Just watched the movie very inspirational, SA deserved this and fought hard for this remeber we had Lomu but still wasn't quite enough, SA don't let kiwis get to your head we sometimes go overboard about rugby because its our passion like yours, but at the end of the day you guyz deserved this like we desered 2011 rwc because of the shit we been thru lately, BIG UPS TO SOUTH AFRICA, we are great opponent's in rugby union ! SA, NZ, AUS rugbyz greatest playing nations !!!

The All Blacks were poisoned, just a question of whether it was deliberately or not. There was soo many of the team ill and they did apparantly move some players into a different room for a meal for some reason. Reading this 'Suzy?'. However I'm sure it was nothing to do with the Boks players, mgmt or fans.Can be no proof of anything anyway. I did also hear was an underground betting agency that stood to lose alot if ABs had won.

Seriously NZ, get over it - the AB's weren't food poisoned, they were outplayed. Stop making excuses for every WC you failed to win and accept you weren't good enough on those occassions. It's really sad how, 15 years on, people still try to blame South Africa for food poisoning.

If they were poisoned, it wouldn't have been such a spectacular and close game - if one team was sick, there's no way they would be able to keep up in a final, let alone have to go into extra time, and have BOTH teams score in it.

And in any case, last time I checked the first time Jonah was properly tackled was by Joost van der Westhuizen.

it's really sad that the only way that South Africa could win was to poison the whole NZ team. The reason why they did it because they were piss scared of NZ and Jonah Lomu and because of political gain. Really sad :(

And to counter your doubt about Mr Steyn's integrity, the accused/involved were unable to show any material evidence disproving the claims either. @NuXta Certainly it was an extremely suspicious incident - as reported in that clip, practically the entire team fell sick the day prior to the final, and all were pretty much well the day following. Those are not standard symptoms. But I really don't want to turn this into a typically pointless exchange in which we just wind up hashing out our opinions to no good end. You believe what you will, and I will do the same. Exposing the corrupt underworld of sport hardly amounts to whingeing.

If I go and accuse someone of taking 100 dollars from me, I have to prove they took it. Just because they can't disprove it doesn't make it true. At any rate there are a number of reasons to make up the story. Could have been offered money, might have wanted media attention, may have been disgruntled over his job for some reason, who knows....

@BushyX Unfortunately the match will always be clouded with suspicion, but regardless of what actually happened the result was the best thing for south africa. The All Blacks were apart of something much bigger then rugby that day.

Even though the 95 All Blacks losted I think many around the rugby world still believe they were the better team, perhaps the best ever ...

Except for Johnny Clegg and PJ Powers, no prominent white South African person has ever respectfully co-opted black culture in SA. I recently read somewhere that very few of the players on the field were effected, however it was confirmed that several guys had food poisoning the day before and that a foreign bookie owned up to it. However in the same article it said that all players were recovered by game time

@awaii90210 Actually, the meaning of the haka is a reference to the leader of the Nga Puhi tribe who attacked many other tribes. But then was defeated and went on the run. He hid down in a food pit. But through a moment of inspiration, realised he is not yet totally defeated. He chose to rise up and take on any challenge once again. Hence, he is suddenly going on about death is not yet upon him, celebrate life and he will overcome any new challenges.

@bangbuster3 The food poisoning was real. There is a strong consistency between the stories retold in the autobiographys of the players. Here in NZ, the food poisoning was reported 24 hours BEFORE the game started. I remember it being announced on the radio. I don't buy into the whole conspiracy theory stuff, but the guys were sick.

However, you cant ignore the fact that most of the team was sick and its not a common thing for players to vomit during a Rugby match, let alone an international team. But I do also understand your point. Yes South Africa played well, but how could they beat a team that one the first world cup, broke a scoring record and beat teams with more than 100 point gap

Nelson Mandela himself, supported this team, and actually made an unheard of appearance at the game, wearing their jersey! The tournament also took place IN South Africa.. You think the Haka is menacing.. try looking at 60,000 rabid S. Africans! It's worse than the soccer hooligans in the UK!

It's just that they're generally well-behaved and good sports You wanna know what a hostile crowd is, then you'll find them at South American soccer matches. At any minute those guys could run onto the field and beat up the players, referees, each other, etc. At other times, they just stay in the stands and torch the stadium!!!

@joelocrevisionista They lost because the South Africans were able to put a stop to their star player Jonah Lomu. Who had an absolute legendary game in the Semi's against England. Even after the world cup Jonah was never able to score any points against the South Africans. He didn't intimidate the boks like he did some of the other teams, even the Aussies caught on a couple of years later when Gregan managed to take him down on his own. He is however still one of the greatest ever!
