when i go to network settings on my ps3 and connect the ethernet cable, it takes a while then it sais "The attempt to obtain an IP adresstimed out". i do not understand this, i am using a neighbours wifi and the same message comes up when a try to connect wirelessly aswel, im really stumped can u help me i would be very grayefull, the tutorial was really good aswell easy to understand. please help as i am a major call of duty fan and dying to get online with it

@8691peter my best advice is to delete the bridge and recreate it. if that doesnt work then delete the bridge make sure you are able to connect to the internet with out it (go to a site to check) and then recreate the bridge. this should work, if not then i could be on your neighbors end and there isnt much you can do if that is the case.

i have cable wired internet taken from neighbor.. (even though i have wifi thingy on my lopy) i started this bridge thingy from my lopy so i can connect with cellphones and other devices.. but cant connect to PS3... wile i "scan", it shows me all the network around me.. but not the one from my lopy.. altho it mite be easy just sharin cable wire from lopy to PS3... but kinda wana run with wireless (altho i think its gona get slow)

If anyone gets the Unkown after doing the netsh command prompt then log in to your computer as the administrator. with windows vista some of us have to do an extra step!!! I just got mine to work and going to pick up an ethernet cord tomorrow. Does this work faster than wireless? I'm "borrowing" my neighbor's internet so I assume that it'd be alot stronger if I use my laptop as an extender. thanx @pacwar3000

to people who keep asking "doesn't ps3 have wifi?", it does and its wifi is complete shit. I have a desktop, 2 laptops and a wii all on wifi through the house, they all get good signals, my ps3 takes about 4 hours to download a 500mb file if i reset it every 5 minutes when it stops

All I had to do for this to work on Windows 7 was enable the LAN and then make my Wifi Shared. Worked wodnerfully, was plug and play, then I plugged it into one of my iMacs, surfed the web for about 5 minutes, and then brought the Wifi COmputer back to my PS3, plugged it in, and now for the life of the me I cannot get the filthy fucking cocksucker to work. I can know go online (web browse, ps3 store, etc) but.....It will not allow me to play a game online. It drops me and will not let me to sign until i quit the game.?? i actually sorted it out. All i did was link my ethernet to my wireless network router downstairs once, so it could get all the details. Then all of these steps works, and now i can go on xbox live in my room!

(Just i still need to plug my ethernet cable into my laptop when i want to go on live).
