It is now also an epic mod.

If you get the the newest version of the mod Oblivian Lost (it works on 1.0005) its awesome. you can drive cars, there are some cut out mutants like the dwarf, chimeria, and zombies. It also has blowouts and you can make different kinds of new artefacts.

They intentionally moved buildings to places where they should not be. Read the developers entries on gamespot. Its not a realistic representation of the actual layout of pripyat. If you have played Cod Modern Warfare then just stop!

I suggest you have a look at the Discovery program 'seconds till disaster', about the Chernobyl disaster. It's a real eyeopener, and will prevent you from making comment like these, if you know what happened to reactor 4 and why.

It's not a matter of the wrong people in the wrong place, it's more a matter of tiny little mistakes following eachother, which combined led to the disaster.

They were removed in the retail release. This version, the Alpha Version of Oblivion Lost, was released, for free, on the GSC forums, its a very different game to the commercial release, cars, zombies (and rather a lot of those too!) some totally different levels. Pretty sweet really, apart from its very incomplete.

Yes, Oblivion Lost was the title of this game before it became Shadow of Chernobyl. But there is a mod called "Oblivion Lost" that aims to bring the original concept of the game to the player now. It has so many things that aren't in the release version of SHOC it's incredible.

if you have version 1.0 and you try minimum or low quality settings you can't use flashlight nor nightvision. also in the key config it doesn't let you assign buttons for quick load / save so you don't even know you can use them! btw, defaults are F6 and F7..

also in version 1, if you save while you're affected by radiation you can as well restart the game! because when you'll load next time, the radiation won't wear off !!! not even if you use vodca rad kits or whatever

ok so the next list of bugs go for the latest version.. they -=*STILL*=- didn't patch them and most likely they never will !!! from curiosity i looked on the changes log of each patch - most of the improvements are for multiplayer only because they must've figured out so far that singleplayer will never be fixed.. it's totally fucked up!

bugs: when NPCs die sometimes their bodies and weapons can drop underground and you can't pick them up anymore. enemies can shoot thru walls - and no i don't refer to the fact that bullets can penetrate walls.. if there's an iron gate between you and an enemy, or if he's in a train vagon, his rifle gets thru the wall! and he can shoot you while you can't touch him. or if you save in the arena - i once saved when i was fighting the 2 OMON troops and when i loaded

i ended up on another fucking map !!! D= and i couldn't even get away from it because the only door was locked !!! but i was cautious and i used 3 different game saves so i didn't have to restart the game again..

there's also another annoying bug if you go against the Duty faction. in the start of the game if you want to get to the barkeep, you have to pass Duty's blockade. you can do it in 2 ways - either you do a mission and they let you pass or you kill them like i did first time i played..

now the problem is, if you kill those guys not only you'll have to fight an entire fucken army in the city and forget about doing Duty missions. if you play at master difficulty like i did, you can unload entire clips in soldiers and they won't die - the only way is to give them a couple of headshots. but it's even worse because in the Bar there's a Duty member. and if you remember, you are not allowed to use weapons in bar! althou he attacks you on sight

so you enter the bar, you want to talk trade accept missions from the barkeeper and suddently that guy attacks you! and you can't do shit! i even tried to lure him out of the bar but he won't cross that metal door no matter what! so you're totally stuck if you ever attack a Duty member

another bug is sometimes out of the blue you get random timed missions! without talking to any NPC. i noticed it mostly happens when you travel to new areas. and if you save after you receive such mission, after you load it says mission complete! althou you didn't kill nobody to finish it. totally fucked up

another bug: first i was assigned to shut down the brain scorcher by that scientist in the bunker. i do it and when i visit the bar keeper, he gives me the same mission! of course i couldn't do it since it was already shut down.. and because of this i couldn't continue my missions !!!

but the most annoying most fucked up bug which made me quit the game is this: i visited a guy named Skull from Duty and he gives me a mission to kill a sniper about 2 minutes away. just after i accepted the mission, Skull gets killed by that sniper.. and there was simply nothing i could fucking do about it! i emptied 3 clips from a TSR with scope aiming each bullet and i couldn't kill the sniper from my position

and if you try to get closer, first you have to pass a big ass fence! by the time you kill the sniper Skull is already fucking dead!.. it's incredible how annoying this game can be !!!

oh and i forgot about another bug: while you talk to NPCs they can simply run away and cancel your dialog! i don't understand how retarded can the game makers be !!! why don't they freeze the game while in dialogue mode! it's fucking ridiculous! honestly now... this is the MOST ANNOYING GAME... that i EVER played...

stalker clear sky is good ,but it's harder too get artifacts and easier to get hammered by anomalies due to that fact. i still think crysis is the best single player FPS. the single player COD4 is one of the best too.

Highly unlikely that STALKER will come to consoles ever. However, if you like STALKER, look out for a game called Metro 2033. That game is made by a small group of people who worked on STALKER and broke off from GSC.

Metro is expected to be released on PS3 and PC (maybe 360).

Well Lennyfred...i have some bad news for you... Once you buy this game which goes for $19.99 in the bargain bin if you can still find it... will keep you up for hours upon hours like it did for me...its that immersive. If you have a powerful enough PC download the Realism mods that make the graphics better than Halflife2 Episode 2. There are alot of enhancements turned off in the graphics engine just like Crysis only to be turned on for future machines that can handle it!

I've only just started this game and I'm with Wolf and all them, just doing missions and one time I accidently shot 1 of their members. (The ones that stand at opposite ends of the base.) The other man I was supposed to meet was dead. Now I have no way to get missions or anything and im too scared to face the military because they will kick my ass... Anyone know what to do? You should be able to get flash drive off body of dead dude. If you do go ahead and face military you will have tough time either way and either way you will have to take flash drive back to get sent on next essential mission. Many of the battles in this game are hard and facing the first military dudes when only armed with pistol (or shotgun if lucky) is tricky but once you kill them you can get one of their machine guns.
