this is the national sport of the philippines. however, i think it would be better if it would just be basketball/football. our nation does not occasionally play this. it's a very good sport though.

i doubt we'll see it in the olympic anytime soon. as awesome as takraw is, only a handful of countries master this sport, if it were in the lympic, it'll give unfair advantages to southeast asian countries :/

i learned to play this game in the northern jungles of laos, they spent may late afternoons passing away the time- serving and returning with my head i was quiet good- but return kick it usually fell or went flying into the jungle- never stopped laughing

The most fun thing about this game is the tradition of doing an "in your face" act when you score a point.. unlike in other sports, you'd be labeled as a player with no sportsmanship, but in Takraw, it's the thing that you do. @dksilentbob Actually, though the kicks are impressive, tkd practitioners are really weak if closed on. They're easily taken to the ground, where anyone with a knowledge of grappling would easily beat them. Still cool to see, though.

Its not that difficult if you are decent at juggling in soccer. it is similar but you just need to learn how the ball reacts when you strike it certain ways. i will tell you it does hurt your feet and ankles everytime you strike the ball. the ball is made of hard plastic and you will be very sore first time trying this sport. dont let it discourage you though after awhile your nerves become used to it and you wont feel the pain as much anymore.
