It just simply eighties Rock at it's very very best! Dig that guitar at 2:57 onwards. It's just pure magic, pure emotion. This band realy excelled when they produce this (rather underated) masterpiece. They wre on top form. There's rarely anything around these days that can come anywhere near to a comparison to this joyful work. I salute you Level 42!
I know...I was listening to an old school set on the radio the other day and there were some really great tunes from the 80s&90s. It made me think of what the great old school tunes will be from this era...wat FLO-RIDA!?!?
Level 42 just does it right!! Heaven In My Hands makes me smirk. Just love it! The band is just smokin'! (and so is Mark). And yeah, I like the song "Tracie"...not the same spelling..but I have had fantasies.
that song showing that the music and bands of 80,s are unbeliavle!!! in one of the last album realease a awesome theme like that! it should be normal in they crusial time "runing in the family" but in the final of his career...fantastic!
LOVE THEM & MARK XXXXXXXXXXJust seen them at newcastle they were fantastic as always seen them three times over the years and they are fab live, mark is god on that bass, he done a solo he was fantastic crowd went wild, cant wait to see them again.
Level 42 was and is for me one of the greatest funkbands of the world. Only now Mark is playing a Status bass(Nice guitar) but the old songs must be played on the original Jaydee bassguitar!! And the last album dissapoints me. Why? The sound of the status bass is an hifi sound, not a incredible bass low sound of the Jaydee bass!
Never Mind Mate! Always good friends! I prefer the Jaydee for the sound!!! And the Status bass is playing very light. I have sold both basses(a must, because two motorcycles has stolen from me brb.) and now i am looking again for a jaydee!
the status sounds very clinical and the jaydee sounds more woody and earthy ,at the mo the status is my bag as the live at reading gig is on the hit list cheers all the best
I've worked for years as a jazz musician, and this is still the only pop band that gets me as excited as John Coltrane -- the musicianship is almost too good to be believed.
This is definately one of Level 42's most underated tunes.
Unfortunately, the guitarist Alan Murphy died a few years later and I believe it was his influence on this tune that gave it a more rock/metal style.
Remember boys and girls, Level 42 have always been a fusion band. In the early days they were blending jazz funk with many different genres so its no surprise they mixed rock with funk.
Love Mark's funky little lip curl. The voice and the face are a perfect match. Tight little body too. The Gods were in great form the day they created him. Not to mention all the talent that goes along with it. He is still a looker to this day.
Reminds me very much of being 17, at college, right in London's West End! This song sounded so much louder and prouder than it would in any other part of the world!!
Great track! I remember an old interview in which Mark King talked about the making of this video. You'll see that the band are shown in black and white on a colour background. He said that the band members had to put a blue shade on their bodies, so that they would appear grey in the video. Such was the state of CGI at the time! Of course now things are much simpler 20 years on!
especially since the beginning of 2000's i've really taken this song on as a personal inspiration, and the quote "i won't stop until
i'm holding-heaven in my hands ('result of a great lifestyle in the making) and i'll use this song for the up-and-coming vision statement that'll be in youtube ('come take a look) thanks again mark king and the mates
I agree with all comments (or most) posted below... Indeed such grove and energy stems from this song... Level 42 is TOP NOTCH... My favorite Post Beatle band... Indeed shame on the US record/music industry for failing to recongnized this band for its incredible talent... And such awsome memories linked to this song and the group...
I think this tune is one of their most underrated ones. It's quite heavy like a classic rock song, but with a strong groove, and a little bit more sphistication ;)
Bullshit corporate America music industry! Level has never got the credit due to them in the states even though they are probably one of the best British bands since the Beatles. Go figure...I just wish they'd play the states one more time. I saw them once opening for Madonna no less and all I can say is too bad she took the stage!
It doesn't matter how you cut it, this is a great rock song showing the band off to their full potential. What a talented group of musicians they all are.
What a masterpiece.Great combination of Worldclass musicianship and great songwriting

Guitar - the brilliant Alan Murphy: the guitarist behind much of Kate Bush's music. The bit at 2:57 sends shivers through me.
So sad he died so young.
