@chandlerfyfe1 Easy, you do the pitch harmonic and instantly hit the tremolo bar way down so it will tremble and give you that weird sound. However, you have to have all the strings muted but the one you played, otherwise it will sound nasty.

It's a good example to show how smooth, what perfect accuracy he has got and the great reward he gets after many years of guitar playing! He uses not much hand movement as well, which is amazing!

@MagusGod The guitarport is an audio interface/soundcard, you plug your guitar into it and it is plugged into your computer. You can then use monitors or headphones which are plugged into the guitarport aswell, besides software that is all you will need to get started recording guitars. The guitarport is very out of date though I would recommend a Line6 UX1 or UX2 to anyone starting off.

to the people wondering what happened at 0:46, its called a flutter, and you do it by hitting the tremolo and letting it flick back up. im pretty sure there was a pick harmonic too. look up tutorials on youtube, theres lots

@MiikeCS Thanks MiikeCS, their are a lot of ways to work on your aural skills,

the most basic one is just to listen to a piece of music and hear what techniques are used, the rythm/syncopation, listening to the drums then listen to the guitars then keyboards, your ears will be able to isolate them after a while.

For tabbing it really helps to now your theory when figuring guitar parts out, like the scale positions and chords, easiest way is to figure one note out at a time by pause and rewind

Hey man, well good luck and congrats for starting guitar, I took lessons for the first 3 years of playing, I had 2 teachers, one for rock/basics and oner for classical & theory, I generally don't use tabs cause I've trained my ear to pick up music but its perfectly OK to use tabs for complex solos/riffs or learning a song quickly, tabbing songs yourself is more for a challenge but is essential increasing your aural skills, try not to rush guitar though, learn the basics and go at your own pace
