An old man shot and killed a state trooper on a regular traffic stop. Never under estimate anyone. Stupid old lady. By her not signing the citation, the officer SHALL arrest the suspect and take them before a magistrate. (penal CODE) By not signing the citation she is automatically is saying that she Fails to appear in court. I already have done it. There are over 9000 documented cases wher the taser saved lives or serious bodily injury. Documented, proven. I have been there, personally where a person who was tazed was subdued without having to be shot....many times. That is a saved life. We have used tazers in place of a real gun many times, each time, saving a life. I prefer the taser over my gun, nightstick, or even pepper spray, and every time it has done with no lasting physical harm to the suspect. Proven.

The taser effects the muscle under the skin only, and the amperage is only .021 amps, 30 times less than the minimum lethal dosage of .7 amps.

A person in their home is not conducting criminal acts that warrant being tased, and anyone with a heart condition so severe that a taser would kill them is not capable of committing acts worthy of being tased

But I have seen unnecessary incidents arise through mismanagement and total insensitivity of social workers. Who instead of empathy literally tell the person they can do what they want and will call the police if they cause problems or object. I think police are misused by other professionals. Seen it.
Also, you do not know what I have done and a lot on my own without a SWAT team or armour or arms. Different scenarios. I'll help you "Hunt" the granny. Armoured personnel, high velocity rifles, dogs that can bite down on a chicken stick leg and maybe a few helecopters with air exocet and rapid fire machine guns. Yep. I'm sure we'll get her between us. Shoot that Mother****** Down. Bitch jumped a light and parked in the wrong bay at the Mall.
It doesn't matter what you have done on your own. You never worked law enforecment in the US where every cop is armed, and a large majority of the population is armed. I have no desire to "Shoot that Mother****** Down". I never had to shoot anyone, though I had many situations where I would have been justified legally in doing so. I have also been shot at. I have talked many a perp down, and will always try to do so. But again, to say you can handle everyone without violence is naive.
Like I say you do not know what I have done. Gald that Tazer is there for the situations it is meant for. But can see it is overused by incompetent cops. Not without harm or long tern effect as Mental Distress and PTSD can then be life long. Depression and anxiety and agoraphobia high in elderly and fear of assault. This will not help. Long term life long effect. Rapid deterioartion after such an incident. Misuse has taken away the postive press it should have and destroyed trust in police.
Worked with brave, fully armoured and armed police who went into tough situations. Crisis Nurse. They would hide behind the bins and garden walls wait for me to arrive then tell me to go in alone first as I ws the expert. to the upset person with shotguns and a collection of knives. They would be "RIGHT BEHIND ME" literally. Also I have taken away rights n explain bad news to someone. Never had to use esclated aggression to calm someone down. Always creates the opposite result.
I am a SWAT medic, trained Crisis nurses, Doctors and medics for years at Angola Prison, been there, done that, been shot in the face. I was the medic, PLUS the fully armored and armed police, your scenairo don't hunt my friend. Assaulters dont wait for the crisis nurse. 11 years on the street, you have done nothing that I have not done, I am certainly an expert in my field as well.

In a recent conversation about how to manage a 94 year old woman with dementia and extreme distress and fear after two homes who ahd abused her. you have to remember, the vehicle has not been searched yet, there could be a gun or other deadly weapon in the car. she tries to get back to the car. she dared him twice to take her to jail, then dared him twice to taser her, then jerked away from him when he went to put the handcuffs on her. it is simple. obey the law, you will be on your way. screw up like she did, and you get to eat dirt or pavement from a taser rendering you motionless. all she had to do was sign the ticket.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that this officer felt as though he was in any physical danger, which is the only reason for drawing any weapon. Bottom line. It does not take a taser to take down an old woman. If she's in the wrong, yes, cuff her and jail her...but a taser can be very serious for some people. Travis County police recently killed a young man with a taser because it stopped his heart. All I'm saying is that tasing CAN BE a dangerous thing and SHOULD only be used in extreme situations.

This is really bullshit. Just because your 72 and a great grandmother, the law doesn't apply to you? If a cop pulled over a 19 year old black man who refused to pull over the barrier, refused to sign the ticket, and then deliberately pulled away from the officer and became beligerent when placed under arrest, it wouldn't hit the news when the cop tasered the man. What are they supposed to do when someone resists arrest? Nothing? Punch them in the face? They use a taser - that's how it works.

Without threat, stress, pain or agravation. So gentle I can hold a man's wrist while I talk and calm him down Doesn't even realise he is being held. Worked with SWAT, very well schooled in Hap Kido and other techniques. Take the smallest person around you, if they hold their hands in front of them, in their center of strength, 10 men cannot just pull their arms to their back. You have to use some distractionary pain tenchiques. I can counter every wrist lock and thumb hold you can place on me.
However, I do agree, the shock was not necessary, but moreso, the shouting in her face and shoving was not needed either.

