/rock.. I would appreciate if you could let me know in as many details as possible,
Would you recommend the briefcase or the superflightcase? Thanks
Thanks! I love the Briefcase, it's my main practice amp and I've used it for some gigs too. Sounds surprisingly good for such a little amp. I'm sure the Flightcase would sound even better and be more powerful, though it's bigger and isn't battery powered. Depends on what you're going for I guess.
As always, an awesome video. You're tone and playing is fantastic (as usual) Please keep uploading your videos because there are quite a few people who watch and check for updates.
how low can you get the action on this baby? measured from bottom of the string to the top of the 12th fret? can you get it to still play clean at about a 1.5mm action height on the E string?
I don't have a super accurate way of measuring, but my E string is about the thickness of a credit card (listed as .76mm) from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string at the 12th fret. A little lower on the G-string. It's rediculously low. Fine for solo stuff like these videos, but I wouldn't want to play it like this in a band situation. Been meaning to raise the action a bit anyways.
Yeah, I play around the Seattle area. No shows scheduled right now, but there's always something in the works. If you send me a message with your email I'll try to remember to let you know if I have a show coming up.
Cool, I'm a Seattle bass player too. I just don't have a great video camera or I'd put up some vids of me. I play bass for CFC in Mill Creek. Keep the vids coming. I love my Fender Jazz Bass 24 with Lindy Fralin handwounds!
Great style I like it but you should try putting in some percusives with your right hand in your first solo to put a beat to it. Have you heard of Renaud Garcia-Fons hes a double bassist but you should check him out ! keep the solos comin
I don't really play in any 'drop tunings' persay, but I do like to use the D-tuner for an occasional low note extension. So if a song ends on a D, I can throw in the lower octave. I had it set to drop to a low C in this video. Or I'll use it on my 5-string to drop down to a low A sometimes.
is it just me or does that bass look just like a peavey millenium jazz bass? thats what ive got but you get a much better tone out of a modulus for sure
ANYONE WANT TO BUY THIS EXACT BASS? I HAVE ONE, DONT PLAY IT MUCH ANYMORE... MAIL ME

hi, awesome playing and wonderful tone!. can you remember what type of bridge you had on this bass? was it a bad-ass bridge?
adebicki 1 month ago
@adebicki - Yep, BadAss bridge, along with the graphite neck made for some crazy sustain.

this is just amzing beautiful great awesome ......
did you have alot of music theory and bass lessons ?

It might be a strange question, but how much space is there between the strings and the body?
When I'm slapping, I like to have a "stopping point"
The space is fine on my Zon Sonus and on almost every bass with a pickguard, but It's not on a Warwick which I think has to much space...
Just asking because I'm interested in a VJ4 and it's close to impossible to try one out here in Belgium.
