Sure, it's aged badly and western fighting games are never that "good" or deep. It's a very fun casual game to just boot up and play the story-mode with one character... I think the reason why it was so popular is because it had a great soundtrack, lots of customization options like speed settings etc., tons of unlockable secrets, and even online multiplayer which I never used though...

For more than 15 years, from my 7 (im 22) I still play it sometimes, forget on it for some years but never forget and found it again. This game is part of my life, when I was young and life was easy. Music is Epic, the best intro music ever. Soon I will buy some old museum crap machine with dosbox just to make sure I'l be able to play it after some time in future. Never forget. I used to kick ass in this. First time with the 486 we used the Turbo button to increase the speed since it was sooo sluggish. Later when I got a hold of the full game I was l33t at two of the robots, Shadow and Chronos (chronos had the easiest finishing move and coolest looking imo).

This game was so awesome. Makes me wanna reinstall OMF2097 and play it again, so many memories of the summer of 1995 or so. :) The ability to make custom tournaments for tournaments mode was awesome. It's too bad the sequel, for me, did not live up to the greatness of the original. I think mainly b/c they tried to go for something that had ubar graphics, and that was not what made the original great. It was the gameplay, not the graphics. You gotta have both these days if you want a great game.

You know what's weird? Usually, when you haven't played a game for a while and tried playing it again - you get better at it.

However, on this game, I got worse, a LOT worse! Hell, my 6 - 7 year old self could beat me at this game with one hand tied behind his back. I used to play as Flail before and own at the game, but now I find myself playing as either Shadow, Jaguar or Chronos.

This game was and still is amazing, I wonder why not so many people have played it, it's awesome!