I already have done it. There are over 9000 documented cases wher the taser saved lives or serious bodily injury. Documented, proven. I have been there, personally where a person who was tazed was subdued without having to be shot....many times. That is a saved life. We have used tazers in place of a real gun many times, each time, saving a life. I prefer the taser over my gun, nightstick, or even pepper spray, and every time it has done with no lasting physical harm to the suspect. Proven.

When the taser is implicated in a death, it always involves some other factor. This is almost always drugs, but can also be a pre-existing medical condition.
The taser effects the muscle under the skin only, and the amperage is only .021 amps, 30 times less than the minimum lethal dosage of .7 amps.
Also, there is no setting on the taser, everyone gets the same voltage. Even the cops when trained.
85 cases for wrongful death by taser, not a single 1 found taser was the cause of death.

If you cannot see the video of Dziekanski and see that he is under great mental and physical stress, then there ins't much hope to reason with you. He was violent, threatening, combative, sweating profusely, breaking things. I don't care where you are, that isn't normal behavior, and again, the post mortum exam did not incicate the taser caused his death. Using your example, I see my point. Thi is where strict intelligence and discipline is needed. Its easy to sceond guess and arm chair quarter back the situation. The fact is, the cops did show up, and sized up the scene. The suspect was acting EXTREMELY irrationally. Did not respond to calm voice techniques. And at one point, he picked up at stapler, and swung it at the officers. That earned a taser ride. He could have easily caused serious bodily harm to the officers. NOTHING they did brought a rational reaction for the guy, Had he been in Poland, he would have been shot dead.

The police in Poland and trained far less than in Canada, or the US, or the UK. In Singapore, Cuba, Russia, Mexico, he would have been treated far worse.
And I am a diabetic, that has no bearing on being tased. We actually 'play' with the taser. See who can take more. It's painful for sure, but as soon as its over, its over. Its not deadly, no lasting effects, and overall it causes MUCH less injury than hand to hand, pepperspray, nightsticks and any other technique I have tried.

Latest police "Kill" was an elderly man who got upset becasue after years looking after his wife they were going to take her away and put her in a home. Separated after X number of loving years. From what I see over here, (not that the news is always the truth here) but your officers are being killed and assaulted at a far greater rate, therefore it is understandable that they are being more cautious, and defensive. They are sent to violent situations without any means to defend their own lives.
The Tussler case is sad for sure, but you kind of forgot to mention he had a gun, and was threatening people, including the police. That will get you shot just about anywhere my friend.

But it was because his head hit the ground that he died so nothing to do with the assailants. But when an armed taserist tasers somebody and it initiates death by heart failure, it was a "Pre-Existing Medical Condition".

Please cite those cases you are referring to. And an arsonist is willingly engaging in a felonious act.
A person in their home is not conducting criminal acts that warrant being tased, and anyone with a heart condition so severe that a taser would kill them is not capable of committing acts worthy of being tased

Oh my, you lied by ommision, You left out the fact that the 21 year old was a long time crack cocaine user, had warrants for his arrest for crack cocaine possession. The coroner could have just as well stated on the paperwork that he died of cardiac arrest after years of abusing dangerous drugs, including crack cocaine.
The officer is awaiting trial, we will see where the facts lead, not the hype and conjecture.

They would hide behind the bins and garden walls wait for me to arrive then tell me to go in alone first as I ws the expert. to the upset person with shotguns and a collection of knives. They would be "RIGHT BEHIND ME" literally. Also I have taken away rights n explain bad news to someone. Never had to use esclated aggression to calm someone down. Always creates the opposite result.

In a recent conversation about how to manage a 94 year old woman with dementia and extreme distress and fear after two homes who ahd abused her. The female nurses suggested and looked for ways of claming and reassuring her and dealing with her quikly. All the male nurse immediately wanted to use armlocks and inflict pain.

I much prefer a peaceful end to every situation, because every situation I went to could turn deadly, every situation had at least one gun, because I brought it. But to claim you can diffuse every situation with a calm voice or hand to hand techniques is naive, and the taser is a great intermediary, non lethal tool at our disposal.

No problem. Have dealt with some real situations. And known to be a tough B**** who will use everything. But also had reputation of having most success, no suicides and least incidents when on shift. The automatic "attitude" of some is aggressionand looking for a fight causes exacerbation. Some admitted they wanted a fight and disliked me for "denying" them one. But "hello Officer. May I help you?" "Yes Mam. Sorry to say you were speeding we have the evidence on camera......." has long gone.

True too many are looking for a fight, but again, millions of traffic stops each year here handled with courtesy and professionalism.
