When the new He-Man was made She-Ra was intended to be introduced for season 3. However, they didnt give He-Man a chance to grow with the public, by putting it on channels most people couldnt get. And they never released the dvds in the uk for it. I wish Filmation had carried on with He-Man and She-Ra. We would have seen so many great cross over episodes and perhaps a chance to see how Teela would feel about She-Ra being in He-Mans life. Bring it back
The backing music in this and He-man was so epic. I wish I could get my hands on a He-man and She-ra cd with all the backing music. They just dont make programs for kids as epic as this anymore. These programs even had morals at the end of them.
Horde Prime is the Emperor of the Horde. Hordak is second in command and also is strongly believed with this episode that Horde Prime and Hordak are brothers because that boy next to Hordak that wears a yellow shirt with the horde logo on it is Horde prime's son who calls Hordak Uncle.
I don't get it. Hordak was always the leader then all the sudden there is this off screen guy named Horde Prime. In addition the Light hope and Cristal castle are still yet to be seen.
If you purchase the She-Ra DVDs and watch the episode "Of Shadows and Skulls" You will see Light Hope and the Crystal Castle because She-Ra flies there on Swift Wind to find out that Shadow Weaver has helped Skeletor come to her world in order to try to take out Hordak. You also need to see the He-Man and She-Ra Christmas special and you can see Horde Prime command both Hordak and Skeletor to do something.
I purchased them as a gift for someone else but never watched them. This sudden introduction of Horde Prime confuses me. In the toy version Hordak was the leader of the Evil Horde. Catra is second in command. Horde prime just kind of suddenly appeared. There was no mention of Horde prime before this episode. None I picked up on anyway. It makes Hordak look weaker to have someone above him.
Well the way you can get a full explination about Horde prime is if back when the tv show was originally aired they also made some comic books of She-Ra and I think you got more detals out of the comic books about the origin of Horde Prime being on one world most of the time and letting Hordak Rule over Etheria himself. I think Horde prime came out after he started hearing Hordak was being beaten by She-Ra too many times. That is all I can say.
i really liked the new He-Man, as well as the old one. i kinda wish there had been more people into the new one, so it would've gone on longer. im a He-man fan for life!! :D
I agree the new cartoons that are remakes of the old classics like He-Man are more violent than the originals and that is why many people want to have the originals on DVD so they can have better things for thier children to watch when the children get home from school each day instead of the garbage they have on tv now.
What caused that new version of He-man not to do good is the fact that Cartoon Network refused to ever try to re air the 1983 He-Man and 1985 She-Ra shows. There was a website online for a while that showed Employees of that station sent letters back to people who were asking about these shows that had prophanity in the letters from the station. Many Original fans were angry at the station for picking up the new version and never showing the original. Plus remakes never do as good as original
The advertisements are starting to piss me off.. I get stopped every time at the same marker 9:34 due to an ad and then I can't start it back up.. It is really quite frustrating.. I've spent 45 min trying to watch this episode, will have to give up though and move on to the next one I guess.. :(
Does anyone else get the feeling that this cartoon was intended as a not-so-subtle bit of Reaganite propaganda, meant to appeal a set superstitious, backwards old rural viewers, and portraying a military-industrial technology cult as pure evil, intended as a diss on the USSR? If so, it's very hypocritical, considering the 1980s were one of the most materialistic and military-industrial eras in America, too, and Reagan didn't give a shit about saving the forest.
this is too much heavy commentary over a 1980's cartoon. there was no Reagan-esque propaganda.
the creators had to insert a "moral" in each episode, like on HE-MAN, before the network would air it. this show, like HE-MAN, was based on a toy line and there was a time when advertising to children was prohibited and so by having a moralistic over-tone on this show...even SUPERFRIENDS, too...the networks wouldn't air the cartoon's without the "moral to the story" added in.
And so, those morals at the end of the episodes is how the shows were able to get accepted by the networks at the time. You must be joking if you think "old rural viewers" watched a cartoon like this. At the most this cartoon's age group was anywhere between 6 and 14 or perhaps 15 and 16 in both boy and girl audiences. I'm a man...I watched SHE-RA and HE-MAN...to me both shows were fun to watch. They still are...I have the DVD collections of both series.
I see your point, but the spoken morals aren't what made me suspect those undertones. It's the fact that the good guys are the rural people who have nothing in this show but bizarre magic, and the badguys are the advanced, military-industrial society. Whether this is meant as a hearkening back to the old rural American Dream, or it's just environmentalist spewing ala Captain Planet, I can't say, but it still annoys me.
the concept of this cartoon was to make fun of dictators...which is what Hordak and his people were...and the best way to make fun of a dictatorship is to have them out-smarted by an unlikely group, like The Great Rebellion.
These people aren't rural people...they're villagers who banded together and they hide in the Whispering Woods which is laced with magic. They call themselves rebels because they never fell to Hordak's dominance.
so the bulk of the show was seeing the latest schemes by Hordak and company attempting to over-throw Bright Moon/the Whispering Woods but failing each and every time. the show's overall lesson was that no matter how much power someone may have if they're greedy or tyrannical then they'll cause their own downfall; and that's mainly the reason why I think the show cast the rebels as the smartest even though they didn't possess the weaponry that the Horde did...the Horde caused their own failures.
as everyone knows...SHE-RA was a reverse of HE-MAN. on SHE-RA, the story was about a group of rebels trying to free their planet from the Horde's rule; on HE-MAN the story was about a planet free from dictatorship and the villains who wanted to enslave the planet and control it {led by Skeletor}.
SHE-RA was simply a cartoon about rebels out-smarting a dictator and HE-MAN was about a group of villains trying to conquer a planet. I still don't see your side of it.
I like how Adora's just walking along and then is all of a sudden is like "uh oh, I forgot to turn into She-Ra".. then she does it. No words, nothing.
Then what if she accidentally pointed her sword at someone other than Spirit. Would THEY grow wings and turn into Buttwind or something?
See you don't think of these things when you're five.
I know. I was just making an observation at how amusing it is that different things occur to us as adults, vs. when we were children. I find the difference delightful.

seriously. what is the point of catra? she turns into a panther...and, well, does nothing productive after that.
mrhat1978 2 years ago 11
look sexy perhaps? But then this was meant for children. Aah can't spell Filmation, without "T" & "A"

@mrhat1978
Actually, she really is lesser productive than that. Had she had not stolen the mask, she really wouldn't have any kind of defense.

@mrhat1978 Catra is supposed to have the same powers that a black panther has.

@mrhat1978 Surely to defend against catra you would just need a very big dog? Scooby Doo...where are you??

how did hord prime get a normal looking son???
deadman00 2 years ago 2
Not really sure, unless Horde Prime started raising kiddie clones to do his dirty work for him.
It's been a while since I watched the show, but the premise behind Prime was that he was a giant set of iron claws with no body, right?
radamail 2 years ago
he has a giant metal claw yes. but he also has two red eyes. in dialoge its refered that he has two of everything, including two heads.
but the implication is that hordak is hord primes brother
which is interesting.
the kid looks normal save for his pointed ears.
maybe he had a humnoid mother who was made preggers at some point by hord prime.
