  • this is cool

  • My hometown of Hodgenville, Ky, the birthplace of A. Lincoln, planned a huge celebration for the bicentennial but bad weather and a no show President Bush meant it came to nothing. There is a new statue of Lincoln as a boy on the town square/circle.

  • randa egy pofája volt...

  • honest abe is one of my favorite history figures i bet all the four fathers wood turn over in there grave if they seen the these corupt ppl running the joint dont get me wrong threre are some good ppl in dc but there being over shadowed by ppl who want to be greedy and want power

  • @ben80s08 its spelled fore fathers dumbass. And I dont believe Abraham Lincoln was a fore father dumbass. But yes a great historical figure in American History

  • @DaRev3rend I think you mistake fore father with founding father.A fore father is an ancestor, one who goes before. Im just saying since you seem to be such a stickler.

  • Washington is the founding father, Lincoln is the ideological father of USA

  • sic semper tyrannis.

He killed 600,000 people in order to preserve federal government power. Freeing the slaves was only a front. He only used that issue to further his power grab. Slavery would have ended on its own, without civil war, just as it did in all other countries that had slavery.

He instituted the income tax. He jailed newspaper editors who disagreed with him. He suspended habeas corpus.

He betrayed the glorious American Revolution.

    Thus always to tyrants.

  • Are you an American ???

I thought America was based on Lincoln's values of "standing up to what is right"?

One of the most inspirational intellectuals of America.

I am not a born American but I can tell you one of the most important factors people outside America respect America is because of the writings and intellect of Abraham Lincoln.

He was the best. Otherwise there would have been no USA. He was not a pacifist idealist and knew when to go to war

  • I am an American, and I believe in the true principles of America: that we all have equal, individual rights to life, liberty and property, and the only legitimate function of government is to defend those rights. America is not about forcing people. It is a voluntary and free association.

But Lincoln betrayed those principles. Slavery is evil, but the south had a right to secede.

The Civil war was not about slavery, it was about preserving federal power and Lincoln's egotistic legacy.

  • Lincoln did what a president was supposed to do and had swore to do. Integrity of nation. History knows he tried all possible means to find a peaceful resolution.

"South had a right to secede" . where was that right documented in the constitution or the oath of the president. If south had seceded North America would be a failed state like Latin American country and dumb people like you would either be employed in drug cartels or be beggars

  • The president swears to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the USA." Integrity of nation is nowhere in that oath. Before Lincoln, everyone thought of the Constitution as a voluntary agreement between the states, not a forced tyranny over them. Lincoln destroyed the power of each state to seceede, and thus removed an important check and balance on the power of the federal government.

Lincoln began the erosion of our Constitution, and hence of our freedom.

  • Obviously he was smarter than a red neck

  • Smart people can still be wrong.

Even red necks are right every now and then.

You've made an ad hominem argument, which is invalid.

Some smart people do immoral things as well.

Nixon had one of the highest IQ's of any president.

  • 13 states had clauses in their ratification of the constitution stating they were free to leave the union at any time.

  • All true.

  • @freesk8 If I recall, many other Democrats did the same during Wartime; John Adams signed the Alien and Removal Act to bar Frenchies from coming to America, FDR signed an act that imprisoned thousands of Japanese-Americans after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and during Wilson's presidency, he actively supported the Ku Klux Klan, calling them great angels towards the fallen south. See, Liberals can be assholes too

  • @PapagenoJuan2 Good point. And since I am a Libertarian, and not a liberal or a conservative or a D or an R, I'm happy to hear about the immoral acts of politicians from either party. All of the points you made above are interesting. Thanks! :)

  • Lincoln didn't campaign for president. He was told by the powers that be of the Big Business and Banks and political interests of the North to stay home and shut up once he got the nomination. He wrecked the country by consolidating all power in the Federal Government, trampling the Constitution, starting an unjustified war, destroying the republican governments of the Southern States, rigging elections etc. This guy is no hero. Americans are brainwashed if they think otherwise.

  • You are a sign of decaying American civilization

  • You are right!

Most people believe the statist hagiography that elevated Lincoln in the minds of Americans from the tyrant he really was.

He betrayed the American Revolution and made FDR's new deal possible. He began the erosion of our Constitutional republic.

  • Ill piss on lincolns grave!

just like obama dishonest abe heavily favored giving taxpayer money to private industry; especially the railroads that employed him as a blood-sucking lawyer.

  • Lincoln was a puppet.

  • Just clear things up, Obama is in now way like the Republican Lincoln. Stop trying to co-opt his legacy, you devious Democrats.

  • The Republican Party almost ran him out of the Party. He had to quell numerous efforts by the party to nominate someone in his place in 1863. Eventually, he chose Democrat Andrew Johnson as his running mate and they actually campaign as the Union Party ticket and won in 1864.

  • Maybe that gash in Lincoln's last picture was a warning of the impending murder.

  • MIKMA WAS HERE

  • Best Movies, Ben Hur with Charlton Heston, The Fall of The Roman Empire (1964), Gladiator with Russel Crowe, Patriot with Mel Gibson, The Ten Commandments with Charlton Heston, Cleopatra (1963) HD with Elizabeth Taylor, Rex Harrison, and Richard Burton, Knights of the Round Table (1953) with Robert Taylor, Ivanhoe (1952) with Robert Taylor, MIDWAY(1976) with Charlton Heston, Gods And Generals with Robert Duvall, D-DAY: THE SIXTH OF JUNE(1956) with Robert Taylor,

  • Photography definitely helped convey the "presence" of President Lincoln, both politically and personally. Without the proven strength of both his character and conduct, though, I've no doubt the pictures wouldn't nearly have as much meaning. Great news segment!

  • Enthralled is the word. Such power to hold our attention after all these years.

  • nice

  • Great Stuff.

  • creepy..

It's like you can see/feel his ghost or something.

  • scary but awesome
