  • ANYONE WANT TO BUY THIS EXACT BASS? I HAVE ONE, DONT PLAY IT MUCH ANYMORE... MAIL ME

  • hi, awesome playing and wonderful tone!. can you remember what type of bridge you had on this bass? was it a bad-ass bridge?

  • @adebicki - Yep, BadAss bridge, along with the graphite neck made for some crazy sustain.

  • @GBagley thanks, i'm so hell bent on trying to get your tone, i'm willing to sell my arsenal of guitars. it's that perfect to my ears. did the bad-ass bridge offer good low end too, or was it mostly mid-rangey? also, do you remember anything else about the bass? type of body wood used? pre-amp? type of bart pups? was there a cap of different wood on the body? fretboard? was it a certain type of model of vj modulus? anything you can remember. thanks a mill. adam. :)

  • I would also like to know what key or mode your using. Love the playing!

  • nice tone!

  • hello fellow thudstaff operators (bass players). what do you guys think, a moon bass jj-4 or a modulus vj bass? which & why please.. also are they both good for slapping? any feedback would be highly appreciated! thanks, adam. :)

  • Modulus, one of the best tones around. Simply legendary!

  • gotta say it again, this piece is absolutely beautiful!

  • absolutely beautiful!

  • are you soloing over any particular scales?

  • Do you have any artist suggestions who influenced your bass playing?

  • Love the sound of your bass :)

  • Love it ! You used distortion or clean bass sound ?

  • @DoodSanglo most likely a clean sound.

  • this is just amzing beautiful great awesome ......

did you have alot of music theory and bass lessons ?

  • It might be a strange question, but how much space is there between the strings and the body?

When I'm slapping, I like to have a "stopping point"

The space is fine on my Zon Sonus and on almost every bass with a pickguard, but It's not on a Warwick which I think has to much space...

Just asking because I'm interested in a VJ4 and it's close to impossible to try one out here in Belgium.

  • How did you build your dexterity and finger speed?

  • @email11123 - by playing and practicing a lot! I don't have any big secrets for you, just takes work.

  • @GBagley

How did you practice? Did you use a teacher? How did you learn how to improv beautifully and write music that doesnt suck. everything i do is horrible.

  • @automaton01 What?

  • you have a nice touch and good sense of improvisation. the bass and pjb amps are incredible as well

  • are those the bartolini pickups which pre??or are they the vj villex

  • They are the bartolini pickups. I'm not sure which pre it had (bass and treble EQ, boost only). I don't have this bass anymore.

  • My dream bass!

  • How are you so godly?

  • I hate that basses with graphite neck are so expensive... Phenomenal Sustain and tone stability :-)

  • Daaaamm that's hot, very nice :)

  • really good improvs, i watched all 3. What scales do you use mostly?

  • Congrats on a nice video. How do you like the Briefcase? I am thinking of getting one myself for my Fender CS Jazz Bass '64, playing mostly funk and blues/rock.. I would appreciate if you could let me know in as many details as possible,

Would you recommend the briefcase or the superflightcase? Thanks

  • Thanks! I love the Briefcase, it's my main practice amp and I've used it for some gigs too. Sounds surprisingly good for such a little amp. I'm sure the Flightcase would sound even better and be more powerful, though it's bigger and isn't battery powered. Depends on what you're going for I guess.

  • what sort of price are we talking for the bass/amp used here?

  • Check out my video "Dystopia - Solo Bass Improvisation III" too for some more Briefcase action.

  • that bass has a sick tone

  • Your playing is not predictable.

You own all of those solos dude!!!

  • As always, an awesome video. You're tone and playing is fantastic (as usual) Please keep uploading your videos because there are quite a few people who watch and check for updates.

  • This video just convinced me to get a modulus.

  • what kind of amp do you have?

  • It's a Phil Jones Briefcase amp, running on internal battery power.

  • how low can you get the action on this baby? measured from bottom of the string to the top of the 12th fret? can you get it to still play clean at about a 1.5mm action height on the E string?

  • I don't have a super accurate way of measuring, but my E string is about the thickness of a credit card (listed as .76mm) from the top of the fret to the bottom of the string at the 12th fret. A little lower on the G-string. It's rediculously low. Fine for solo stuff like these videos, but I wouldn't want to play it like this in a band situation. Been meaning to raise the action a bit anyways.

  • Do you play anywhere in public? I would like to come see you. I live in Puyallup.

  • Yeah, I play around the Seattle area. No shows scheduled right now, but there's always something in the works. If you send me a message with your email I'll try to remember to let you know if I have a show coming up.

  • do you have a band???

  • I do various freelance projects here and there, not really any full time band.

  • new bass?

  • I've had it since March actually. Just never got around to doing a video with it until now.

  • how many basses do you have now? it seems like an arsanel of basses ready to be called upon when needed

  • I have 8 basses at the moment. It's a pretty awesome arsenal. Not planning on buying or selling anything anytime soon!

  • awesome as always

  • Cool, I'm a Seattle bass player too. I just don't have a great video camera or I'd put up some vids of me. I play bass for CFC in Mill Creek. Keep the vids coming. I love my Fender Jazz Bass 24 with Lindy Fralin handwounds!

  • Great style I like it but you should try putting in some percusives with your right hand in your first solo to put a beat to it. Have you heard of Renaud Garcia-Fons hes a double bassist but you should check him out ! keep the solos comin

  • are you flea?

  • Been thinking about getting a Drop tuner on my Fender JBass for a while now and I was wondering how often you actually use it?

  • I don't really play in any 'drop tunings' persay, but I do like to use the D-tuner for an occasional low note extension. So if a song ends on a D, I can throw in the lower octave. I had it set to drop to a low C in this video. Or I'll use it on my 5-string to drop down to a low A sometimes.

  • Amazing bass playing. You are one of my inspirations to keep playing as someone else said too. Do you play any shows?

  • Thanks! I do play shows. Mostly in the Seattle area.

  • is it just me or does that bass look just like a peavey millenium jazz bass? thats what ive got but you get a much better tone out of a modulus for sure

  • They do have a simmilar look. The Modulus is closer to a traditional J-Bass shape (the horns).

  • that bass sounds so freakin good! im sure the PJ Briefcase adds too it too! i wish i had one of those!

  • How many basses do you have???

  • I have 8 basses.

  • Very nice vid, love all your videos. 5/5 Keep up the good work man.

  • Sound sooo good !

    grest stuff man !

  • bagley rules!!!! awsome videos how many basses do you have

  • I have 8 basses.

  • this bass is really heavy!!

  • I love that bass man.

  • dude how do you get the money for all these basses that you have. haha its like a diff bass each vid

  • I have 8 basses and I've been playing for about 10 years. That's less than 1 bass a year. I have a job and I'm smart with my money. Simple as that.

  • That is some pretty intense tone. Seriously love it. I'm sure it only sounds this good in the hands of a master though ;)

  • how do you get that soud o_o

  • active bass, low action.

  • You really love those Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds xD

  • you are definitely one of the inspirations that keep me playing XD

  • you are a great bass player! do you play any other instruments?

  • Thanks. I primarily just play bass. Maybe a little piano and guitar occasionally.

  • What amp do you use to practice on?

  • This one is a Phil Jones Briefcase.

  • Word to the futon.

  • modulus basses are really nice. Another good reason why. FLEA!!!

  • Flea doesn't even use them anymore.

  • yes he does. Since when has he stopped??

  • thats great keep up the great work

your one of my infulences actually

  • I love the sustain on this bass! i loved the little intro in the beginning too! keep it up!

  • my god that was amazin

  • nice :D
